And the extra 1.5TB??
And it sounds likely will no longer be a couple of weeks so I really don‘t get you tbh.

I didn't see the storage configuration in your screenshot

playing around on the apple page it seems you just so happen to want the exact configuration with the longest shipping time

if this is truly the machine you want then sign up for a refurb store alert for that configuration and you will be informed when one is available

or if you really just want an m5 than I'm not sure why you wouldn't just wait it out

What are your requirements: RAM, SSD, ports?
2TB SSD, RAM 24GB or more.
Will just be used with 1 monitor so no special port requirements.

There is a great clearance deal on a MBP here in Switzerland, only 512GB and 16GB, cheaper than refurbished, which would allow me to get rid of the intel machine, enjoy a modern mac and see how much I‘d use it as a laptop and when I sell it I should lose very little.
That‘s my current thinking at least, I don‘t want to be using the old mini for months, it‘s been driving me mad.

What is the meaning of your „just so happen“ comment?
The chances of that config appearing in a small country like mine are very slim at this stage.
I‘ve already said I don‘t want to spend many more months on my old, sluggish computer.

Plus, for a short while, Apple UK had all Mac mini models arriving June 9th, which is the day after the WWDC keynote. Just another data element pointing to a WWDC announcement.
Yeah but there’s precious few examples of hardware launches at WWDC - a software event.

Sometimes they drop stuff before, I don’t recall much shortly after. Tim Cook hinting at shortages for the rest of the year suggests no new launches potentially for the rest of 2026 till they get the backlog sorted. Maybe their way of rationing supply is to reduce stocks of low margin skus hence in addition the discontinuing of the base Mac mini because a repricing appears to be against Apple modus operandi at this time.

The other thing they can respond with is reconfiguring the eventual m5 mini and studio range. As I’ve said, push the m5 pro into the studio range with high spec.

And offer an all m5 mini possibly with A19 pro base model.

Yes all m4 mini models

That has nothing to do with new models

When you shop for a Mac online and it tells you a ship date it’s for the model you are ordering. Not some as of yet non existent future model

Of course there was a period when Mac mini models would arrive in 9 June. And those probably will arrive on 9 June

There was probably also a period when they would arrive on 8 June, and 10 June

Calling that a “data point” about new models is richly imaginative

Can’t hurt to sign up for the refurb alert if that’s what you really want.

That’s how I got my studio

The arrival date for one model
Well, there was precedent when a new model was imminent that the delivery date would magically extend out to a week after the next release event. The new Apple Store ordering scheme makes that a little muddier now so it's harder to predict when a new model would come out beyond the usual predicable dates (September for iPhone, October for Macs, and maybe March time for mid season stuff).

That's why I think a June 9 date is less likely to be related to news models especially given Tim Cook's remarks over desktop availability. He won't want people holding on all year for something that might be delayed, without saying that desktops are being delayed of course.

I need a PC for my amateur radio equipment. I have this Mini PC, it is very good, loaded with Windows 11 Pro. I am looking to do a dual-boot setup using Zorin OS, a Linux flavor that is killing Windows. Instead of replacing a perfectly good computer to load 11, people are loading Zorin instead.

Maybe you should talk with @bapegg . They just bought a Neo to use with their radio equipment. 🙂

Ordered an M5 Macbook Pro 16/512 at 30% less than the 1TB price and a Crucial X10 2TB external SSD.
Will keep me going until the Mini/Studio mess is sorted and I should be able to sell on at minimal loss if necessary.

What is the confidence level for a Mac mini M5 in June?

I remember waiting for ages for the 2018, the M1… life is an endless cycle. 🙃

I have always believed new minis and studios would be announced and released in the fall

Others here have talked themselves in to believing an announcement is imminent

I guess we’ll see
