Had mine replaced and it is now blueish on the left side and even the tech said it looks worse than the old one:( Waiting for Apple to call

good god, this is shaping up to be awful - worse than the odds of a good replacement, even. Ugh, what a shame. SHAME ON YOU, APPLE.

Just got my iMac back from replacing a new LCD panel.

Would like to post some pictures for you guys, but don't know how.

Will any of you tell me?

Thanks

you'll have to upload it to another website and use the IMG tag. I use Picasa, but you can use anything you like. :)

You had your iMac replaced 3 times by Apple. And then, Apple finally decided to replace it?

Did you mean you had replaced you iMac with the new LCD panel 3 times before Apple replaced it with the brand new iMac?

I'm confused

Apple replaced my LCD three times, and then i called today because it now had a giant black bar on the bottom, he said that I can either have the LCD replacd again, or they will swap me out with a new machine. The image above is the new machine.... Oye.

What do you mean by a giant black bar? Could you explain?

My 27inch i7 just came in yesterday (Feb 17th 2010) and bottom 20% has light yellowing. Very minor, but seriously unacceptable. How can people even consider for a second keeping one of these displays with even the tiniest bit of yellowing?

I'm going to enjoy the computer for a couple of weeks and give them one shot at getting me a perfect screen and if they fail I'm going to go on the refund/wait-4-refresh program.

It was somewhat visible. after the last screen replace, there was a very dark bar that was visible right above the dock. I didn't see it until the tech there asked if it was part of my wallpaper. I noticed the yellow at first then the the random bar.

Your pic in the bottom right is showing the blue/purple hue in the left side of the screen which even their tech saw after replacement. No one else see this??

I do but it could be the quality of the picture. Why don't he try the shift, command and 4 key and take a picture. It would be a lot clearer.

Must... resist... urge... to.... insult... badly...

*sigh* stupid forum rules. screen shots won't do the trick - it's a DISPLAY issue. The computer THINKS its displaying a perfect image, and that's what you'd get with a screenshot. You HAVE to use a camera.

I noticed that too. Also, the bottom right side of the screen. So, I better ask them for another replacement. right? :(

I just noticed my iMac replaced with new panel screen got this too.

My 27" was still yellow so I returned it. I will be waiting this out to see how the repairs progress before I repurchase one.

On unit #2, repair #2

I received my first 27" iMac i7 quad core in mid January 2010, after nearly a 3 week wait from placing the order.

On initial inspection the unit seemed fine, but once the lights were lowered in the room, the yellow tinging was evident in the bottom right corner of the screen.

Apple was quick to order my replacement, which after nearly a month, arrived with an even worse tinge. This time evident in the entire right side of the screen.

We resolved to have the second unit repaired at a local Apple Store, while I held on to the original to continue my work.

After waiting another 2 weeks for the replacement screen to arrive, the Apple Store was able to make the repair in 2 days.

Sadly, this display is the worst one I've seen yet. Sadder still is the fact that it is supposedly a second gen screen for the 27" iMac. Apparently Apple has not quite figured out what they're doing wrong.

I just ordered my second replacement screen, and fully expect to wait some weeks more for a resolution. Unfortunately, my confidence in the quality of this product is very shaken.

Apple has been very helpful, but I wonder how many thousands of dollars they are losing trying to get this right.

I think Apple is recycling these screens and Imacs

I have had many Imac returns and many others have complained as well yet none of these machines are showing up on the refurb store.

I think they are sending out these machines as new.

What other possible explanation?

Also by forcing people to go the repair route the genius can simply say it is fixed and at that point there is no where else to go.

I was told by executive relations that I had the best screen apple knew how to make. (They all had yellowing) and I was finally told to either live with it or refund it (No lie).
