I don't think they'd drop a port.
What About the Air? It's the space that counts, right?

It would have to be wider to accommodate the optical drive and hard drive, if it gets made thinner, perhaps more apple-tv like.
Keep in mind also that the mac mini uses a laptop hard drive, so it is unlikely in my opinion to see anything above 250GB in the next revision... if that next revision comes![]()
Um...you can get a 320GB HDD for a notebook for a decent price compared to 250, so 320 wouldn't shock me. There are also 500GB drives available, so that would easily be a BTO option.
I really don't see any reason to make the Mac Mini smaller. Every person I have shown it to says, "THAT'S a computer?!?!?!?" There's no reason to make it smaller for the sake of making it smaller. Maybe round off the edges some more, but not much more. I'd actually like it to be just taller enough to put some USB ports on the front, but a little recessed.
Yeah, but they like to keep the mini crippled. Given that the MacBook Pro accommodates a maximum of 300GB (BTO), i don't see the mini getting more than it any time soon.Um...you can get a 320GB HDD for a notebook for a decent price compared to 250, so 320 wouldn't shock me. I don't see any need to make it smaller either. If you were replying to my comment, i was responding to some of the OP's mock-up.I really don't see any reason to make the Mac Mini smaller. If they want to sell more than five, yes. Despite the love affair Steve has with all things downloadable, nobody's going to jack down $600 or so for an "entry-level" computer without an optical drive. The MBA wasn't made to be a primary computer. The Mac Mini is. You're going to have to put software on it somehow, and it's just ludicrous to not have an optical drive.
In fact, I'd like to take a big, heavy Blu-ray Disc player and beat Steve over the head with it until he realizes we want it!!!!! You can get a sub-$1000 Dell Inspiron with one, but the Mac line is too good for it?
If they make the mini any smaller the weight of the DVI cable will flip it off the desk!
