That article was great, and pretty much expresses my opinions of the iPhone as well:
Lots -o- Hype over shiny doo-dad.
I applaud his webpage.

99.9%+ of the population have never driven faster than 200mph, does that mean the Honda Civic is better than a Bentley Conti. Flying Spur?...using arguments like the ability to SSH into servers as evidence that the E70 is better than the iPhone... I'm sure that 99.9% of the population has never even used SSH, let alone regularly...
...A good article, but not entirely accurate IMO
So you don't counter any of his valid arguments, just discount the Nokia on looks?I need to ask him if he's tried attaching a servo to those dumbo ear flaps that phone has for keyboards...
9So you don't counter any of his valid arguments, just discount the Nokia on looks?
It's just a bit of fun, but he is right and the Nokia e90 is even better IMO.
I love the fact that my job has blocked this article...dammit!
Psh, you're obviously not very familiar with Maddox. Go read the rest of his site. No issues, he vents for the entertainment of his readers. What you have is a scared little boy who needs to make himself feel better by using his choice in cell phone as a proxy for his intelligence being accepted by the world.
You're right of course you don't need to counter them, but that doesn't mean he's not right so you also can't.I need to counter his arguments about as much as a President of the US needs to respond to Howard Stern...
You're right of course you don't need to counter them, but that doesn't mean he's not right so you also can't.
The fact is the iPhone does what it does very well, it just doesn't do as much as other phones, fact.
Much better than the majority of phones I've tried. Is it just me or does the keyboard look extremely hard to use on that Nokia.
One half left and one half right, with a screen in between, it just don't look very intuitive and very hard to handle to me.
Nokia don't tie you up with any provider, yay pro-choice...Is there a US carrier that even offers this phone?
Much better than the majority of phones I've tried.
Nokia don't tie you up with any provider, yay pro-choice![]()
That's fine, but how do you get service for it?
Just like you would any other GSM phone, put your SIM in it.
What's more obvious: That you need to put a SIM card in your phone or that to put a SIM card in your phone you need a SIM cardFine, that's obvious but wouldn't you have to have an existing plan on an existing phone already to do that?

That's your point now maybe, but it obviously wasn't clear....That was my point.
Being able to counter them implies that I somehow said that his phone isn't as good as the iPhone or that my phone beats his or some other idiotic notion of egoism through consumerism that I'm not interested in participating in.
I like my iPhone, it does everything I need it to do in a way I like.
He likes his Nokia -- fine. I don't really care. I'm more interested in why people feel the need to equate their and others intelligence/self worth with the tech they own. His own knowledge of what his phone can do for him is obviously not sufficient or he wouldn't have bothered to make that online manifesto.
Grats to him, he feels more intelligent for having a batter phone. Maybe he could put that down on his resume too.
Said the guy who joined MR on 7/6 and posts 30+ times a day.![]()
The question is if you have an unlocked phone, wouldn't you need to buy a plan from, say, Verizon and get a phone from them and then swap out the sim into the unlocked E70?
That was my point.
I'm sorry... I was prepared to be offended... but I haven't laughed so hard in ages
Especially loved his comments about Nokia's marketing team, and that he sometimes remotely reboots his sever... just because he CAN!
iPhone haters are jilted iPhone lovers: upset that it's the perfect device that they cannot have OR that it's a device they WANT but falls just short of their expectations.
