I sort of get what OP’s saying. I’m fairly positive next year Apple will come out with a bigger version of X alongside the regular X. Basically regular X will replace the 4.7” screen iPhone line while the bigger X will be for plus users. That’s my guess anyway.

That being said, I did pick up the X because I hated how huge my plus phones were (had 6+, 6s+, and 7+) but didn’t want to downsize because of the battery life, resolution (I’m nitpicky and could see pixels on the smaller iPhone when I put my face close.. did not like), and camera. X fixed all that. Also got a new design which I’ve been craving for. FaceID works almost all the time. I sometimes unlock it to use without being aware FaceID is happening. I had that moment of realization as I woke up groggy and grumpy one morning and picked up my phone and immediately started browsing and checking the time... “wait a sec, it just unlocked without me being aware of it happening! I just swiped up and started using it!” Anyway.. I’m happy. YMMV however.

There is this group of people who never really liked the big surfboard that the + is, but felt they had to deal with it anyway because the + offers better camera, significantly better battery life, better screen, more memory in the case of the 7+/8+ and so on. That group now has more of a choice and I’m glad Apple is offering them something that isn’t second rate compared to the +. Oh, and I say that as a hardcore + user who has very little interest in the X because the screen is not wide enough for what I want (and a lot of other off topic reasons as well).
I'm in that group. That's why I jumped at the X and now I love it!!! :D

I do miss the interface converting to landscape view, like the Plus's used to do :(

my dainty hands weren't built for massive plus model phones, but I'm managing fine with the X. Reaching the bottom corners with one handed use is a bit of a stretch but I'll cope

Coming from a 7 plus. Have used the X since the launchday and I love it more day by day.
So you are wrong....and that’s it really.

I had the 6 but found the screen too small and so I switched to the plus, then the 6s plus and the 7 plus and find the X more than adequate for my needs. The screen size is great and the actual size of the phone is perfect as it’s between the 8 and 8 plus.i always found the plus models slightly too large to feel really comfortable making phone calls and I have largish hands

I would agree... borderline want to return my X for an 8 Plus as everything looks a bit too packed in. Plus breaths content much better in my opinion. Now only if the 8 Plus screen had the clarity. I guess I'll just have to hope they release a plus version of this bezel free iPhone.

4.7” owners get far more benefits from the X than Plus owners, which will experience a downgrade in some aspects.

However both demographics can certainly appreciate what the X does well.

I've been a plus user since they launched, love the bigger screen and thought I'd use landscape mode all the time to get the "iPad" browser and the like - and yet I never use that... so for me the taller screen will be perfect - and having seen the X in person a handful of times I'm not going to miss the additional (admittedly not a huge amount) bulk of the plus...

Constant threads of Plus users moaning that they feel disappointed by the smaller phone. Well clearly it wasn't designed for you. The 8 Plus was.

The 4.7" iPhone users will love the similar sized phone with a much bigger screen. (This has been my dream for many many years now)

Now that I'm using the iPhone X there's no way i could go back. I can see me using this phone for many years to come. And its only this version of the phone i'd ever want. I won't want the plus size version of it i do not need an iPad mini in my pocket.

And I'm sure many of you feel the same.

iPhone X OLED screen and build quality has completely topped the list of best iPhone designs in my book. The iPhone 4/4S has now been one upped.

You're being overly dramatic here.

The 8 Plus is not an iPad Mini, no matter how much people want to disparage its size.

It's mainly for the 4.7" users but also for Plus users who don't mind taking a slight hit it screen size when in Landscape.

I agree the whines of Plus users over the X has been prominent (& overbearing) possibly due to 'other' issues...*cough*flagship status revoked*cough* :D

Don’t agree.

I’m a long time Plus user (6 Plus, 6S Plus, 7 Plus).

I got my X on launch morning and have loved it immensely. There’s no way I’d downgrade to the 8 Plus.

Next year, if they have a Plus sized X-type phone, I’ll definitely go to that without hesitation, but between the 8 Plus and the X, it’s no contest. X all the way.

I’m a plus user (or was) and the iPhone X was indeed designed for me.
Stop disproving his theory! It is very important for the "believers" to claim they know more about iPhones than anyone else so let them teach us all the things we dont know already

Anyway, I'm coming from 3 years of Plus use also and I'm enjoying a larger screen in a smaller frame. I just wish Apple used that longer screen for more landscape use options rather than just filling their own apps with blank space. But overall, it does feel like a good size.

Coming from a 6+, the X has been great so far. Sure it's smaller in size compared to the + but the screen size is on par. However, I'm waiting on most of these apps to transition to the full size. I admit that I'm not used to playing games or watching videos where it adjusts to a smaller size but I'm hoping these games will adjust to the X screen.

No worries! I have read a few articles where they’re already working on designs for the X, which supposedly includes a plus model. I feel a little spoiled with my plus but love the X as well. ☺️

for me its indeed too tiny, i have had my iPhone 7 Plus for a little over a year now and i cant go back to that small screen. i played around with the X at the store and it basically felt like going back using my old iPhone 6 full time again, especially with the tiny keyboard ... no me gusta

saving my money and hoping for a bigger iPhone XS Plus with Apple Pen and ProMotion support next year. my iPhone 7 Plus will do until then, like seriously iOS offers nothing new. i would spent 1.149Euro right now only to go back to using the exact same apps the exact same way as on my iPhone 6 and iPhone 7 Plus

I've been a Plus user since the Plus first came out. Now I'm an X fan all the way.

I will readily admit I have sacrificed some screen width which shrinks a column of text by about 15% vs the Plus, and at times I miss that 15%. But not enough to make me want to give up all the advantages of the X. Not nearly. This is such a premium-feeling phone, and the display is amazing.

But those used to a Plus need to think carefully, and spend some time trying out an X before buying. I know some folks who want the biggest display possible, period. They may not be right for the X.

I think it's a compromised design that many people aren't happy with. The screen is too big for non-plus users because it can't be used one-handed. For plus users, even though the screen has a longer diagonal measurement, the screen is actually smaller in area. Apple should've went ahead and released two X's, a regular model around 5" and a plus model around 6.4".

I've been carrying 2 iPhone Plus's (6+, 7+) in my purse, a Brighton purse very similar to this crossbody. The phones take up practically the entire purse compartment.
An advantage of being female :): I'm not just limited to a pocket. I always have my purse with me, so both phones are always with me. Helps with bragging rights around geek guys too. "I have more cores than you do..." :D

They have been awesome. I find 2 iPhones indispensable when I travel for work.
1 for navigation / public transport apps or Google Maps to make sure Mr. Taxi Driver isn't taking me the long route,
1 for podcasts or phone calls.

On my last trip to Dubai, every phone, camera, and battery charger became drained of life during my full day exploring except for 10% of my second phone.

I now carry 1 iPhone X and 1 Plus. I love the new X, but would much prefer a "Xplus" for a bigger screen.

I've been trying to find a reason to keep 2 iPhones. I had a Galaxy S7 and iPhone 8 Plus but traded in the S7 for the X. Thanks for your reply to this thread.

...and no, the X is not just a "Plus lite". It's kinda what the plus should have been all along IMHO.

I was an iPhone Plus user for three years, and I couldn’t disagree more. In real world usage, the X’s display is practically the same as the Plus’.

The X is for both types of iPhone users, because in the past you had to choose between a big screen and pocketability; now you can have both.
