Apple makes the process limited. I don't expect that to ever change, in fact people are saying they have too many choices already.

The only time "too many choices" is a problem is when none of them are what you really want and you're trying to figure out what compromises you can live with as none are ideal. That can make it feel like there are too many choices.

Otherwise, "too many choices" isn't much of something to complain about, is it? :)

i think they can announce a new mac mini in March event.
What type of intel cpu does the mac mini use? maybe core M fanless to be the cheapest and silent

And the best keyboards...i see people blame the macbook keyboard, but i wait for the rest of OEM to make their laptops even thinner and make a new keyboard and after that we talk.
Its just a thing of habit. We all used the standard keyboard for a decade and now a change will be notice.
But after a decade with this new keyboard will see if people will blame it still

I use the Logitech keyboard with my Mini.

Amazon had the on sale for $63 a few days ago.

It's bluetooth with backlit keyboard and self contained rechargeable battery via usb. I can use it with the iPad and phone.

Apple should have introduced a backlit keyboard for desktops instead of what they came out with. It just silly they charge so much and we get so little.

I also use that same Logitech keyboard with my MacBook Pro in clamshell mode, and with my iPad. It is an excellent keyboard, better than the Apple keyboard it replaced in my opinion, because it feels just as good and it's backlit and rechargeable.

I´ve been delaying my purchase half a year, and the new Mac Mini is not coming on time for me.

I start a mobile game & app developer course this January and my 2010 MPB overheats as soon as I boot. I don't expect it to survive a 5 hours Xcode session.

Forgive me for this, but if I spend my money for the 799€ Mini, I hope the new 2016 Mini is not coming before at least a whole year. Wish U a long wait!!:oops:

I bought 2012 i5 mini from my son in law. He wasn't using it much.
I have on my Christmas list to get a different keyboard and a mouse instead of the track pad.

Generally not an :apple: fanboy, but Amen to that. :)
I have little experience with track pads, but am shopping for a 2013 MB Air. What do Apple track pads do better? Curious what positive I will experience w/ MB Air TP compared to borrowing my wife's 15" Dell Inspiron occasionally.

Ergonomic wireless KB.
Since we're on the keyboard topic, anyone have an ergonomic WL keyboard they recommend for El Capitan? I reaaaally miss my MS Wireless Comfort Keyboard 5000 with it's 10 key pad and hot keys. W/ El Capitan the hot keys don't work and worse, the Command/ Control buttons cannot be switched to match apple KB.
EDIT: THis thread looks hopeful for a cure to MS keyboard woes w/ El Capitan. I'm trying this now. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7267759?start=0&tstart=0
Seems Karabiner App allows changes to MS keyboards. https://pqrs.org/osx/karabiner/
WL Mouse.
Only thing I don't like about the Apple BT mouse is that I accidentally always side scroll in my Excel spreadsheets. Is there a way to desensitize or turn off just left/right scroll? In prefs. I see I don not have web page L/R scroll box selected, so that is not it.

I find them smoother operating so less tiring, more accurate, and faster to position. This is based on using dozens of different computers of students in recent years, when their trackpads worked (and often they were broken) they were infuriating. The Apple trackpads are a joy. In fact I got to carrying around a mouse to use with students non-Apple computers.

and worse, the Command/ Control buttons cannot be switched to match apple KB.

This should be fixable with System Preferences --> Keyboard --> Modifier Keys.

Thanks for the info.

That would change my Apple wired KB too wouldn't it? I don't want to do that because I keep the Apple wired KB behind my WL KB on my KB tray for when I need wired for 'Option' / Start up to boot from different volume.

Yes it would, but for such infrequent use, I'd just "suffer" or maybe also put stickers on the keys.

stickers on keys would actually as you say for the rare use. I tried swapping the Command and Control keys in the Mac KB's system prefs as you noted, but id did not change the key output of the MS keyboard.(

Now that's strange. I don't use a Microsoft keyboard but 26 year old Northgate Omnikey keyboards and it works for them.

What Talmy said at #5890.

Which is not to say other brands of trackpad are bad. Just that Apple's are so well done. Even my anti-Apple friends are happy to admit they love Apple's trackpads, particularly the surface feel, silky as.

I think he thinks it`s dead.

I have to believe that Apple would not let one of there best sellers go quietly into the night.

Have faith , not in Apple , but in those that demand from them a new and better Mac Mini !! :D

We can hope that someone at Apple`s HQ monitors this forum and looks for key words like Mac Mini Update.

Happy New Year :)

I use the desktop trackpad with the Mini and I understand wrist issues. I used to use a trackball for years when doing CAD drawing and it ruined my wrist.

It best to use whatever feels comfortable.
I tried all manner of input options and in the 90s finally found relief in a tablet (Wacom) which I've since used for all heavy computing. The 'pen' allows for a natural posture and transfers movements (which are then smaller) to the entire arm. And if you map the SW 1:1 with the screen - also faster.

Post 6000 FTW!
