Quite a lot of information there, and a few nods to how things are going...

Daniel is SO Starbuck! The five Earth Cylons knew what was going to happen right from the beginning, yet "had their memories wiped" and became immersed in events. Ellen and Sam also both mentioned that they didn't invent resurrection technology, they rediscovered it. This is a nod to Glen A. Larson and the re-imagining of BSG by Moore and Eick.

On the subject of Starbuck it was mentioned that Daniel was artistic, but that the "John" Cavill was jealous and corrupted the amniotic fluid to change the genetic code. I'm certain this is a nod to RDM's decision back at the beginning to make Starbuck a woman. Daniel became a woman, just as RDM changed the sex of the Starbuck character.

Also the love lives point to her being a Cylon. Six has fallen in love with Saul. Eight (Sharon) fell in love with Galen, and Kara fell in love with Sam. The created are subconsciously programmed to fall in love with their creators. This is why Ellen asked John to hug her and why he refused. He knows what she was trying to do.

What I think they are possibly aiming at is that Kara was created to be the heart of the resurrection technology, and therefore the Resurrection Hub requires a Kara model at the centre of it to run. The Kara Cylon can possibly as a result self-resurrect, which is how we are now on Kara Thrace III even without the Hub being in place.

As for Galactica, once that organic stuff starts thriving in her innards I wonder what's going to happen there. Rather than fall apart could Galactica change into something else entirely? Could Lee's request to reconstruct the Quorum based on people being Galacticans etc. become a reality as Galactica becomes their new home?

I can't wait for tonight's episode.

With my "extra" free time, I have been watching the DVD sets, and I am glad I did. Although I have seen many episodes, my travel for work meant that I missed a big chunk of seasons 3 and 4. And watching the DVDs definitely allows me to fill in the gaps.

The downside to watching it on DVD, is that is makes it more sad to see the show go though.

I am surprised they don't sell Viper models anywhere. (ok, I didn't look very hard.)
Edit: I guess I REALLY didn't look at all, only the official SciFi store. :p

Just bought Season 3 (had seen it before on TV) and it amazes me how consistently good this show has been. I will be heartbroken in a month from now....

I watched a few episodes of season 1 on DVD after the last season started. I was hooked. I borrowed and finished season 2, then hit the torrent sites to catch up before the last season ended. It was like crack. Odd thing is, I really don't watch anything else regularly now that Doctor Who is not on the air, again...

Tonight's episode was a bit of a letdown compared to the last several. What was with the Chief doing a 180 and voting to leave? That was totally out of character, especially after getting reinstated as chief and doing all that work on Galactica. Also, Ellen is now on my hated character list. She is one evil, manipulate witch. She is also a hypocrite for calling Cavil unbalanced but then going on to cause Caprica's baby's death.

I'm 180 from you on this one. This was the best episode in 4.5 so far, maybe even better than Moore's. So many scenes ended on the perfect button, like Laura agreeing with Jean's "beautiful" after Gaius gives his pathetic little syllogism, except she's staring at her new assault rifle... or Ellen realizing with a little horror that her return to Saul's life has basically torn it apart and killed his child (and realizing that's what she secretly wanted!).

I for one am really glad that Ellen's personality has survived her cylonification in a way that Anders's and Tory's haven't so much - not that Tory ever had one. Like you say, she's a manipulative witch, but that's her character and it has always made chaos for the crew ever since the very beginning. This is the diabolical Ellen of her very first episode, Tigh Me Up, Tigh Me Down.

I guess a little comedy background like Espenson's makes for a good grasp of irony in drama. Revelations like Tigh's baby being named after William Adama hit harder than "who's the next cylon really?" because they transform a character we think we've got figured out (and, like a chain reaction, the baby's namesake reveals to us that Ellen, despite claiming she was just trying to hurt Tigh, was really correct about his love for Adama above all else).

This was such a rich episode. Espenson does Baltar better than anyone, and keeps his comedy from overriding his disturbing blindness to his role in other people's plans. I love how the last scene of the episode establishes that Baltar did the wrong thing by convincing Adama to arm his group of clueless vigilantes and, by extension, that Baltar's hallucination seems to have it in for him. That Espenson can do all this while making us chuckle at his "we need GUNS! Lots of guns!" line is really very skilled.

However, I do wonder about Tyrol's choice to leave the fleet after risking his life to save it during the revolution. Also, why would the cylons ever leave the fleet without the final five with them to rebuild resurrection? The whole point of them staying with the fleet was for protection, and their need for protection doesn't seem to have changed much since they left Earth.

I don't know if this came from the script, but there were some fine shots, too. Adama filling the frame with his grimacing, amber face as he pours his also amber-colored drink was quite a good angle. Tigh's tussle with Ellen on the briefing room floor was another one that stuck with me. Also: Ellen's hand reappearing on Tigh's shoulder after their argument in the sick bay.

Finally, I can't give Trisha Helfer enough credit for portraying like seven different versions of Six simultaneously and making them all convincingly different.

A month from now? I am already heartbroken. :(

I have been watching this last season right on time, in the past I missed a few episodes, and thanks to my local library, I have been catching up and filling all the gaps.

The episode was a mixed bag for me. Just like Marble said, some of the stuff in there ended in a nice spot and shows that something is going to hit the fan soon. Ellen is herself, which I believe deep down we all expected :D

The Chief's vote took me by surprise. I missed a few minutes and I need to watch the episode again, but I don't recall him saying that he votes yes, just not speaking at all.

The last episode of the series is on my birthday, so a great treat. :D :p

Quick Question

How did Ellen (Boomer) find the fleet? Space is massive and they were no where near earth.

Also if Ellen can find them then why not John (Cabal?)

I could be wrong, but I thought that the fleet was still running away when they detected danger, and they were ready for it this time again. i.e. "bad" Cylons are always just one step behind.

Since the major fight, I thought there basically have not been any skirmishes or contact between the fleet and the "bad" Cylons?

Dr. Baltar's internal Capricavision is back... I wonder if Caprica will start seeing him again too? That's a part of the plotline that kind of got left behind several episodes ago, and I'm excited to see it come back.

All I know is that the reference to "Daniel" is Starbuck but mutated. She's an artist remember.

Also Does anyone remember John(forget his number) fracking Ellen (Tigh's Wife) on New Caprica which would be John's "mother". Ewwwww.

This always struck me as a bit of a weakness in the plot. Space is big, and you can't track a jump. Want to get away? Simple solution. 20 jumps of random length in random directions. They'll never be able to find you.

The cylons clearly had some way to track a jump as early as the first episode of the series. The metaphysics behind this could have been more adequately explained, though.

AND, technically, his daughter, at least in image.

Don't think about it too much guys, we will go nuts! :p

I've got Seasons 2.5 and 3 from the library. I missed most of 3 in my travels for work.

I also picked up Razor, so should I watch Razor after 2.5? or after 3? Looking for recommendation here, I know it is a parallel type of story, but not sure the best place to fit it.

Thanks. :D

Oh, and I just finished watching the original movie. Wow! I can see why some fans got ticked off at the new series. However, I could feel the Cold War influence (IMHO) and the cheese. :p

The Hybrids can see space in a way that neither the Humans nor the rest of the Cylons are able to. In the same way the Rebel Base Ship was able to track the Resurrection Hub I think the Hybrids can sense Galactica and her fleet.

I hope this isn't a spoiler, but I'll white text it just in case. Razor originally aired as the beginning of season four, but...

It more or less makes sense anytime after Cain dies, since the biggest part of it is to go back and try to explain Cain's character, and it makes the most sense as a sort of epilogue to her life.

LOL! I didn't see the white text until I quoted, D'oh! ;)

I have seen Razor but it was on a tiny screen on a plane and I didn't catch most of it. I guess I can watch it right after I finish 2.5.

I wish there quite a few more "on the side" things like it. Like the minisodes, webisodes, etc. I will really miss this show ... way more than I expected and way more than anything other one that "ended".

I'm really going to miss the show and leading into the last 2 episodes, I am very, very curious as to how this is all going to end. I haven't read any spoilers or anything, but I wonder if they'll end this with some huge cliff hanger like the Sopranos....ie. maybe Gallactica just implodes due to its damage, taking out the rest of the ships?

Or will they find another planet?

driving me nuts this is! :)

Cheers,
keebler

My money is on an explosion, followed by Laura waking up in bed and finding 50 billion Colonists in the shower ;)
