bad news for the new mini, the belgian website put the links to the haswell-minis down!!!

maybe it was all a fake and the site just wanted to get more views :(

I really hope, that apple releases a updated mini soon, hopefully no redesign with soldered ram and hard drive

Mac Mini out of stock at Amazon.com

Not sure what it means but Amazon ran out of stock of all configurations of the mac mini a couple of days ago and their website listed it as "usually ships in 1 to 2 months" and now it just says "Temporarily out of stock" Hmm Hoping this is a sign that the new mini is on the way. Would love to see it assembled in the USA like the MacPro, wondering if that is part of the hang up? Also wishing for them to drop FW and add an extra TB2 port in its place to go along with a new TB2 display. In black please!!

My favourite webshop (not amazon) lists it as temporarily NOT available. It's coming... Another shop shows how many weeks they expect to make deliveries: http://www.bol.com/nl/s/computer/zo...c/computer_all/searchtext/mac+mini/index.html

I hate to say it but it probably will not be upgradeable if the enclosure has been redesigned. If the hard drives remain it will be serviceable. If it's PCI with blades then it won't be. We will just have to "belly up" and pay those Apple ram and ssd
prices.

Same in here in austria, big computer-shop: http://www.ditech.at/item.do?kurzbez=PCA388

very few shops have one or two minis in stock

the rest is red (not aviable) and it says:

36 Stk. nachbestellt, Liefertermin: unbekannt
english: 36 pieces reorderd, Shippingdate: unknown

In my experience, when a product is discontinued, it usually say this.

Let's hope for a soon update of the mini ;)

Or maybe Apple put pressure on to remove it.

It might hurt the sales on the current mac mini or even macbook and imac if release date is confirmed.

Posted this in another thread, but there seem to be two up-to-date threads regarding a possible February refresh:

Just noticed that Amazon US has the 2.3 i7 Mac Mini for $739. This is their lowest price ever. More supporting evidence?

That's very strange, since the current Mini comes with Mavericks.
Apple will not demote the default OS.
Probably those Mini were in stock, before the release of Mavericks

Like heck I will.

If that is the case, I will hold onto my 2012 cMBP until they pry it from my cold dead hands. Apple has lost $$$ on me by making everything non-user upgradeable.

Got mine last week from B&H. It booted right up on Mavericks. I did not try an Internet install to see which OS is in the ROM.

Okay, may be they got the newest shipment..
I got mine in the beginning of the year and it was ML.

The Mini supposedly has been an entry level or crossover machine for PC desktop users to get their feet wet in the Apple/Mac ecosystem. It worked with me. After purchasing a relatively inexpensive 2011 i5 Mini two years ago and two 2012 i7 Minis this past year I am now moving towards going mostly Mac as I consider getting a 13" MBP.

... On the other hand Apple could save a lot of development costs if they skipped the Haswell Mini update and just focused on Broadwell.

Oddly, it worked in reverse with me. I've had Apple for 30+ years. Through the 90s & 00s I had the Power Mac towers--always top of the line--until 2011 when I got a mini for a secondary computer. Now I realize I don't need the top-end Macs since I do very little video and concentrate on static graphics, writing/publishing text, and audio/music composition. I would only get a Pro if I ever have to do major video editing.

I have a feeling Apple will save a dime. They will release something redesigned for the next major chip set: the die shrink coming later this year. That is a 4-year span with one design, just like the last design.

LOL @ the title

Anyway, I have been using the Mini for 4 years and it is an absolute joy of compact entertainment box. I also use it for music listening, feeding digital audio into my DAC, amp & speakers. But I recently found out that my 2008 MacBook produces better dynamic & detail to my speakers. I don't know if this is de to the internal interference inherent in mini super compact design or this is more about the quality of its audio component
