I wish Apple would release something like the DGX Station A100 with multiple Silicon M2 slots and, perhaps, disaggregated storage and networking.

In an era where workflows are increasingly distributed across teams and people, Apple’s fixation with single user, all-in-one closed systems is turning a bit stale.

If we also consider Apple shortcomings on the OS front where widgets are prioritised over core features (e.g. virtualisation), I fear that innovation could be in decline.

That's a $50,000 box. I guess the 2019 Mac Pro can reach that price but I don't know how many Apple actually sells. Also, about the maximum you can spend on a Mac Pro is under $53,000 and the DGX Station A100 starts at $49,900.

As was said at the time, the idea of gluing multiple Mac minis together essentially to create a custom high-end expandable device is a dumb one that's trying too hard when easier, better options are there (PCIe for internal, TB for external.)

The question of how Apple will adapt the SoC format to the Mac Pro when for most people the Mac Studio brings all the power they need, but not the expandability, is a question worth pondering. (And MR commenters have!) But I will happily put $100 of my money on the line if we want to start a charity betting pool if it actually looks anything like this idea.

Dave2D is many things, but outside of his own demands and requirements for his machines for work, he's an idiot, any more than if I started dreaming up BS hardware engineering. The temptation will be to then turn your magically-works-on-paper idea into an expectation, why doesn't Apple do this? When of course there are very good reasons.
