In 2021... we will see iPhone 12S models. Apple has always used the "S" line for a spec bump with the "S" being symbolism for "speed."

In 2021, we will get X60 Qualcomm modems... so Apple will talk about improved battery and faster 5G speeds. We will have an A15 processor... likely with more GPU cores... etc. Apple will tout the speed and graphics improvements. Apple will have faster Face ID with a smaller or non-existent notch.... and possibly touch ID in screen or in the power button... and Apple will talk about how unlocking your phone is even faster, Apple will have pro-motion screens in at least SOME of the new phones... and they will talk about how fast that refresh rate is.

Speed.

Next year is an S year. Mark my words.

I think “S” just means improved. I agree with you, since we got the new form factor refresh this year, which I am guessing will stick around for the next 2 years at least.

nope.

if its that many new features

smaller notch
touch id
120 hz

they won't make it an "s" year for marketing and sales reasons. There is no chance they will allow anyone to think its an incremental phone "s" update cycle.

it'll be an iPhone 13 if it has that many new features

If they include all of those features it’ll definitely be a 13. But my guess (which I hope isn’t true) is that they’re gonna add 120hz, new SoC and that’s it.

Didn’t I just read a post about “Mark my word” this is going to happen and it didn’t? Sometimes these posts are kind of off the mark and one should not post these and just wait until we see. Mark my word folks, we’re going to get another post from someone marking their word this is going to happen. We’ve got about 10 more months for the next iPhone to come out, Mark my word.

All of what you have listed is already more in terms of upgrades than what the iPhone 12 received when compared to the iPhone 11. Yet after the iPhone 11 we got the 12 and not the iPhone 11s.

New modem, which I hope they don’t market it as better battery life instead of upgrading the battery.

I’m hoping improved battery life. Minor improvements in other areas would be nice as well.

In my mind the 11 was the XSS. It was just a continuation of the improvements to the X piled on top of improvements from XS. That could be ada i about 6 to 6S to 7 to 8 as well. The 8 was the 6SSS. Lol

it’s all incremental in my mind. Sometimes with bigger leaps in a year than others.

Hopefully we won't need to wear them in the same way we are, but I do hope it becomes common practice to wear one when you're showing symptoms of respiratory illness.
If people are having a huge problem with doing it now, I highly doubt the masses would as common practice. Sad as it would be

I’m with you OP. Was just thinking this 2 days ago. I wouldn’t be surprised the least bit of next year is a slight spec bump and then the 13 with get smaller notch and 120hz and so on. I firmly believe next year will not be the year for 120hz.
