I've been using mid 2013 13" MBP. solid machine.
Just got the new 2018 15" 2.6/512/16 for about 8 days.

Not impressed.
Love: screen, cosmetic build quality, speaker, trackpad, speed for everyday task and heavy web applications.
Dislike: Dongles, machine gets warm even under normal use.
Hate: Touchbar (slows me down), speaker intermitting problems (no sound in youtube in the middle of a video, loud pop when click to other sections of video 70% of times), can't keep up with PRO task (rendering) at this price point, battery life (4-5 hours of normal use at 80% brightness)

Solution - I'm going to keep using my 2013 13" MBP for the time being and build a desktop for 1/2 the price of this MBP. I can bare 3 seconds differences in program loading between my 13" and new 15". I'll send the finished design file to desktop to render and that will save me 2 hours v.s rendering on the new MBP 15". Going to return this 15" and see if any updates are coming for the MB or MBA line. The current gen MBP is not a compelling offer for pros. IMO it would be passable if 13" were $300 less and 15" were $400 less. At those prices I can consider taking on these imperfections. Maybe I'll pick up a refurbished 2018 13" to be my new daily when they are available, or if MB got a better cpu or MBA got a better lcd and 16g ram option, I'd go that route.

Just got my 15" 2.2/16/512/555x in today, and I'm thoroughly impressed. Coming from a 2012 rMBP this is a great upgrade.

I like the keyboard, the track pad is fantastic, speakers are better, the touch bar is whatever I don't hate it but I also don't see it as anything other than a bit of a gimmick.

I'm not a heavy user, but I usually have 15-20 tabs open across three browser windows with both the internal display and external 34" ultra wide monitor in use. Some video editing but nothing crazy. The video editing is what I noticed the largest increase in performance, at least twice as quick exporting videos now. I would also get a lot of UI juttering on the 2012 and that is completely absent with the 2018.

All in all I am extremely happy with it.

Just been going over a few of Dave2D’s reviews of the 2018 MBP modes over YouTube and his other reviews of PC laptops. He’s mentioned his somewhat disappointment over the “still” restive thick bezels compared to the Dell XPS models.

It got me thinking (along with some in this very thread complaining about pricing of MBP) and I recall my second all time favourite computer ... the Titanium PowerBook G4.

Bezels back in 2004 were incredibly thin even by today’s standards and why did Apple go backwards?! Secondly ... pricing is very similar to then as well.

All in all I’m loving my new machine and praying my sister doesn’t see it when she visits cause she’ll conpletely pull the - how many years no presents growing up and you worked guilt trip on me to pull a heist lol.

My base 15 MBP came yesterday from Adorama. Love the KB compared to my 2014 13 MBA. Display is stunning.

Just ordered the 13"/i5/16/512. Estimated delivery: 25 working days.

and so my watch begins
A small change... just ordered the base model (13"/i5/8/256) and I should get it next week. I decided that I don't really need that 500 euro upgrade for a secondary computer which probably I'll use only for web browsing away from a desk. Also I found out that if you purchase a custom configuration there is no return policy (that sucks). I am talking about an authorized reseller in Bulgaria. So, yeah, I am sick of overthinking it. I just want to have my first mac and that's it.

My BTO was delivered a week to the day, I also paid for expedited shipping.

It went from processing to preparing to ship within 2 days, then hung out there because I ordered on a Thursday and it didn't move until Sunday evening.

I bit the bullet and ordered on Wednesday and paid for expedited delivery. It says delivery will be between 8/14-8/16. But it hasn't moved from processing.

I am hoping by the end of the day today, it will hit "preparing to ship" or better yet "shipped".

Received my i5/16GB/512GB 13inch model on Thursday morning (9th Aug) - so delivery took circa 9 days to Manchester, UK.

Very happy with it so far, it's just finishing the initial time machine back up so should get a bit more performance now it's tidied up. I haven't have any issues that others seem to be experiencing - aside it's not as fast to wake from sleep as my 2013 MBA was, however it only takes a second or two so it's not an issue.

No one deserves to be cheated on, especially when you are loyal. Initially, I thought i was just feeling insecure when my fiance would just be on his phone at odd hours, until i decided to take a chance to know, knowing is better than self doubt and it was exactly what happened when i employed the service of this particular group i came across by chance to help check his phone intoto. Now i know when he's telling the truth and lies, i know how to curtail him, i think it is not a drastic step if it'll make you feel better. My life got better, I stopped using my precious time to bother about his indiscretions and i channelled my energy positively.

Got my refund processed today and instantly ordered the same config again. Only difference: express shipping for only $8 more. ETA: 8/13 - 8/15, or early next week.

Here we go again. It will be interesting to see if this MBP takes the same or different route to get to me this time around.

My 2nd MBP has shipped.

It is taking a slightly different route this time around compared to my 1st MBP:
PVG > NRT > ANC > SDF (all one flight, UPS 109!)

My 1st MBP took a more direct route (it skipped NRT):
PVG > ANC > SDF (again all one flight, UPS 81).

Just interesting to note these slight differences.

Yesterday I got a base-model 2018 MPB 13" in space gray. Super excited. Haven't had a MBP since 2012. Switched over to the air, then the 12" MB, but needed something with a little more power to do some music production. So far so good, though admittedly I haven't had a ton of time with it yet. The space gray color is really lovely.

got space gray i9 / 32 / 2Tb. love the speed and sleekness, the screen, touchid. otoh it was too much money, and i find the touchbar a nightmare, as are the arrow keys (as a gamedev this matters!) i'm on the fence about certain aspects compared to my 2012 (the keyboard and enlarged / force trackpad, dongle life.) overall really happy though <3

Upgraded my 13” 2016 TB. Ordered 13”/2.3/16/512. Since yesterday status went to preparing for shipment. Expected pick-up at the Store still August 22nd.

hi how's the 2018 mbp 13" base model doing with your programming job? is the 8g ram doing ok for you? I am coming from a 2015 mbp 13"/i5/16/512. due to warranty almost gone and want an update/upgrade, and for some reason I got discount on only off the shelf model, so I am going to get the 2018 mbp 13" base model (i5/8/512), not sure if the 8g ram will make any negative effect of my use. what is your experience so far? I use it w/ web browsing (50-60 tabs), some xcode, some video editing, word and excel work.

just the 15" i7/16/512 will be ideal but tooooo expensive for me

Hi. I haven't received it yet and I can't say that I purchased it for programming or any other heavy work. My advice to you is to see if there is any software that can limit your ram to 8GB or separate 8GB for a specific software. That's the only way you can actually see the behavior of 8GB, because if you have 16 now the operating system will choose to utilize it so you can have the best performance and that doesn't mean 8GB wouldn't be fast enough. My friend has 13" base model as a personal computer and 15" base model again for work, both 2017. She is a graphic designer and she can do her job on both machines without any problem.

Per UPS tracking mine has been sitting in NRT since the 9th

My 13" 2018 512/16GB/i5 arrived today, which was a replacement for my 2016 15" 512gb/16gb/i7.

I must admit, I'd decided in the last few days while waiting for delivery that I was going to return the 13" and keep my old laptop, as there's nothing wrong with it, and it's probably just as powerful as my new 13", as well as having dedicated graphics.

I opened the 13" today and I'm amazed. I much prefer the size over the 15". It's much nicer to lounge around with on the sofa. If it can handle my 27'' 4K 27UD88 monitor, I'll definitely be keeping it.

I'd imagine my old laptop will cover at least half of the cost of this new one, and it came with free Beats.

Congratulations :) how are you finding the speed on the 13”? Now that it’s quad core I’m assuming it’s a lot faster than last years dual core? I’m waiting until later this year to see what Apple do with the 12” MacBook and the rumoured 13” new Air but if I decide to go with the Pro the 13” will be the one I get.

Do you use the Touch Bar? How useful is it I’m apps like YouTube? (I can see from your picture there is an option to scrub through the video that looks good).

Also what is you’re battery life like?
