I'd love a pocketable modern computer like an iPhone X the size of an SE or thereabouts. I've been tempted enough to browse too, but never tempted enough to teeter on the brink of purchasing one. Awaiting March.

If you go through all the current rumours, March will most likely bring you a “recycled” ans slightly less expensive iPhone 8. This could be Apple’s smallest iPhone from then on, followed by a slightly bigger 5.4” iPhone 12 in September 2020. It makes no sense to Apple to significantly evolve the current 8 at that expected price of 399$.

I have an 8+ and still sometimes miss my SE. Sure I have better internals but I have an iPad for anything media consumption. If you do a lot with photos and videos an upgrade may be useful. The SE is still speedy though even with iOS 13. It probably won’t get 14 though.

OP, what version of iOS do you have in the SE? The dream would be iOS 9 for that phone as I bet it would still be insanely fast (although I’ve heard great things about iOS 12 on the SE).

That's the best I can tell as well, at this point – it's that much that's enticed me to wait. I don't use my phone-sized device for much beyond the basics, so the worst case is that everything's already fine, and the best is some kind of surprise that defies the rumours.

It's not time to upgrade, unless you really need the extra screen and power for graphic intensive apps.

The SE can do everything the latest iPhones can do, minus some idiotic emoji's and Face ID. While the new iPhones are a marginal upgrade over the SE, they are also a downgrade in many ways.

Don't feel pressured to buy a new iPhone just because everyone around you has one. Everyone and their grandmother is also driving a new car today, even though most of them live paycheck to paycheck, have no savings, and are swimming in debt. Save your money.

If you use your SE primarily for calls, text messages, email, and occasional browsing, then truth be told you will be disappointed in the "upgrade" because it won't feel like one. The reason why most people feel that it's an upgrade is because their priorities include:

1. Taking thousands of selfies and high res photos/videos of dinners, places they visited, and other material possessions so they can compete for likes on social media.
2. Playing graphic-intensive games on their iPhones, since they don't have a life, which is sadly most people nowadays.
3. Showing others they could afford the latest and greatest.

Oh, and let's not forget about the slobs who need a new iPhone because their old one is ruined due to carelessness. That's about it.

This about summarises the upgrades over SE, except for just one important aspect - screen size. For me, I use a phone for staying abreast on social media, making calls, engaging in chats, light gaming, and almost zero photography. So, the 5s that I had worked for me. I upgraded to a 7 and then 8 (giving the 7 in my family) to get VoLTE support with 4G.

As things stand with the 8, as of now, I do not need a new phone at all. Sure, the new phones are going to be better, but not enough to necessitate a purchase for my use case. If I had an SE instead of a 5s, I would probably not have upgraded it just yet. That A9 with 2GB RAM on that screen size is still good. The A11 on my 8 with a little more screen estate is really good for me for the moment. These devices do not come cheap, and present no value in upgrades for me right now (from the 8). The 5G modem will be one, and I will upgrade when my country rolls out 5G.

I'm on 13.3. It runs fine for me. Battery drains normally.

I am waiting toget a smaller iPhone for exercise and the Summertime outdoors too. But I wish Apple would at lease give face ID instead of the touch I.D. and camera of the iPhone 11 Pro.

SE user. Waiting to see what 2020 offers. I know I have to upgrade next year, the SE is running on fumes by now. 5.4 rumors are enticing.

I've been on my SE for the past couple of hours (my usual phone being the XS) and am typing this on it right now. I love the lightness and ease of holding. I do not miss the bulk of my XS.

I‘m with you - I have two in the house now, as I just recently bought a sealed brand new 128GB SE.
IMO, it’s incredible value for what it offers and the pricing it can be had for now.

I love the SE as well, I love both the form and the size factor, and really dislike the monster phones deemed desirable these days.

Now, I will admit that the new Razr strikes me as rather attractive - I have long had a soft spot for clam shell phones.

If that RAZR was more like $600-700, I’d be **seriously** contemplating switching to one — or at the very minimum giving it a really good try for a bit.

As things stand, I am considering it, for when I need to change my SE (which won't be for a while, yet).

Anyway, I love the form factor and size of the SE, the fact that it fits easily into my (small) hands, and coat or jacket or other pockets, travels unobtrusively in my briefcase, and holds a decent charge.

It is not that my loyalty to Apple will over-ride my preference for agreeable and comfortable form factors; if there are better products - that meet my needs - produced elsewhere (as has already happened with dedicated music mp3 players), I will cheerfully purchase such a thing.

I am waiting to see if the 5.4" becomes reality. If not, I am not sure what I will upgrade to at this point.

I have been experiencing an iOS bug between the SE and Apple Watch 5, that affects normal usage of the watch at times. Several others here have reported the same thing. I don't think Apple is going to get it fixed so, I need to look ahead to using something that isn't going to cause a problem when using the watch at times.
What is the bug you are experiencing with SE and AW 5? I haven't seen any issues or read of any.

I don't have an SE, but I should still say that if you're happy with the phone's form factor, performance, cameras, etc., why upgrade? Just keep it as long as you want and get the battery replaced if it degrades too much.

The SE was STILL BEING SOLD until 2018! Think about the people who bought a new SE in 2018; their phone is less than two years old!

Hang onto your SE while it makes you happy, and don't worry about the future. When Apple releases a new phone that you feel the need to have, buy it then. There's an SE2 coming out this year, supposedly; maybe that phone will interest you. If not, just keep enjoying your phone.

I even say this as someone who upgraded from a 7 Plus to an 11 Pro Max; the 11 finally made me feel "I want that!" so I upgraded. I was still mostly happy with my 7 Plus until then.

It doesn't happy every time for me but, it happens a lot. There are also people on Twitter and Reddit who have been experiencing the same thing.

I have a XS Max + cellular series 4 & this happens to me too. Siri won’t work. When I don’t have my phone, my watch doesn’t receive any notifications even though it’s connected to cellular.

I get notifications fine. Trying to use Siri to ask a question or make a phone call etc. is where I have trouble a lot of the time. My series 3 has the same problem. If I have my phone and it is unlocked, that can stop the problems some times.

Yes, now that I think about it. Making a phone call on the Watch when the phone is nearby, is hit or miss. Keeps saying failed. Works fine when away from the phone and using LTE.

What is everyone's thoughts on their SE and why haven't YOU upgraded?

I haven’t upgraded cause I prefer to buy good value products, and Apple’s most recent good value iPhone model is...the iPhone SE.

One can argue that the 11 is a decent value proposition. Now, at 699$ I might kinda reluctantly agree. But here’s the thing - Apple screwed us over here in Europe by pricing it at 900$.

Also, I played with it in the store, as well as with the XR before it - these models are too damn big. I don’t want to have to use both hands for basic manipulations such as swipe from left side of the screen to go back or getting into the control center.

Maybe the SE 2 (9, whatever) will be just the right upgrade for me, we’ll see.

That's interesting, I'm using AW4 with my SE and I did have some issues early on with iOS 13 and 6.

I reset my watch and re-paired. Since then it has worked better but I do notice that siri and calls aren't 100% but seems to work better.
