Moderator Note: As Lacero mentions, please add your current avatar to your post as an inline attachment. If you don't do this, your post will make no sense when you change your avatar.

I am creating this thread to keep a record of user avatars. Feel free to post your latest avatar, perhaps a word or two about why you chose that particular one, and date of 'avatarial birth'.

Mine will be posted soon, however I'm on my laptop and I accidentally removed my avatar trying to play along with that demi-god(dess) game of the fading avatars. So until I can get back to my other Mac at home, this will be my contribution for now.

edit: Before I forget, save your avatar as an inline attachment.

It is readily distinctive and the ones that are associated easily with members all share that type of quality.

Mine is right under my user name for all to see. I rarely change it unless to signify something important personally. It is my public 'face' on these forums and by keeping it the same it more strongly reinforces a projected identity over time.

It's also easy to spot when looking through a long thread and it matches the general colour palette of the forums as well as the colour of our user-names.

As well as being a photoshopped crop of a still from my favorite-ever film, it also says something about my relative need for privacy and seclusion and anyone familiar with the film 'Blue Velvet' would also know that it represents themes such as secrecy and depravity but also optimism.

For a few hours once I changed it for the Pirate Game on April 1st... but I can't find that 'tar anymore... and when I was off ill and absent from these boards for some months I changed it to this:

Yours is among the most highly recognizable avatars and it is a great match for the reasons you provided. When I was permitted to choose one, I was going to use a picture of an actress I always liked and still miss almost 25 years since her untimely and questionable death -- Natalie Wood. Since I thought it could have had more clarity and brightness, I decided not to use it.

I've had too many to remember, but I really do admire and like Steve Jobs.

We share some simlar traits: Desire for perfection, ticking bomb at times...

I especially like the old vintage ones of him. The current one is of him at the first expo they showed the IIe at.

this was my first one: but then apple had to go to intel so i changed it to my current one. I did it myself in photoshop..... i was going to go with the blueish apple icon but the intel logo wouldn't look good

I've had the same avatar since I hit 500 posts – just a little Subbuteo player in the colours of our local team. I did toy with the idea of changing it a while back, but I've grown quite fond of the little chap so I decided to stick with him.

Saying that, I do have a couple of slight variations up my sleeve for the future... ;)

I've never changed my avatar, just added things to it once and a while. My avatar may appear to just be an old man, but it's really Captain Humor.

Mine's a silly drawn picture of me. Which pretty much sums me up. :D

However, I also wanted one I could customise a bit, yet still remain recognisable. So far I've done these, and no doubt will think of a Christmas theme at some point. :)

Mine have, except for the April Fools Day, all been variations of this shot which is me doing a somersault while slightly drunken on a trampoline in Germany... I chose it as a temporary image which showed me while keeping me relatively anonymous until I thought of something better...

Mine was made by Stoid for which I am greatful. I have no clue how to make an aimated picture. The idea of the bouncing Apple was mine, but he created it, and put it in the dock. It turned out really well.

well mine, pretty obviously is Mrs. T. many debates have started about her so i wont go into it here! but i do like the woman (not in that way :D) - IN MY OPINION - she is one of the greatest PM's this country has had and probably ever will have. so an obvious choice then.

prior to this, i had my car for a while.

i am thinking of changing to john major soon just for the fact he is soooo cool - his dad owned a gnome factory - that is cool! :D

or maybe mr. cameron to celebrate his victory!

Only just got to 6502 status today, so just went for a plain simple anti-Windows avatar. It's the image of a old and simple Windows keyboard, with the only three keys you'll ever need for that OS: Ctrl, Alt, Del.
