Was monitoring the UK refurb store for 16” M3 Max, but not much going thru.

Just snagged a sealed SB M3 Max 16/40 48GB 1TB for £3,000 off eBay. Paid via PayPal and credit card so if a scam I’m covered, but received pics of sealed box and serial checks out with warranty etc.

£1100 less than Apple want and £500 less than an Apple refurb.

Given the choice I’d have gone silver, and maybe 2TB like my outgoing intel. But for that saving I’ll use my external 2TB NVMe if needed.

Hopefully an epic bargain.

Well this appears to have been a scam. Currently eBay are investigating.

Snagged the same machine in silver from the Apple refurb store, arrived today.

Silver FTW, classic.

If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

Oh wow, I thought I posted a question here a few days ago and was wondering why no one was responding, but I forgot to hit "post reply" lol

Anyway, I need some advice. I'm going to be upgrading my old Intel MBP soon because I'm going to be changing jobs, and I want to be able to connect to multiple monitors if I need to. I asked an Apple Store associate if the base M3 chip can connect to 2 monitors, and she said yes. She even double checked with a coworker to make sure. But I'm seeing information online that says I need at least M3 Pro to connect to 2 monitors.

So what's the truth? I don't want to spend more than I need to.

I was in the market for an Apple silicon machine, preferably with a larger screen (don't have a laptop currently). I already pulled the trigger so I guess I'm just looking for confirmation I didn't make a bad call lol

No one knows? Lol

Anyway, I did more research and it seems like regular M3 can connect to 2 monitors with the lid closed, but only one monitor with the lid open. Apple could make that more clear on their website.

You are correct. 2 screens with the lid closed for the regular M3's.

Yesterday (Friday 24th) i bit the bullet and decided to buy the MBP 14 inch M3pro with 12 core cpu, 18 core gpu 18GB and 1TB of storage in space black. Will be switching from both a mac mini m2 base 16GB 256GB and a macbook air m2 base 8GB 256GB to this one new machine. A lot less hassle with copying or synching files between the two.

Choice wise i'm very happy already. But i chose to pay for a Saturday delivery (2,50 euro) as the machine was in stock on the website and i knowing myself, if i would have gone the normal Monday route, i would not be productive that day for work.

Only its currently Saturday noon here, and although the order page says arriving today, it also still says processing. no preparing to ship or shipped statuses yet. And that has me worried to be honest.

Anyone have experience with a Saturday delivery and the website not showing shipped and it still arriving that day?

Well Saturday has come and gone and the machine was never shipped as I still could cancel my order. Which in the end I decided to do, as I was also starting to second guess myself on my ram choice. So recalculated my finances I would be able to spend on the new machine and what I would be selling my older machines for (which I have also done now) and turned out I was able to opt for the 14 inch M3 max instead. With the increased resale I was able to get the difference I had to pay out of my own pocket was only 300 euro, so almost a no-brainer.

new expected delivery will be Tuesday. :)

it looks brand spanking new, not a mark or scratch on it, then again doesn't apple replace all the outside stuff and just reuse internals for refurbs?
No, Apple checks everything out, Repairs or Replaces anything that isn’t working properly, decides whether any external parts need to be replaced, and sells them as refurbished plain Packaging, while having an As-New, 1-Year warranty, like new. Most of the time, there are no noticeable cosmetic defects.

Back to school sale should be next week, so I’ll probably order one soon. The question is do I order a 1TB model so I can pick it up right away, or special order a 2TB model just in case but wait a little longer to get it? Tough choice.

Hey all, I recently bought M1 Max MBP 14". To be honest, I bought 2 from store with used electronics (cex). First one had terrible screen and a bad battery (was supposed to be good condition).
The second has a dent on back of the screen (on the lid) and darker spot on the screen (same place as where the dent is). But it also has apple care + till may 2025. Will try to get that resolved by apple (they say it's £79 with apple care +), if not then unfortunately will keep looking.

Just purchased a MacBook Pro 14" M3 Max 14/30 cores with 1 TB of storage. $2,334 open box at Best Buy (with AppleCare+ included, one of the clear upsides of the Total Tech membership). Roughly $750 off the current sale price.

I doubt I need this level of performance, but I was considering purchasing the M3 Pro 12/18 version for about the same price. The laptop is in good condition, with 24 battery cycles and no scratches, dings, or dents. Best Buy just dropped the open box price on several MacBook Pro models today, so take a look if you are in the market.

I broke down and purchased a 14-inch MacBook Pro with M3PRO (12-core CPU/18-core GPU)/18GB/1TB in Space Black today. It will be delivered tomorrow so looking forward to a big change in performance compared to the 2015 laptops I have been using for the past few years . . .

EDIT: I have taken delivery of my new MBP and love it! I like the Space Black finish and the responsiveness of this laptop under MacOS 15. No issues so far and the video quality of the display is amazing! Highly recommended for anyone still on the fence on getting one of these.

I ordered a custom MacBook Pro yesterday and it says expected pickup July 8. So 18 days after the order date. How accurate is that usually?

I'm looking back and in 2019, I ordered a MBP August 5 and it said it would be ready August 15, and it was accurate. But this is 8 days longer.

Not sure how store pickup works on estimated times and if those ever slip to earlier dates, but when I ordered a BTO MBA shipped in 2022, my order email gave an estimate of 17-24 days. It delivered just 9 days after the order, significantly faster than the order email's estimate.
