After 5 straight launches of coming to my mall I have never seen it this bad. 7 people for Apple and not 1 person at ATT and it is 7:40amPDT

P.S. Great for me since I canceled my pre order to get the ATT BOGO deal...

Yeah I did the line thing a couple times and had fun socializing, but that was enough and I've ordered online the last few years.

In general I barely go to malls any more, and when I do (outside of holiday shopping season) they are noticeably less crowded than they used to be.

There is no doubt that price is playing a factor in rather people upgrade as quickly as they use to. We've pretty much already established that most iPhone users now aren't upgrading every year. I know people that have iPhone 6s Plus phones that still aren't ready to upgrade. Some of them don't want to deal with Face ID, they prefer Touch ID. There are so many factors to consider now days. Phones are really different compared to the old days when it maybe a different design or different size screen, but the price wasn't so much a factor. I am upgrading from a 6 Plus 4 years and I finally upgrade. It will likely be another 3 or 4 years for me.

I waited in line once at the apple store in the mall for the iPhone X in 2017. I’d say there were 50 people in line at 5 am, and nearly over 200 by 10 am. I got there around 5 am.

The store opened early at 8 am just for this iPhone X launch. But to wait in line and wait to get the iPhone X took forever, I didn’t walk away with it until 1030 am. The whole process was slow and I was #50 on the line

Who shops at physical stores these days...

When you're dealing with carrier upgrades and adding lines, sometimes its a lot more straightforward to do it in store, especially when dealing with AT&T, their phone reps seem to know nothing.

Ya man, buy one get one. But you have to add a line. Which my daughter is of age now so it was time! Free 8 plus for her!

Not justifying anything. Just offering up a possible reason. The price could be a factor as well.

But as i stated, the last 5 years has had online and its never been this dead. 7 PEOPLE! I was the only one in ATT store for the first half hour. It’s not cause online is better it’s cause the price went up and the phone didn’t get that much better! Oh and they are making a cheaper version that has better battery..lol
[doublepost=1537545690][/doublepost]Well let’s tlak about the real

I actually Pre order for in store pickup. For some reason I just want it at 8am and not wait for truck..

Isn't that rural CA though?

Oh someone finally asked it. Yup about an hour north of San Fran. Only Apple store up north tho.

You are probably right and we'll certainly see in October how it plays out. No doubt that XR looks good to a lot of people that don't want to spend $1000 for a phone.

It’s freaking got a better battery than XS and will last a lot longer. Going to account for 60% of sales I bet.

It's the line of shame

It'd feel weird standing in such a short line. Apple should do some kind of free memorabilia promo to liven these locations. It's like the dance floor effect where people won't join unless there's a decent crowd.

The store at the Grove in LA had quite a few people in line. Not as many as last year though. I went to the Verizon store at 7 and was second in line. When they opened at 8 there were only 3 of us. Bet it will be a lot busier next month for the XR.

S cycles are always slower but this years even slower due to price increase.

Due to XR and price increase...

I just hope sales of the XS and Max plummet so they will rethink. Unless they make the notchless Phone next year with solid state lithium batteries..
