Your guess is as good as anyone else's. That said, not sure what that has to do with what I commented on.
Your statement (longer term perspective) gave rise to the question as to what is the short term expectation- 10.3 Beta 5.

Realistically, that's essentially the whole topic of the thread itself.

I say Monday, followed by a 2 week hiatus until ipad event, perhaps March 21. Then we'll all find out we were running the release version as beta 5 all along.

And then we shut down until June.

I do hope that there are some iPad specific features that have not been revealed yet and that will work on current gen iPads.

beta 5 or final release today??
I suspect it will be both those things, barring major issues.

Think about it: Apple introduced an entirely new file system in a point release and it seems to have gone without a hitch for the most part. Pretty incredible.

I hope that they'll release the final version today or tomorrow. Even though I'm not currently using the beta versions, it seems to be pretty stable, based on the comments in this forum. I don't think they should wait for the March event, if the product is ready to be released earlier.
Although, what I don't know is whether developers face problems, because of the new file system and if they need some more time to update their apps.

They are unlikely to release the final version (designated as such) until the rumored iPad event. There are probably iPad-exclusive features in 10.3 that they're going to keep under wraps until then. At least, I hope so!

I don't think so. If there were any, they would have been leaked by now, as the latest beta would have some resource files, related to those new features.
