ok, false alarm sorta...the FedEx guy swapped my box with a neighbor’s and he realized it when he got to their house. The yellow label on the first package I got (the photo is MY package, just showing how it looked) was haphazardly placed so that it was covering the recipient’s name. I heard a honk in the driveway and saw him out there again. Whew! Whoever the neighbor is would’ve gotten the good end of that deal!!!
[doublepost=1506115639][/doublepost]Right, that’s what my husband said! “The 8 is out and someone bought a 6S?” lol. He walked in from work while I was standing there in disbelief trying to call Verizon!
WHEW!!! Glad it all worked out! What a F***ing nightmare that would have been.

Well, I am not scared, but have to wait till my lunch time to do it.
As a follow up to my suggestion on the Tech Armor screen protectors, I ordered a 3 pack in anticipation of my 8 plus arriving and they sent protectors for the 6 plus. I didn’t think anything of it as I thought they were all the same but they aren’t. The earpiece on the 7 plus and 8 plus are larger so (probably most) protectors for the 6 plus won’t work. Had to file a refund request with Amazon since they weren’t allowing returns for some reason. Here’s a link to the item I bought. You may get lucky and get the right protector or you may not…

Has anyone else had problems activating OTA? I’ve tried multiple times. Shut my old phone down, got on VZW and requested activation, even tried using my MacBook but i can’t get it to activate. Frustrating.

Same here. Cant get past the zip code/social security number page. On MyVerizon it shows activated. Seems like its not getting through to the phone.

I am usually good at figuring things out but I have no idea what OTA is??
[doublepost=1506133450][/doublepost]On a side not usually it is a pain to connect a new cell phone with my car but, this was by far the easiest ever, I have a 2016 Avalon that immediately read my phone, I just clicked on the blue tooth on my phone and 10 seconds later it was connected, loaded updated contacts and even emails and messages. The only bad part is the Avalon has a place to charge the phone and because the plus is slightly bigger than most phones it will not lay flush so cannot get that to work for charging.

OTA is "over the air"

I applied the midnight blue leather case to my black iPhone 8 and it looks great. Tried placing a tech armor screen protector and it broke, which was odd since I used that brand for my 6s and it worked well.

Mine at first would not do the new quick start thing, so I tried manual. It made me call the number (from my old phone) for automated activation. After I was prompted to turn off find my iPhone on my 7 and did so, the activation music played and then it hung up saying "call failed." I tried moving forward with activation and got the message that I had to connect it to iTunes. That's a big fat no because I never use iTunes so I just figured I'd try rebooting the phone. Did that and then quick start worked and everything went fast after that. But it was definitely different/more security stuff during activation than in past years.

I finally got my phone activated. I had forgotten to turn off "Find My iPhone" on my old phone.... duhhhhh.
Works great now!
Still no luck here. I’ve shut off find my iphone. I’ve gone through the verizon website and done the activation. Still won’t activate. No i’m erasing my old phone to see if that will somehow help. Probably out of luck though.

If you went through the website it would’ve confirmed everything. Old phone needs to be turned completely off as well as Find My iPhone taken down off it before anything happens on new phone. Then you go through the activation process. If you’ve a spare line, just call Verizon.

I had a little issue activating, well two little issues. First would get to a certain point in the process and then it’d say activation failed so call some 800 number. *611 to reach a CSR and he helped a little on his end while I went through things again. But, it didn’t work so I went online and activated that way. Should’ve done that in the first place. Oh well.

Then, and this is super odd. kept getting a pop up box wanting me to sign into the App Store...except IT WAS THE WRONG APPLE ID. It was a friends Apple ID that I’d sold my laptop to last year. Neither one of us had ever used the others ID much less why the heck is his Apple ID??? Eventually the box went away but makes me super leery and left wondering whaG that was about.

I had quite a few of these ids to go through! Freaked me out! But have had no odd purchases or anything else strange. I dud have the activation issue though. But I turned off find your iPhone on my old phone and hooked it up to iTunes and was fine.
