Got mine back in Nov and its been awesome for the most part although we had a few minor hiccups recently, the battery failed which Apple promptly replaced and my trackpad was funny but i blew compressed air into it from the battery compartment and i was all good again.

All in all it runs cool quiet and smoothly and i'm loving it thus far, even got a bluetooth mouse for it. Merry Christmas.

BTW, how does one discover the week in which it was manufactured?

In System Profiler, I believe it's characters 4 and 5 together. My 17" C2D MBP gives 48.

So on the subject of my MBP, I bought it just before Christmas from the Apple Store in Ginza, Tokyo. With the current pound-yen exchange rate, I saved about 40% over the UK price! :D

And I love it! It is a great machine, and a definite step up from my CD MacBook. Although I did prefer the fact the MacBook has a magnetic case closure and (dare I say it) I preferred the keyboard, this machine is a beast, and easily the best machine I've owned so far.

I could never go back to a smaller screen now for my main machine, I have seen the light!

Just got mine today! :-D

I am SOOOOOO happy with my Macbook Pro CD. 2.0 ghz.

I've only had it in my possession for 3 hours, but so far it is the most amazing thing ever. I am all kinds of excited.

I LOVE apples new update software. Firewire to my old powerbook and BOOM 1 hour later everything is exactly how I had it. Although, it would be nice if it was set up to recognize if you had a new version of preinstalled software already. I had to run a lot of updates and reinstall itunes and such that was obsolete.

Either way... IT'S GREAT. Like many others on this thread I was expecting the worst, but got the best. The biggest defect I could find is that the lid is SLIGHTLY warped in that it is a tiny SMIDGEN up on the right side when closed, but it's pathetically minor.

Really my biggest complaint is that the screen is almost TOO bright and TOO nice compared to my Tibook. I can't turn it all the way up or I'll give myself a headache I think. I look over at Tibook and it is soooooo dull and dark and sad, whereas here it is at like 70% brightness and it's still brighter and clearer then my Tibook. :-D

And... I only have 512 ram right now (ordering a 1 gig stick this week to add to it) and even the non-native programs like photoshop 7.0 and word run pretty impressively smoothly, after reading this stuff I expected there to be a bigger speed difference, but so far so good.

I am the happiest camper right now. LONG LIVE THE MACBOOK PRO.

:)

Black Mac

I bought a Black MacBook to replace a flawless original 12" PowerBook. So far, it has been wonderful! I like not having to mount the iSight camera on the edge of the screen a lot. After three and a half years, the PowerBook is running strong, it was just time for a new one and the wife was for it! It is my thrid Apple, and the 8th one I have bought in the last 4 years ( kids ) and every experience with them has been good. Apple Care has graciously repaired one of the iBooks three times even though I am sure the foibles were the result of a ham fisted teenaged boy.
Mac are THE ONLY WAY to fly.

I am very happy with my entry level MBP... Just added one more stick-o-ram and she sails smoothly now. God I love this thing.. my iMac (24") is getting a bit jealous...

I'm still in love with my MacBook Pro, after a bout with lust over a MacBook. And mine's a first revision :)eek:), never been to Apple Care for a problem.

Still in love. :)

My MBP is perfect, no dead pixels, no case warping, LCD is fine with no grain or uneven backlighting a no issues whatsoever. And it's the BEST computer ever made bar none.

In response to Tonic-

I got a 15" refurbished from apple online. I LOVE IT. We are a big fan of refurb, for the price and full coverage anyway (with apple care) you can't really beat it... However, my dad recently replaced his 17" powerbook with a 17" c2d with my education discount and he LOVES that too. We are one happy mac family. My poor mom is the only one still running an original g4 tower. hehe. She'll be the next one to go.

We are thinking of transfering her system over and getting a mac mini and hiding it behind the old tower... see how long it takes till she has to turn it on and off and realizes that she is even running on a new computer. We expect her to just be like "hmm my computer is running much faster now! I wonder why?" HEHEHEHEHEHE... yeah... my dad and I are evil. :)

In anycase, whatever you decide to go with I am sure you will be happy, and if you are an unlucky one, i'm sure apple will do everything they can until you have the perfect computer.

P.S. I'm really digging the 2 finger right click and the backlit keyboard. Sweet.

I am anticipating that I will love my MBP C2D when it arrives sometime in the first week of February! But the wait is killing me!!! Argh!!! It hasn't even shipped yet! :(

But nonetheless, I will love it.

My company has just ordered a MBP for me. They didn't tell me when I'd get it.
dancertom3, when did you order yours? I thought it would only take about 5 days for the MBP to get to you?

First things first: best notebook ever!

- I still say hello to it when I got home
- I'm barely able to stay away of it when I'm home
- The portable condition has been reduced due to world-avatar-and-threats
- ...it even let me win on chess from time to time!

enjoy yours as I do! (we do in fact ;))

Although I won't trade my mbp in for anything, I still wouldn't give it a 10 out of 10...Don't flame me :(
* my space bar seemed warped.. doesn't feel flat, and has a groove between the V and B keys...
* The bottom two corners of the screen seems darker, like a shadow or someting
* The hinge takes some effort to open... i have to stick my thumb nail into the button and move side to side in order to release the 2 hooks..
* The trackpad button is mis-aligned, like very shoddy workmanship

I figured to exchange this, as I'm still under warranty, but not sure if Apple would accept these minor 'errors'.
Plus there is a scratch on the case (thanks to my umbrella:( )

Apart from the volcanic heat, which I hope to solve by buying a laptop cooler, this MBP is great. Light, thin, durable, quiet (when cool), keyboard is a treat to type on, trackpad is dead accurate, and it certainly draws attention with the women :)

Benneh, do you have a CD or C2D MBP?
I've heard that the CD runs hotter than the C2D. I have the 17" C2D and I'm surprised at how cool it runs, in comparison to my old CD MacBook.

I've noticed the slightly darker corners, but only when I think about it. In use I forget about them, and I *love* the screen; size and brightness.

I still prefer the MacBook keyboard though... :p

I've got the C2D. I haven't had a play with the CD yet, so I don't have any idea how hot it gets in relation to time. But my C2D is usually very warm, and volcanically hot when the room gets to about 27+ degrees celcius, and the fan starts going psycho...

I agree with you the screen is great, but I wouldn't mind a HD cinema display (drools...)

well done student_trap. My mbp has a wonky keyboard and a flickery backlight but it was one of the first ones released and i love it to bits! I bet you're well pleased now that I spilt coke all over your powerbook :)

As a windows convert, I thoroughly have enjoyed my MBP for the last two months! I was hesitant at first but I just dig the simple beauty of the brushed aluminum exterior.

There is not a windows notebook out there that compares in aesthetics.
