Three days so far with my refurbed C2D MBP (2.33 120 2gb matte). Great machine, and so far confirms my decision to go with a Mac rather than PC notebook. Runs cooler, actually, than I was expecting. Very quick. Haven't loaded anything beyond the stock software, as everything I have is PC-based and I am yet to load a copy of XP/Bootcamp/Parallels. For $2,000+tax, I'm happy.

I want one!

You guys gotta stop! I have been dreaming and dreaming for one and this doesn't help. I still have my iBook and it has finally run into some problems after 4 years.. It freezes and I have to hard power it down. I am pretty sure it is the hard drive. I am just going to replace and rebuild that and keep it until June or so. By then, I feel MBP upgrades will be complete with Leopard and iLife 07 installed.

My MBP15 C2D is perfect. As a home computer, I couldn't imagine using anything else now. I love the design, OS X, iLife and the super high quality of 3rd party software. It's a pleasure to use.

The only downside? I'm too protective of it! I have taken it out of my house only once in the 2 or so months that I've owned it. Don't want my baby to get all scratched up! The guys at work keep pushing me to bring it in, but for the moment they'll have to just hear my stories.

Mine is totally flawless too, but I also am way too protective. With my old Dell I had no problem bringing it to the library (i'm a college student), but I have not taken my MBP out of my room once this semester because I'm afraid something will happen to it.

macbook pro C2D is the ballsiest laptop on earth. i upgraded from a macbook, made an enormous difference in terms of screen real estate and graphics performance. i haven't played CS:S in months... now i'm at it like an addict again. also got rainbow six vegas to play around with. it's also not much heavier than the macbook, i think about half a pound. backlit keyboard is a great touch. also 120gb drive is a nice boost from 80gb on the macbook. have to say it was worth it... plus i got my system refurbished! only one cosmetic flaw, on the bottom on the battery casing, small scratch. other than that, flawless, and i'm pleased.

I love my MBP, I mean, it is by far the best computer I have (it doesn't have much to compare to though, I'm currently typing on a Vista PC... ewwww). I, unfortunately, do have some problems with it, but I have problems with all of my computers, and they definately do not compare to how happy I am with this beast.

Pre-lovin' my MBP C2D

:) My future MBP has left the building according to FedEx! :)

Just some quick questions while I'm here:

Can you add AppleCare within 12 months of your purchase, or it that something I've dreamt?

Do I need to install Norton Firewall etc. if you live in a "hacking" prone area, or does it already have a good, built-in firewall? (and why is Norton antivirus "heavily" adveritsed on :apple:.com if mac's aren't supposed to get viruses..?)

Anyone know if there's a program similar to IBMs Rational Rose that will run on Macs, as well as MS Visio and Access?

Few more days and I'll be lovin' my MBP!

yes you can add applecare at any point within the year.

You will not need any antivirus software, i have been using macs for years using only the built in firewall and have had absolutelty no problems!

Had my 15" 2.33ghz MBP for about 2 months now, no problems to speak of. Yes the screen is a little grainy when I really look for it, but I only notice it when I'm looking for it. So I'm happy with mine.

If they change the screens to match the rest of the PeeCee world during the next revision I will probably jump at it regardless of (the absence of) other improvements. Like many have said it is pretty damned near perfect already, except the screen that is.

I wouldn't worry if I were you. The MBP is VERY hard to damage if you take even the slightest bit of care. I bring mine to school and place it on dirty tables and such. It looks like its scratched sometimes, but its generally just dust or something and you can wipe it off.

I say this because in my 2 months of owning it, I haven't managed to put a single scratch on it, anywhere :)

I'm extremely happy with my MacBook Pro. I'm glad I got it and I don't think I will ever go back. Even if there were some problems with it, I'm sure Apple would be able to quickly fix it.

I had the same feelings as the OP. I was worried about a bunk display or slightly warped case. And its true... I worried for nothing :)

No dead pixels, no uneven lighting, and the case was in perfect condition. I was really amazed at the quality of the machine.

I recently bought a Macbook Pro 15" Refurb and have been completely satisfied. It looks and runs just like a new Mac. It is flawless as well, no dead pixels or warping or anything. Apple has won my heart once again. I really like the direction they are headed!

I've noticed some people say the screens are very bright, but I find slightly different.
Steve said that the MBPs are as bright as the cinema display. But on a dual monitor setup, the MBP is quite a bit dimmer.
