12.9 here but not crazy about the screen. Maybe auto brightness is too aggressive but seems dimmer. It just reinforces how much oled is missed here. Corners seem dimmer as well.

Bezels are fine. Pencil is a star. Speakers more base imo and definitely loud. Speed is fast but nothing seems to really tax the older one much less this one.

Still need time but i may go back to old one because screen seems better on it.

Anyone else miss the downvote c
Dang man, I went with the 11in because I thought the 12.9 may be to big to carry around.
My keyboard, pencil and iPad will arrive in a few weeks and you make me worried I might not like it.

I have the 10.5 now and love it, but the performance and looks of the new iPads made me crazy to purchase it.
I wouldn't worry about it I picked up an 11" at best buy today and after having the 12.9 gen 2 I'm absolutley thrilled with the new one.

To me the new one feels so much better in the hand than the old one and the uniform bezels look fantastic even if they are slightly wider on the sides than the 10.5. I'm sure you will enjoy your new 11

lol what an awesome post by OP, language??

I have to give him though that coming from a 10.5 I’m really also a bit bummed about the new one, but mainly only because of this ANNOYING new Smart Keyboard. I just hate how it’s heavier than the old one and has keys on the back of the device when holding it. Gosh, Apple!

I love the feel of the tablet itself but miss my white front :(
And about the home button yea, it’s kinda sad, I love my Face ID on iPhone but here, well.. but it’s how it is now, get on with it.

Let's not spread mis-information here... From Apple's own website:

12.9" (2018 model)
Weight (Wi-Fi) 631 grams (1.39 pounds)

11" (2018 Model)
Weight (Wi-Fi) 468 grams (1.03 pounds)

10.5" (2017 Model)
Weight (Wi-Fi) 469 grams (1.03 pounds)

So the 11" and 10.5" are the same weight. To me, having both, the older model actually feels sleeker and lighter, but that's just me. They're exactly the same weight (well 1 gm difference... ;) )

It's significant enough that people who were blindfolded couldn't tell, we had multiple ipads from multiple gens. The weight is much more distributed and there is feeling of heft.

Tried both in store. 12.9 amazed me due to lightness vs size. 11” still a bit big (to hold). Makes me more sad there isnt a mini sized version of the new pros.

I said it feels lighter even though I know the difference is negligible. I said it might have to do with the flat sides. How is that misinformation?

The 10.5 A10x cpu has great performance too. Why are you having to wait a few weeks for it to arrive?

I was mostly responding to the first quote “In fact, the 10.5 ipad pro weights the same as the 12.9 new ipad pro” which is wrong.

You also said “it’s slightly lighter” when they’re both 1.03 lbs.

Not trying to be rude/play semantics, just trying to make sure ppl don’t think the old 10.5 and current 12.9 are the same weight when they’re a 1/3 lb difference almost.

I was comparing the 10.5” to the 11”. WiFi model is one gram lighter and cellular model is 9 grams lighter. Very slight indeed but they are lighter. I was mostly referring to the way they feel though. Something about the new form factor makes it feel surprisingly light. Maybe it’s the bigger screen at the same weight; or the squared off sides.

And about the home button yea

I’m glad to hear someone else say this. I’ve always loved white bezels on my iPads - I think it just seems classic Apple to me like iPods.

Touch ID is convenient when it’s laying on a desktop.

so don't hate me for this but its my honest review spending the night with both, firstly faceID isn't easy like Touch ID was to unlock on a table its good on a phone, the bezels are way thicker on the sides compared to the 10.5 just so it all looks neat but they made out its bezels but there bigger, also all this speed and nothing needs it 10.5 works fine for iOS apps, also Apple Pencil worked fine before so what u plug it in to charge it toke 15 seconds to gets out so you tubers saying its much better nope, camera is worse couldn't use xs camera its same thickness as iPhone XS so they could off, no OIS so videos are shaky everything seems a downgrade just we get Animoji the bezels had to be quicker, the smart over covers the back but I don't want that the 10.5 was slicker and thinner with smart case, the display looks same no improvements so what actually is better camera got downgraded screen looks cool ut I loved the thin sides one on 10.5 and that ANNOYING home bar is in the way, the old iPad with iOS 12 had same gestures but without the homebar, it all doesn't seem right, what do you think... also cos it doesn't have raise to wake its now 2 steps press screen then swipe up before it was just clock Touch ID and it woke
[doublepost=1541635028][/doublepost]also all this amazing power and its still iOS just a big iPhone nothing will use that power
Looks like your IPP was missing full stops too!
Only kidding. In all seriousness, I’m loving mine but I upgraded from an iPad Air 2 so more of a jump. I also think that you’re trivialising some of the improvements, like the quality of the screen and the new pencil.

I'll attempt to deconstruct this. Without hate. We all have our own needs and desires.

firstly faceID isn't easy like Touch ID was to unlock on a table its good on a phone

Might be important for some, not an issue for me. I don't unlock my devices while they're laying flat on a table. I used to with Touch ID, but it's honestly not something I personally miss. I don't get the fuss over this one, but will acknowledge that it's an important feature for some (and probably an excuse to hate on Face ID for others).

the bezels are way thicker on the sides compared to the 10.5 just so it all looks neat but they made out its bezels but there bigger

While I don't have one in hand yet, I do like the look of the uniform bezels. I certainly won't miss the top and bottom bezels, particularly since they were sacrificed to give me a bigger screen. I won't know for sure until I have one, but I don't see this being an issue for me. Also, I concentrate on the content the device is showing me and tend to ignore the space where I'm not being shown content. So by definition, I don't see the bezels causing me issues as that isn't the part of the screen I'm looking at.

also all this speed and nothing needs it 10.5 works fine for iOS apps

That's just silly. More horsepower means a device that will last more years. I'm fine being overpowered. My last iPad was an original Air, so longevity means more to me than what is can do today. Technically speaking, I upgraded from my iPad Air to a 10.5" Pro back in May, but it got burned in a fire in July. So I'm still considering this the upgrade from my Air as I probably would have sat this year out with my 6 month old 10.5".

also Apple Pencil worked fine before so what u plug it in to charge it toke 15 seconds to gets out so you tubers saying its much better nope

Doesn't apply to me as I don't use an Apple pencil.

camera is worse couldn't use xs camera its same thickness as iPhone XS so they could off, no OIS so videos are shaky

If the camera is indeed worse, that's sad. But in the end, it doesn't matter to me as I wouldn't be using the iPad for photography purposes.

everything seems a downgrade just we get Animoji the bezels had to be quicker

Like many other features I don't use on my devices, the inclusion of Animoji (even Memoji) don't really bother me. It's a feature meant for a different crowd and I'm happy they have it. It doesn't get in my way, so why should I care that some other people get a fun feature?

Already discussed bezels up above.

the smart over covers the back but I don't want that the 10.5 was slicker and thinner with smart case

I don't use a smart cover. So that doesn't apply.

the display looks same no improvements so what actually is better camera got downgraded screen looks cool ut I loved the thin sides one on 10.5 and that ANNOYING home bar is in the way, the old iPad with iOS 12 had same gestures but without the homebar, it all doesn't seem right, what do you think... also cos it doesn't have raise to wake its now 2 steps press screen then swipe up before it was just clock Touch ID and it woke

Let's see... Good screen. Cool. Repeat of the camera downgrade and bezels again.

I haven't found the home bar to be an annoyance on my X or XS Max, I suspect I'll adapt fine.

As for the two-step process, not a big deal to me. I know some people count the milliseconds until they're unlocked and ready to go. I'm not part of that crowd. I don't care if it takes me .5 seconds or 5 seconds to unlock. I'm not picking one up for unlock speed but for the features available once it's unlocked. When I'm absorbed in my movie, the amount of time it took to get there is a non-issue for me.

I don't see it as a huge downgrade. It may be for some, but as most of these threads usually conclude, the value in a new device can really only be determined by those purchasing that device. No new device will please everyone and none ever will. Some will always like the new device, some will always hate it. So while it might be a huge downgrade for you, I don't think you can apply that universally. In my case, this purchase will be on-par with my original iPad. I'm going from having nothing to having an iPad. Clearly, that's an awesome upgrade from my 10.5" (which no longer exists).

I agree. The tapered edges on the 10.5 make it feel slimmer than the 11.

seems like whenever i look at my 10.5 i notice that the side bezels look slim and every time i look at the 2018 i notice the bezels on the supposedly bezeless display.

However i do find myself lately trying to talk myself out of getting the 2018 thank goodness the darn thing would cost me overall $1600.. thats the only thing holding me back.

I honestly think as far as looks go the 10.5 iPad is not only the slickest/sleekest looking iPad, it's one of the best looking apple devices period. It's my absolute favorite as far as looks are concerned.

I went into Best Buy earlier today to have a look at the new iPad Pro. I picked up the new 11 inch in my hands and immediately noticed how light and cheap it feels. It just doesn't have the "premium" feel of it's predecessors. I walked away unimpressed with no desire to replace my 10.5" Pro.

I had a similar experience and bought my wife the new MBA instead.

It's so funny how opinions differ to me this 2018 feels so much more premium than my gen 2 pro did.

I think it’s awasome that you admit that you changed your mind. Not many people have that in them.

I have the 2018 12.9 and it’s great, especially compared to the old 12.9.

If it's not a gift, get your money back! Save that cash for a better product.

I'm waiting for a high quality 4k tablet to come out before I buy another tablet(i only use my tablets for browsing and movies). Hopefully, either Samsung or Sony comes through next year.
4k apple will put only for 15" or above maybe
