i used weblock for a while, they promise they don't see your data, somehow all the blocking happens on the device. not sure how it works... but it hasn't been pulled off the store.

http://www.engadget.com/2015/10/09/apple-pulls-ad-blocking-ads-that-can-compromise-security/

Apple has removed several ad-blocking apps from its Store that created a risk of "man-in-the-middle" security breaches. While Apple now permits ad-blockers for Safari, the banned apps also block ads from native apps by installing their own "root certificates" and shunting all traffic through a VPN. From there, they read the unencrypted traffic and remove ads, provided you enable the feature. As spotted by Techcrunch, one of the apps Apple removed was "Been Choice," software that even removed ads from Apple's own News app. However, it was also gathering "behavioral data" and sharing it with other companies, offering users points and cash rewards in exchange.

While there were no reported breaches, Apple decided to pull the apps, noting that they "install root certificates which enable the monitoring of customer network data that can in turn be used to compromise SSL/TLS security solutions." However, it promised to work with the developers "to quickly get their apps back on the App Store," provided there's no risk to customer privacy and security. Starting with iOS 9, Apple decided to allow regular ad-blockers for Safari and other browsers, provided they don't monitor user traffic.

Last 5 pages dedicated to blowing Purify's horn. Personally, I use Crystal, and it has been working great for me. Sure, no toggles to customise my browsing experience, but everything that needs to work, works.

What exactly is the whole advantage of Purify again? What am I missing here?

Customization options and responsive support.
Main objection to Crystal is now to his change to acceptable ads policy partnering with Eyeo after people paid for the app.

I paid for the app. I don't have an issue with Crystal and Eyeo.

If Crystal wasn't going to give me the option to block all ads, including acceptable ads, that would be a different story. I know some are totally against this and I respect that. It just doesn't bother me.

I also paid for the app. I was replaying why many people on the forum are criticizing Crystal.
Today's update includes white listing but no acceptable ads yet.

Wouldnt that be an optional setting anyway?

It appears he fixed Amazon as well! I would get blank pages surfing that site, after logging into my account. Cool beans!

I would still like to see a comment box, when reporting a site.

The new update should make a lot of people happy, in my opinion. Several of the sites previously reported have been fixed. A few of the test websites need to be reported again. Not a big issue. Overall, it appears to be a strong update. I would like to see more stream-lined repairs to user made, so that we don't have to wait so long, especially when Apple is backlogged. Hopefully, that kind of update will be forth-coming in a timely manner.

Was excited to hear this, but after updating the app it still breaks nfl.com. Reported it at least twice before and once again just minutes ago when visiting with the new update.

First shot is from Purify, second is using Adblock Fast. The last photo is again using Adblock Fast and reason for including it is that Purify blocks that top "story" from even showing up.

A little deflated but I'll keep waiting I guess. For now, back to Adblock Fast...
