Posted one of these a while back in the POTD thread. The story behind this is that I was sitting a few feet from the stump to discourage Ravens from flying off with three or four peanuts at a time. Made for a good opportunity to get some close-ups of these Jays who were not nearly as shy as the Ravens.

As always, click on one image to get it at full resolution then use arrows to scroll through the set.

At the beginning of this thread I said that if needed I would review the guidelines. Happily that has proven entirely unnecessary.

On more than one occasion I realized the need for a place to post images from family members or even family members who are no longer with us. This after it was made painfully clear that those images are not welcome on the POTD thread.

Was sorting and culling through some photos from 2023 and came up with these two taken by my wife. They are posted here with her kind permission.

Socket to Me!

So these shots have a story behind them. About 3 weeks ago one of the 150Watt bulbs in my basement burned out. I need that much light in that location. And having had one LED light almost start a fire I did not want to put in an LED. However there were no 150W bulbs available locally. No sweat I thought. The socket is rated for 660 watts, I'll just put in one of my old 500watt photo floods. After about 2 weeks I discovered this, even though the bulb was never on for more than 10 minutes at a time. Personal Opinion Only but I'd label the claimed 660 Watt capacity as totally bogus.

Promptly replaced it with a porcelin socket as soon as it came from Amazon.
BTW when installing the plastic version you need to carefully examine the terminals, as they are connected to the socket with a rivet. If there is any play you need to reject the socket or apply a drop of solder to hold the rivet to the terminal plate. I damaged one of the terminals removing the wire. See below.

Hi, hope you don't mind me joining in? I'm no photographer, just using an iPhone, no real clue about proper photography to be honest, but I do very much like a good photo. Been in for a while and busy, but now and then I think of a subject, and muck about..here's a couple of around the house shots.....

Of course you're more than welcome here! Always hard to maintain details in blacks or whites and you managed to do both in the same image.

Just had Dim Sum with our friends. While we were chatting and chillin' in the parking lot, my kid and their kids kept themselves amused by playing with rocks in the parking lot. They were at this for a good 20-30 minutes until we had to leave. Amazing how easily kids at this age can be amused by the most simplest things, unlike most of us needing the latest and greatest tech toy.

Near a kebab shop.....
It's not much of a photo but I've been itching to try this for years, being British it's not a part of our tradition. And it's a bit early, but heck. I've seen Egg Nog in many films from the States, and was intrigued to try it. Well I have now, and it's very nice, for me a little sweet. But I can taste the nutmeg. Very very creamy. Very rich, so for me small sips. But I'm super pleased I finally tried it. I like it!
