I've spent a few hours with One UI 7 now and I have to say I really like this update. I've already mentioned the live activities for music/podcasts (I hope other apps made use of that feature, like TheScore or maybe even the various Airline apps) and the Now Bar (I think it's better than Dynamic Island mainly because it's at the bottom of the screen, not the top). What I really like is you can adjust the widget size to your liking, meaning there aren't pre-determined sizes and things don't feel bulky. For example, the weather widget is great, but I've always wanted that to be smaller than it was, and I was always annoyed by that guy/girl character who had no business being there. Now I can shrink it to the point where it's still a widget but it doesn't feel like it pushes everything else down/to the side. In fact, this is what I think Android used to be like 10-15 years ago. There seems to be more freedom to move things around. I still need to learn Good Lock and how you get cool fonts for the clock, but overall, I like this update. I don't think it was worth the delay, but now that it's here, I can finally move forward.

It is an update. My life is still the same. I still have the same phone. 😆 Lol.

Finally it is here!

It will take a few days before the OS settles in. Battery drain may be expected the next few days.

Overall I think Samsung did a good job. They refreshed the Overall UI and made mostly nice changes.

Let's give OneUI 7 a chance but so far it may be one of the nicest updates Samsung has made in years.

It sounds like 18 has been a mess but when I had the 15 pro max, everyone seemed to get the update together no matter your phone. Maybe something has changed but like I said 18 has cause quite a few controversies it sounds like.
Yes, The 15P's have lagged severely in receiving parity with 16P"s and even now both are lagging in respect to Apples coming soon mess that is now class action cases

Samsung have delivered a solid update to the S24 and Fold 6 in half the time of Apple with no false promises and of late are far more consistent than Apple.

It looks like gone are the days of Apples all devices are updated on the same day

Evidently Samsung paused the roll out to One UI 7 recently. I'm glad I got it, but it wasn't until after 11:00 PM on April 8th. I haven't had any issues with the locking situation and I am still liking it so far. I just hope we get One UI 8 this year too, so we can keep up to date with the current Android software.

Again :) it does not quite work like that sometimes Samsung is ahead and sometimes behind on certain features and sometimes you get intermediate updates and others are simply not applicable to Samsung.

Just found out that the Gemini feature that interconnects with Samsung stock apps, such as calendar, works also on the S24 series. I just did that thing where you add the next 5 soccer games of your team to the Samsung calendar app using Gemini. Awesome. I thought that was exclusive to the S25 series.

On the other hand, it seems as Now Brief will come to the S24 also with the OneUI 8 update later this year.

So, considering all this, what's new again with the S25 series (apart from the chip)? Mainly from S24 and S24+ to S25 and S25+.

Seems like those are just the same phones as last year. Just a few new software features (nothing groundbreaking) and the chip.

Seems like the S24 series is becoming an even better deal now, with all the discounts and 97% of the features and hardware of the S25.

Received new update today with the bug fixes Samsung implemented to fix the issue that pulled the OneUI 7 update a few days ago.

That's what that was? I thought it was only going to the S25 series, but it was a pretty good update yesterday. I also finally checked my watch because that hasn't been updated for a while and that got an update yesterday.

Well i updated my S24 Ultra to the April update, it’s not fixed the issues I’ve been having with One UI 7. Disappointed in One UI 7 massively.

What are you refering to ?

Battery issue or your home/lock screen which seems more like a goodlock issue ?

Odd as my UI 7 Fold 6 update included the April update I thought only the S25 had it separately

As far as I can tell (so far) I'm experiencing the same issues, apps suddenly disappearing from the Home Screen to then appear again when I swipe back. Battery life is worse on One UI 7 compared to 6 and I get random app crashes as well.

I do have good lock installed, I have tried uninstalling and them reinstalling it. I have also tried clearing the cache, as mentioned by another forum member.

I got the update separately on my S24 Ultra, I checked after seeing a few people mention an about the April update. It was there and I downloaded it.

That doesn't sound normal?

My 24u has both updates and they were separated.

I am sure there are bugs I haven't seen but the update has so far been pretty stable. Nothing like what you mentioned has happened to me.

I don’t have goodlock installed.

I might do a back up and then reset the phone and see if you still have the same issues?

So sorry that is happening to you. Must be very frustrating. Hope things get worked out soon!!

Maybe it's a good lock issue, but considering it's a Samsung app, they should have it figured out. At this point I'm just glad it's my secondary phone. Apple gets a lot of flack for the same thing, rightly so, but at this point Samsung can't say they are any better ( at least in my opinion).

Sounds more like a corrupted install and you need to back-up data and do a factory reset as these issues are not normal IMO

I don't think anybody is better in the long run they are all doing the best they can. Apple, Samsung, etc.

The difference for me personally is even though Apple has dropped the ball on stability and quality a bit lately they still manage to update all their phones about the same time. Bugs are going to happen no matter what. It is how many and how severe are they. A few minor issues that get resolved in a few weeks no problem but major issues that never get fixed that is the problem that made me leave Apple. But I like their timeliness.

Samsung updates can be slow and unpredictable but in my personal experience over the years as long as I install fresh, i.e. no back software, then the updates are generally very smooth and stable. Maybe a glitch or two hear or there but overall much better that my last experience with Apple. Generally you wait longer but have less issues. I am sorry that Dave did not have a smooth and stable experience.

I may go back to an iPhone in a few years but for now my S24U with OneUI 7 has been very good. Not so sure how much I like the new pill battery icon but it certainly gets your attention. I want jelly beans subliminally though now......Lol

So my Mrs just had the one ui 7 update on her S24 Ultra and straight away I heard her say

"why the hell did they change that? Why do they always have to change things?" I have now set the old style back for her and she's delighted.

She was referring to the new notification panel.

I believe the vast majority of smartphone users don't give a hoot about software updates and only do them because their phone prompts them to.

My Mrs complains when I buy her a new phone let alone UI changes

I've seen some minor bug on OneUI 7, specifically the notification pill showing cut in the lockscreen. I think that happened once. No more bugs that I have seen, and I have installed and use Good Lock.

Battery life seems the same to me. Overall very happy, but nothing groundbreaking as I previously thought.

The Now Bar, for example, definitely needs more attention and app support. At least in OneUI 8 it seems we will get Now Brief, hopefully with more features included and not just the current version.

I still think it was unjustified this long wait for the update, and even after all that time they still managed to screw it up and had to pull the update for a few days...

I also think sometimes of going back to Apple just to have timely updates. I also miss FaceID. Why the hell can't they bring that to Android after so many years...

On the other hand, OneUI 7 just brings you SO MANY features and personalization you would never get on iOS. It's so freeing being able to do just what you want with your phone, and having it set up just like you like, making simple things like screenshots easier and faster with so many ways to trigger them.

If you had an IPhone 15P or PM you would of had to wait 7 months and 5 updates just to catch up with the !6P/PM and that is still lagging on promised updates, so much so class actions are being taken against Apple, Samsung have delivered far more than Apple

It's taken Apple 10 years or more to bring some of the simplest of things to IOS and now you want a great big notch on your Galaxy for FaceID, no thanks :)

Plus I get this far too often on my 16P

So I've seen you post this before, and I'm curious what you're talking about. LOL. When iOS updates are released, they go to all devices at the same time. At no point has the iPhone 15 Pro Max not gotten an iOS update when the 16 Pro Max did.
