I've used this avatar since Apple announced the Tiger specs on apple.com, and I saw the Bonjour logo.

Its perfect for me, because there are three dots (dotdotdot) connected together.

So when people see that avatar, they know its me because a) I haven't changed it in a LONG time, and b) because my name is Dotdotdot and there are three dots...

Except for April Fools, I've always had my tree as an avatar. When I made my first website, I wanted some sort of logo/symbol, so I made that tree to represent my life. For some reason a couple of my friends are really fond of the tree, so I've kept it. I didn't really have anything else to use for my avatar, so I've just used the tree.

Champagne Sketch Comedy!!
The Late Show was and still is the greatest sketch comedy show ever made in the history of the world. Yes that includes SNL,Little Britain and The Comedy Company.

I just thought it looked funny, a bit out there and very Australian. I'll probably never change it as it really does stand out and has a little bit of something about it - I think it's the only avatar on here with a bottle of grog clearly visible.

Mine is right under my user name for all to see. I rarely change it unless to signify something important personally. It is my public 'face' on these forums and by keeping it the same it more strongly reinforces a projected identity over time.

Blue Velvet, I appreciate your constancy w/r/t your avatar. There is something non-verbal and reassuring about a constant avatar; there is no need to look at the poster's name. Before the demi-games started, I really started to develop a familiarity with posters here. Not that I don't appreciate the cleverness of the games.

After 2 years of posting now and again I am creeping towards an avatar; I plan to use the one below-- it is from the cover of a 1987 edition of one of my favorite books; William Faulkner's Absalom Absalom; it is an artist's interpretation (heavily influenced by Thomas Hart Benton) of Colonel Sartoris.

Currently using the lovely Miss Garner, mostly because of a joke about so many people using images of women as their avatars. For a short time, I used the bondage woman, which is the cover image from the album Signify by Porcupine Tree.
I've also used several Marilyn Manson images at one time or another. I think as many people were thrown off by my dropping MM as were thrown off by my recent name change.

Mine is under my name.

It started as a CAD project for one of my classes. Then I joined an aviation forum (x-plane.org) and realized I had the perfect material for an original avatar there. To I took a couple of screen shots in different propeller rotations and made a gif. As you can tell, this is not something I do regularly.

Anyway, so when I hit 500 posts I wanted something here but couldn't think of anything else so I used the one I already had. Besides it is more unique than a mac supporting one on these forums and I don't need that anyway since my allegiances should be quite obvious simply from the fact that I have 500 hundred posts on this website.

And that is probably more info that any of you wanted about my avatar. Sorry.

Wow I'm glad I caught this thread! Didn't know you changed your name I dig that smilie. It looks just like Curly - who I've had almost the entire time since I hit 500 posts.
