I prefer keyboards without key travel or very little key travel. The reason i make most mistakes is because I didn't press the keys hard enough. So I am thrilled with the MacBook's lack of key travel. I just wanted to purchase one with a larger screen and more powerful machine with more ram.

I learned to type many years ago on a manual typewriter, so even old-style computer keyboards with a lot of travel bothered me at first. I eventually become accustomed to them, though. I went through a similar transition when I got my first "flat" Apple keyboard, but I now prefer them. I haven't tried the MacBook, but I could probably get used to it over time.

Best Buy has further reduced the retail price of the MBP line. Was $150 last week and now on sale $200 off retail. At that price I can get the 13.3 rMBP with 512GB for the same price as the 256GB version less taxes. I am so tired of waiting for the refresh.

My guess (sadly) is that you'll be much happier if you buy the current versions. These may be the last, best laptops, before Apple goes completely into the wormhole of 'thinness at all costs'. Sacrificing everything; power, battery life, ports, keyboard comfort, magsafe, ect.

Provided they don't ditch all thunderbolt and USB ports in favour of some new standard, I am hopeful for the next rMBP.

Kind of hoping they do it in the same black as the matte black iPhone 7, as an option, it would appeal to me!

Well some leaks(?) show USB-c ports only on both the 13 and 15 MBP

Not sure which model you are looking at at BB but I recently bought an early 2015 rMBP from a certified dealer on eBay for $1425. I wanted one that has all the ports offered now and didn't want to chance them changing the new ones. Came with the one year warranty. Very happy with it. Did a quick search and there is this that looks pretty close to one at BB. Processor is not as fast. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Brand-New-S...420589?hash=item2ef4f87a6d:g:g54AAOSwAuZX1953

As long as the thunderbolt HDD I bought for like $400 AUD and the thunderbolt docks I use at work and home are still going to work, and they offer USB-C adapters to suit all apple peripherals (lightning cables etc) then, sure, I don't mind USB-C.

This has got to be one of the top 10 worst comments I've seen on here. A+ trolling to both Apple and Pippen.

Can Apple be holding back another surprise for us with the new MacBook, like a 4k display (one can only dream).

I don't see why not, Dell already have one on the XPS 15. The only reason I can see them holding back on that is battery life, which I gather is fairly poor on the Dell.

Really top ten worst? have you only read ten? Trolling, you need to expand your horizons if you think that is trolling. Just because you don't agree with what a poster says does not make it trolling.

Is calling out an obvious truth trolling now? Hey if anything, callling me a 'troll' for calling out an obvious truth is actually more in line with the definition of trolling, IMO

You're off your rocker. The new MBP regardless of design will be faster on all accounts (processor, memory, hdd, wireless bands), it will have a brighter, higher color gamut screen with most likely true tone features, it's going to be more secure with a fingerprint scanner for faster unlocking and online payments and purchases, will introduce OLED top menu bar for customized shortcuts (aka more effiecient productivity; read: faster), faster USB-C data transfers, higher resolution external monitor options etc. etc. etc. all while being thinner/lighter for people that decided they needed a PORTABLE computer rather than a desktop.

This is bare minimum. Intel released new processors, which support new ddr4 memory speeds, SSD's have increased cache and read/write speeds, new wireless A/C chips have come out, the screen will be their new wider color standard for sure (zero doubt), and OSX leaks have come out showing code with fingerprint scanner which will play ball with new browser based Apple Pay, and if it works anything like the phone you'll be able to use it to unlock, make App Store purchases etc.

The leaks have already showed its thinner, and USB-c supports super high bandwidth transfers and 4K external monitors etc.

I feel more than comfortable with people bookmarking these expectations for the announcement and returning to give me a % accuracy. I don't feel like these are out of line expectations in any way, but until announced it's certainly filed under opinion

How old are you, 6? If you dont think any apple laptops created in the past decade arent 'portable' then you have an extremely spoiled, first world, excessively limited view of tech.
And if you cant carry a 15 inch macbook pro from 2010, you need to hit the gym.

What are you talking about????

I was making the argument that Apple is about to announce faster laptops in every single aspect WHILE ALSO being thinner. You just said the existing laptops are the last good ones before they start sacrificing everything for "thinness" because Ive is Pippen without Jordan and a lost little boy in a big world.

You are wrong. The new laptops will be thinner AND faster in every aspect.

And for reference, I consider myself old compared to a lot of people on this forum (30's). I grew up when laptops were 4" thick and weighed 20 pounds haha

The processors may be faster for a minute, in synthetic tests, but intensive rendoring and/or other high cpu tasks in the real world may reveal how severe the throttling becomes due to the thermal constraints apple puts on it because of the 'thinness'.
Either way, if there's no way to upgrade the SSD (which all current mac laptops have), that would be the final deal killer for me anyway. In a so-called "pro" laptop, that's the one last critical user-upgradeable thing that I like to have the flexibility to do.
The first reason is the '2011' prices apple still charges for their SSD's. But also, I can guarantee you that these new models will max out at a 1tb ... and within a year or two we'll be seeing 2 and 4tB SSD's in all sorts of other 'pro' laptops - for reasonalbe prices. Being stuck for good a 1tb (even if I did pay Apple's absurd prices) would be unacceptable to me.

All in all, we can agree to disagree. That said, I still think you need to hit the gym. ;)

I think by portable, he means something that can be easily carried with one hand for getting from one place to another, not something that you would have to have a backpack just to be able to go the distance. A machine size and weight of 2010 MBP would fall far short of what today's portability means. Think of the difference between a 13" MBP and the 12" MB, one is clearly a desktop replacement, while the other is closer to a mobile device.

The trend in the industry is pretty clear, that ultrabook classe (3 lb) and heavier laptops are going into specialized niches; and a few years from now, they will be as rare as gaming laptops and for people with special needs. Most of the consumer laptops by then will be around 2lb or less, and with thickness around or below 10mm.

This is how I see it too. Those who believe 'Pro' means a super high spec desktop replacement are going to be disappointed soon. These machines are getting thinner and lighter with good specs, but certainly wont see any huge speed increases on the current models.

With regards the current weight of the machines, most of us can easily carry a 15" laptop no problems, but if it is in your bag all day and is required to be carried around to a lot of places, it is not much fun. I have done this several times and have wished I had not brought it. Bringing it to and from an office environment is a totally different game and is just fine for that.

I am moving to a new co working office soon where I intend to work in various locations within it. The imac will stay on the desk for heavy production work and a lightweight 13" MBP plus ipad pro will be fine for everything else I will need on the go. If the 13" doesn't get a decent weight reduction I will look at the 12"MB, although really this is compromise device for me [had one before].

I see trolling, but that was just a terrible terrible comment. Everything about it is cringe worthy. Nothing to do with not agreeing with it. Lots of people say stuff all the time I don't agree with.

What truth have you spoken other than you are obviously trolling and out of touch with the reality of what Apple has been doing for the last 15 years?

Just saw the Google Pixel Phone, was thinking of it as an alternative before I purchase an iPhone, and nope no competition here, iPhone wins hands down. Lets just say that I find both iOS and Android easy and functional, and I keep them at neutral ground. Next thing that attracts me is design, and well Apple sure as hell knows how to make something look good (perhaps not function...e.g. Magic Mouse). But man LOOK GOOD, IT WILL!

P.S. The Pixel seems like a ripoff iPhone or HTC (which its based on).
