Got my Space Gray 64gb iPhone 8 as a holdover until the X releases. Very similar to my iPhone 7 black and I love that I can use the same Apple saddle leather case.

Apple's new phone transfer / setup experience has improved dramatically with iOS 11!

Originally ordered at 3am Pacific on Verizon's business site

Just a heads up about upgrade fees...

Got charged $30 for the 8 Plus and another $30 for my 12.9 Pro... had to call Verizon yesterday to activate the phone and the rep was like "I want to thank you for your loyalty having been with Verizon since 1998."

I was like "You can thank me by giving me a credit for the upgrade fee for both devices."

... and she did.

:)

Dang! I’ve been with them since ‘99, I should try that!

Went to a local Apple store in Frisco, TX and picked up the 8+ 256GB in silver, VZW variant. Had no reservation and they had them in stock. Took about 30 minutes total. They sold about 20 as I was standing there. When I walked in (just minutes after the mall opened) there was no line but as I left they had about 8 people in the line.

Hi all,

Looking for some help here in regards to updating to the X in Nov.

So I've been with Verizon a long time and haven't upgraded under the new rules with payments per month (rental/upgrade yearly or once you pay off half)

The last time I upgraded to the 6 I just paid a reduced flat fee and I own the phone.

I am available for upgrade and not locked into a contract anymore, I pay month to month.

What is the best way to upgrade?

1. Pre-order with apple and still pay Verizon insurance in case I lose the phone/theft. (apple care doesn't cover correct)

2. Pre-order with verizon and still pay verizon insurance (I think you have to pay for a longer term here though? 50% opposed to 12 months or something) Can someone explain this to me.

3. Pre-order with Best Buy and pay for Best Buy protection (and still be on apple's payment plan I believe)

Looking for clarity on apple payment plan vs. verizon payment plan and the different insurance options.

Looking to pay the least but also be able to upgrade as needed and not be stuck on a delayed cycle due to low payments or something.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!!

I will most likely set my alarm to wake up 15-30 minutes before pre-orders go live and order online using either the Apple store app, Apple website, or Verizon website, whichever lets the order go thru first.

I learned a couple years ago not to bother lining up in front of a store. My local stores usually don't have too big of a line so I used to be able to line up an hour or two before they opened, but starting with the iPhone 6 it seems like they have started getting very limited quantities of the devices so I don't bother anymore. I lined up early and was the 5th person in line when the 6/6+ was released and my store didn't get a single black 6+ in stock so I walked away empty handed. Luckily I had already ordered online and got mine in the mail a few days later, but I was hoping to get one on release day and cancel the online order.

I buy outright, no more contracts or payment plans for me. They have jacked up their prices way too much on the new plans for me to mess with them. I'm only paying $15 per line for 7 phones and $10 for an iPad on my old More Everything plan, switching to the new plans makes that go up to $20 per line, which increases my bill by $45 alone. Moving from 10GB to unlimited makes my bill go up by about $100.

Unequivocally Agreed!

Is anyone experiencing bad battery life with their 8 Plus? The battery just seems to drain faster than my 7 Plus.

Filled my battery at 7 PM last night and it’s now almost 9 AM and I’m still at 100%. Your phone is probably indexing everything, and until it gets settled you may have some more battery drainage. You also may have some apps using your battery in the background that you may not need. Check the apps and remove the ones that you don’t absolutely need You have.

Thats what i thought too.. Im disappointed
Another thing to think about is if your previous iPhone had bad battery life and you set your new phone with that backup from your old phone, it will likely repeat the problems you had with your old phone. Just something to think about. Like someone else said, your phone could also be indexing still, or there could be an app that is draining your battery.

Got my 8 Plus on Friday (upgrade from a 6 that had messed-up GPS and WiFi that usually didn't work). Came with a Sim installed, activation was smooth, restored the iTunes backup, and was up and running without any issues.
I guess I used up all my luck because it took forever to get AppleCare Plus ordered today. What a cluster**** on Apple's part. Finally kept going through the process and it finally worked. Geeze.
I like the bigger size, and it does take really nice pictures.

Is anyone else experiencing slow lte speeds with Verizon on iPhone 8+? Works super fast when on WiFi, but I’ve been noticing it’s slower than my 6s Plus was on Verizon lte.

Mine is much better on the 8 Plus than it was on the 7 Plus. I have literally no issues with my phone. I love it. Too bad it's just a hold over until the X Lol.

Same here but it might be hard to get used to not having a 'home' button. I really have to examine the features/changes of the X but know eventually that's what most phones will go to.

I’m going to miss the home button / Touch ID, but I think it will be an easy adjustment.
