iOS 13 wasn't skipped. 13 doesn't really mean the same things or even anything in particular around the world, as does (or doesn't) 9.
You won't find 13 used in bldgs. or planes in NA. #9 is avoided in Japan.

I think 12s is a good guess. Seems likely that the design is exactly the same with some spec updates. Then they get an excuse to skip 13 and go straight to 14 in 2022.

11 and 7 were the most obscenely "not" S years, in that the phones were identical to their predecessors but got whole new numbers.

iPhone 4s and 5s were major upgrades internally, but kept the number of the phones whose designs they shared.

In 2021... we will see iPhone 12S models. Apple has always used the "S" line for a spec bump with the "S" being symbolism for "speed."

In 2021, we will get X60 Qualcomm modems... so Apple will talk about improved battery and faster 5G speeds. We will have an A15 processor... likely with more GPU cores... etc. Apple will tout the speed and graphics improvements. Apple will have faster Face ID with a smaller or non-existent notch.... and possibly touch ID in screen or in the power button... and Apple will talk about how unlocking your phone is even faster, Apple will have pro-motion screens in at least SOME of the new phones... and they will talk about how fast that refresh rate is.

Speed.

Next year is an S year. Mark my words.
wasn’t speed the theme for this years event ? And how much faster do you need for a phone. I hardly notice any difference between my iPhone 12 and the Xr I traded in as far as speed is concerned. And as far as 5G goes, way overhyped for the limited availability for the wide band. The non wide band 5g is a yawner that just lowers battery life with speeds similar to LTE.

If the reports are true, it’ll have a finger print scanner, smaller bevel, higher memory tiers and better 5G. That in addition to the normal spec updates is an awful lot for an S year.

What sort of reports?

I want a portless iPhone with no physical buttons on the phone with a 6.9 inch display and a telescopic lens and 8K video support.

No charger, no box, no phone. Just send in your money.

Hopefully we won't need to wear them in the same way we are, but I do hope it becomes common practice to wear one when you're showing symptoms of respiratory illness.
I doubt it. All signs pointing to 2021 as more of the same and worst. 2022 is likely when it will taper off. Right now we have 220k deaths in the USA. I think 1 million by end of 2021 with over 50 million infected. Weird to even say that given im a big zombie genre fan.

They'll do whatever they want, the 7, could have been a 6SS, the 8 could have been an 7S, 11 looked like a XSS. They'll just do whatever the marketing and branding team advices is best to increase sales.

What I am trying to say is, there is not a defined pattern anymore, and they do whatever they believe fits each specific release better.

Very arbitrary, let’s not get into the meaning of Pro.
Omg i just realized the xs max is the S year of the iPhone X. Xs!!!!! Haha

They'll save factory costs in 2022 by shipping each component directly from each supplier directly to your house for assembly
That’s pretty much what IKEA do. Well actually you have to collect the items yourself and go and find them in the warehouse locations and trolley them and scan for dispatching to your home location. 🙂
