I bought my IPhone 15 Pro Max outright and kept my S23U just so I can trade it in once the S24U drops. Sammy gives awesome discounts. Gonna get the new Sammy for around $700 after getting the top of the line S24. Whether I use it will highly depend on whether Apple can keep my IPhone from turning into a toaster every time I’m on a regular phone call.

Umm.. no. I can appreciate the hardware from the iPhones, Pixels or S series (Galaxy's), but my days of owning a slab phone is over. I favor the Fold for two reasons... the bigger (inner) screen and multitasking.

I can't really say whether or not Samsung will eliminate the crease... but I do feel hopeful they adopted a new hinge that has no gap since the idea came from Oppo, and they did a better job handling the crease for the Oppo Find N2.

I wish they showed us how their crease look like

While great, I still believe that the folding phones will very soon top out on functionality, features, and reliability: the screens being THE final point of perfection to be reached.

I wished this OnePlus was shorter in height by .7" : the benefits of the Fold/Communicator style phones IS the internal screen for landscape viewing. Without pen support internally (as this early peep failed to mention nor show), I think it'll soon just be like the phantom series or at best equally to the Fold 5.

The key is SoFTWARE! All that shiny hardware means nothing if it's held back by software and what is possible, regardless of bugs. Bugs kill user experience to a degree, but poor software either keeps consumers away from tech produ to or returning them very soon for a full refund.

I'm hoping the Oppo brand is a Find N3 that is very close to the dimensions of the Find N2

I cannot wait until sliders debut. I'm unsure the design artist but I think k Samsung is holding it major R&D costs for something like this.:

The Z Slide! It's the perfect evolution of the Note/Ultra/ZFold devices all combined.

GSMArena reports:

Samsung to unveil Galaxy S24 series in January 2024 to take place in San Francisco with new reports doubling down.

Snapdragon-powered Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra appears on Geekbench!

The results of the benchmark revealed 2,234 to be the score for a single core and 6,807 for multiple units. The increase from the Galaxy S23 Ultra with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is massive - 15% and 35%, respectively.

The major takeaway from this Geekbench listing is not the raw result - it is the confirmation that Samsung is once again planning to diversify the chipsets. The Exynos 2400 platform will power some of the Galaxy S24 flagships, but it could be limited to the S24 and S24+ with the Ultra going fully with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

I don’t know. The enthusiast tech in me... would love to try that out. But I don’t think it’s practical nor efficient when using it compared to folding.

Sliding mechanism are appropriate when it comes to saving valuable space… for instance pulling out a large screen panel from a drawer or blinds, maybe even for keyboard trays. I recall seeing the slide out pop-up of the camera from Oppo… which didn’t lead to anywhere.

Give me sleek Galaxy Fold in a Pixel Fold aspect ratio… with silo for an S-Pen, camera technology on par with the S-23U… Google photographic computational and video prowess coming from Apple. Oh yeah, Oppo Find N2 hinge to allow for better crease elimination… then perfection has been reached.

So they are sticking with the same design (except for a flat display on the Ultra) putting Exynos inside the S24 and S24 Plus but the Snapdragon gen 3 inside the Ultra. Are we saying that the S24 lineup will be a small update similar to the 23 lineup?

Samsung haven't changed the design in a few years, not that I mind that much because I think it looks great. I just think they need to give consumers a reason to buy the S24 line up, especially the S24 Ultra.

Well, it’s no different from what other companies are doing. Small incremental updates.

Well, with the Ultra.. getting a flat display, improved 200MP and upgraded telephoto ultrawide (10 to 50MP). Supposedly the brightness will be on par with the latest Pixels. Along with an overall better performance users get from an upgraded chip.

And we are in the dark in terms of what software features that are limited to the S24U until its officially released.

It's time to look for my next phone and the S24 ultra to me seems like a good contender. My co-worker has one of the ultras and could definitely see the S-Pen being useful in my daily tasks.

I'm also looking forward to the flat screen too (if that rumor is true). That's my only real complaint with my S10 is that I feel the curved screen makes it more prone to damage compared to a flat one.

Yea most seem to do small incremental updates yearly.

It’s not a criticism since i like the design of the S23 Ultra, that boxy design works because people know it’s a Note with a different name. The one thing i would ask for and hope that Samsung do when it comes to the 200mp camera, reduce the amount of time it takes between taking a picture and processing it.

It would also be great if Samsung can improve the image quality when zooming in, even improve the 100x quality even tho most people probably don’t take a picture that far out.

Even if Samsung stick with the current battery life that’s on the S23 Ultra, that would be a good thing. If they improve it then awesome.

Pontificate this ...remember that Tom Cruise movie Minority Report?

There was a scene on the subway where a single, foldable, digital newspaper was being read. Newspaper size foldable and readable on all 4 sides.

There was another acene I forgot when where a handheld device was expanded ONLY when needed. Many other sci-fi movies featured similar devices that are pocketful.

Reason why this works over foldables:
Smaller dimensions on the X/Y access.
Larger batteries can be used.
Absolutely no creases at all, nor support needed to create the illusion of no creases, cause the screen is not being folded, yet bent within much better tolerances.
Less moving parts - think under 20 not under 53 as an achievement.
No out of thr box finite limation on screen size,e when open.
You could have a 7.3" or 12.4" unrolled screen in a phone thr size of an Samsung Galaxy S23 - and it can be variable! You the end user chooses the application of screen size when needed: wider for desktop like environments, more narrow for mobile use cases.
That is the beauty- desktop mode without the need for an external screen or add them when you need them in addition NOT as a priority for every desktop mode use.

Humans vision is acute to wide-screen not portrait. Samsung is THE only company pushing rollable screens.

Trust when foldable screens semi glass becomes as reliable as slabs - take a handful of sand ans grit and pour onto thr screen and rub VERY vigorously with complete confidence ans still no damage and can rinse off without a second whim , then rollables will begin to debut. What you saw are very early concept prototypes.

I've just thought, I wonder if Samsung will announce the rumoured Galaxy Ring along side the S24 range. I'm not sure why Samsung would release a ring when they have a smartwatch that already tracks health and fitness but it will be interesting to see if they do.

As I stated initially... I’ll love to try that out. I’m just skeptical of the rollable concept… we are starting to see folding laptops. So, how will rollables come into the equation for them?

I’m certain they are working diligently on rollables, but I don’t think they will be as reliable than folding devices.

Well, we know Samsung. They seen an interesting category and decided they want in. Look at Google… they own Fitbit and yet… they decided to make a smartwatch.

In the end, having choices is a good thing for consumers… especially at different price points.

I saw another smart ring brand at BestBuy. Some of the advantages for a ring over a smartwatch would be wearing it at night or in the shower or instances when we normally take our smartwatch off. Personally I don't wear my AWU to bed so any type of sleep tracking is lost for me. But a ring I would wear 24/7 and it would be able to gather more helpful all inclusive information around my health.

I've decided to give Samsung a rest for abit been with them for year's on & off and it was all getting abit stale tbh, so I sold my S23 Ultra while still getting a decent price for it, & bought a Pixel 8 Pro.

Now if this Pixel doesn’t live up to expectations in the next few months I'll return with the S24 Ultra, I've also decided rather than sell my Galaxy Watch 6, I'll keep it in storage & use the free Pixel watch 2 with the Pixel 8 Pro just in case i return.

Up to now though it's been positive with the Pixel 8 Pro, really loving the camera more on the Pixel than i did on the S23 Ultra, you really had to faff with expert RAW etc to get the best out of it, the Pixel on the other hand point & shoot instant great image.

They call me Sam-Son-Of-A-G (Sam Sun G) ;)
Clan: SamsungKnights

Object eraser is a great tool, one of the many things the fruit clan doesn't have lol. I just wish I had an S pen and came VERY close to getting those cheap knock-offs on Amazon then reviews state no Blueooth connection so functionless other than direct on screen - not sure if that works accurately.
