Whew, this really can't be coincidence... my old Power Mac G4 died on the very same day the new iMacs came out... I mean I planned to replace it, but not until I'd get my new iMac ;D
So I ordered the 21.5" with the 4670 yesterday evening... now it's, once again, waiting time.

R.I.P. Power Mac :)

I feel like I am the only one that has chosen the wired keyboard with numeric keypad with the new iMac, instead of the compact wireless one.
When I order a desktop computer I want a real keyboard :D

I wish there was a wireless keyboard with full keypad... I am still uncertain wich keyboard I'm gonna order... I prefer wireless, but at the same time, I hate small keyboards... So what to do??? Lol.

I got the wired with the numeric keyboard.I too hope there would be a wireless with the keypad. I dont think I will survive using a keyboard without a keypad and the extra 2 usb ports

Got my 27" iMac last night! its immense, obviously.

However its not waking from sleep with the BT mouse or keyboard. The power button wakes it most of the time but its a bit unreliable as its taken a few presses sometimes. I've checked the system pref>bluetooth>advanced to make sure they are allowed to wake the imac from sleep. Any ideas?

It blows my mind that i can view my images taken from my Nikon D80 at 50% in photoshop and it still fits in the screen, marvellous!

Yeah... I'm so looking forward for photo editing on the 27" screen :)
Also, the new iMac will be alot faster than my current computer... so I can handle 12 Megapixel RAW files in Lightroom decently.

I too ordered a full size keyboard with my 27". You aren't the only one.

Have you tried to use it as a monitor yet? I'm thinking about buying a DisplayPort -> Mini DisplayPort cable and plugging my gaming rig into it. I won't buy the new iMac unless it's capable of that. And I really want that new iMac. :p

I'm pretty sure its the 27" one that can handle games consoles and dvd players etc.

Yes, according to Apple the 27" is the only one with the input capabilities.

Also, according to them (source is another thread in this forum) it won't discriminate devices, it will display anything that gives a proper signal (for example if the HDMI->MiniDP adapters work with PS3s and the like).

Tried it with a Belkin MDP-MDP cable, the 27" worked with both my MBP and the MP. So until they release a MDP-HDMI I can't test to see if the PS3 will work, but I think it should.

Did any of the new iMac buyers NOT get Apple Care to cover their bets?

I got the Apple Care. I read where a Consumers Report reporter stated to purchase warranty on two things...computers and hdtv's.

I decided to go verify (google) and here is what I found:

" Consumer Reports published a report urging its readers to avoid all extended warranties with two exceptions: AppleCare for Macintosh computers and extended warranties for rear-projection microdisplay TVs. The magazine recommended extended warranties for these specific TVs due to a higher repair rate, while the company said that Appleis policy of offering only 90 days of phone support for its Macs gives AppleCare value to those buying Macs."

Three years' guarantee on a brand new product seemed like a no brainer for me. I like the security and the 3 years phone support. Being new to Mac OS this will save hours of times. I also bought the One to One for 99.00. 52 hours of private lessons for $99.00? Amazing. I have taken 3 one on ones so far and they are great. Apple has a 'no hands' policy so you do all the work.

I know what you mean.....I bought a wired keyboard (with numeric) for $49.00 at the store, so I got both the wired and the wireless. I made the decision because being a pretty fast typer, I couldn't find 'my place' on the wireless and couldn't type properly. I could be wrong but I think the wireless keyboard's letters are set closer or something just doesn't have the same feel as a 'normal' keyboard layout. The wired keyboard is perfect. It does't feel crowded to me. All of this is such personal preference and adjustments can be learned, but I didn't like the way the wireless felt and because the wired was available and it felt better, I spent the extra $$$. For what I do on the computer it was worth it.

Very nice indeed. Good picture and I wish my desk was as clean as yours.
Ditto

Here are some more (last one is a wee bit embarrasing, though:D

Very nice. One thing spoils the picture though - that butt-ugly stack of plastic drawers under one of the desks. It is an offense against good taste everywhere. TAKE IT OUT, or I'll send the FASHION AND DESIGN POLICE over to your place to decontaminate it and safely remove the atrocity.

Robin Williams wrote about Snow Leopard??? I had no idea! Wow, so he's a comedian, an actor and an OS geek?! Impressive! Now, who has the David Pogue "missing manual" for SL? Any good?

Wired - wireless keyboard. I already have the wired one, and LOVE it. So, since I already have it, when I'll order the 27" iMac, I'll ask for the wireless one. My problem with wireless is not the size, but that they never seem to work for me. I've tried bluetooth mice many times, and a couple of keyboards, and there were always problems - dropped connections, sleep/wake problems, lack of precision compared to wired and on and on and on. As Steve might say - A BAG OF HURT. In my experience. YMMV.

Also worth nothing - even if you don't want the wireless one, you can always sell it (good value on ebay). then you can go out and by a wired one and still have plenty of dosh lyin about.

I'm wondering the same thing too, but I haven't heard one complaint yet from the new iMac crowd. Is the wireless keyboard/mouse working perfectly?

Very funny! And what's worse is this book is published by Peachpit Learning Series. Seriously though, I went to Barnes and Noble sat with several books. I came up with a potential OS question and see which book answered it effectively. This one won. Most of the people here don't need such a rudimentary crutch. I love seeing the pictures posted here and have enjoyed the uTube videos of the unpacking ceremony. I am so glad I found you guys here, I can't tell you how it made my decision to purchase such an easy one. Thanks for posting and helping.

Same thing here. My G4 tower gave up the ghost last weekend after eight years. It looks like I'll be ordering the 21.5" plus 4670 as well. Seems like a great replacement. Will have to find a use for my 15" Apple Studio Display which still works like a charm. The extra screen space on the new iMac will be a revelation. The 27" just looks like overkill considering I've gotten by all this time with a 15" screen...
