Does anyone know when the iPhone 12 goes on sale Friday on the West Coast? 9 PST? i saw language on the apple site, but it almost reads it only goes on sale for apple card members at 9pm PST?
I thought it was 5AM PDT, but I’ll have to check. (Im pretty sure it’s PDT right now, not PST).

Who uses their cable to transfer things anymore? I shoot in 4K and I find Airdrop to be easier to transfer files to my iMac.

I think they are done investing in the iPhone ports. Rumor is next year will have no port, remember. So they are not upping Lightning and they are skipping USB C now that they have pioneered an excellent wireless fast charge magnet for 15W charging. I think for certain we will be hearing all about wireless upgrades as we go.
My concern is you’ll likely need new macs to take advantage of the wireless transfer speeds between iPhone and iPad mac, maybe silicon mac? I just bought two 16 MacBook Pro ugh.

Syncing songs between mac and iPhone. I have a large iTunes library.

What’s disgusting is the iPhone 12 mini actually cost $729 and iPhone 12 cost $829 for the sim free variant.

That is actually a very valid complain considering they are now doing ProRAW with it.

Technically the Lightning to USB-C could have USB 3.0 Speed. ( 5Gbps ), although I doubt Apple will do that.

I think they expect you to do AirDrop. On 802.11ax you should be able to get some decent speed.

Is it possible to transfer files directly from iPhone to pc via wifi?

Airdrop between iPhone and ipad seems to work great.
I don't have a Windows computer, but according to Apple it should be possible.

1. aliminum chasis => this must stainless steel or titanium like could look better. iphone 4s was the best.
2. no underscreen finger pring scanner. face id is not good.
3. no dramatic improvments on battery life
4. still have that stupid notch

This practice should be left in PRSI.
This practice being taking one word or point out of context and totally de-railing the conversation to hate on the messenger while ignoring the mesengers very valid point.
This practice is happening here in this topic and it's sad.

Moving along -> BACK ON TOPIC -> I agree with the OP here. Pro Raw photos and Dolby Vision video will take a while to move to your Mac.

I happen to agree. Apple is slowly moving to a no port iPhone. First they removed the 3.5mm port. Now they are pushing Magsafe so in the future it's the only way to charge. Apple can't move to portless overnight. But slowly over time people will accept it.

Don't go port-less. I don't need USB3 but I need the USB adaptors for my music interfaces and MIDI keyboards. Also, I need my battery pack for on the go.

Although, I'd like to see an external battery that easily attaches on the back.

Just transfer over wi-fi to your pc any decent router will give you around usb 3.0 speed at the very least transferring files over your wifi.

It sucks especially when I do a backup or restore of iOS device. I am guessing its a limitation of lightening connector which I am not sure why they haven't moved to USB-C already, since back in 2016 they were brave enough to say the future is USB-C and only cable you need so they made MBP USB-C only(USB-A still more ubiquitous).

Maybe they want to psychologically make people hate transferring via slow wire, and then release a no port phone.

I only care about transferring data over a cable to iPhone once a year, and that's when I do a Backup and Restore locally when I get a new phone, because it contains more data than iCloud.

That said, if it's limited to 2.0 Speeds, would it be faster to sync over Wi-Fi?

Nope, because 2.0 is still 480 Mbps and Wi-Fi sync is rarely ever better than 100-300 Mbps.
