Apple will never fix this. If they haven't fixed it by now, they will never fix it.

You either learn to live with a defective yellow screen or buy something else.

Apple quality has gone way down but their prices are still quite high. Many would be better off buying a PC and purchasing a screen that actually works the way its supposed to.

I've done very nicely out of all these problems. My noisy i5 was exchanged for the i7 with 2T hard drive. They gave me free upgrade to 2-day shipping, plus $200 off (the cost of the HD upgrade). When I exchanged the very slightly yellow i7 for a perfect one, they gave me another $100 off for the inconvenience, plus free Applecare ($150?). And when I recently called to say I was worried that my screen might need changing in future because of reports of the yellow screen appearing after a period of time, they told me I could receive a screen exchange at any time during my Applecare coverage, and in the meantime sent me a $300 iPod Touch (32GB) for free (which I subsequently sold for $250).
With the $100+ professional user discount I got originally, and taking the value of all the subsequent discounts and freebies of $900+ in total, my perfect i7 has cost me little over half price.
Life is sweet.

Blimey you must be very lucky. I am about to return my third iMac (i7 2TB HDD) and have not received a thing from Apple, apart from all the aggravation and a proposed refund.

The first had dead pixels and marks on the underside of the screen, the second made a clicking noise as the CPU fan was hitting something as it spun and the third's screen made a loud humming noise even on a solid surface and the hard drive noise was unbearable. Apple UK must not be as generous. I am still waiting for them to collect the third one. Cannot wait to get this piece junk out of my house.

What is worse was this this was a christmas present.

Hi,

My 2nd Imac (but first LCD replacement) is jsut back out of the box and when cold it looked at first as if it was ok, but after 15 minutes its still yellow - though admittedly not quite as bad as the one that was replaced.

I'm going to give it a couple of days to see if it gets worse, if it stays as it is i will most probably live with it.

You guys that are getting on site repairs done, are you in the US as I don't seem to get offered that solution.

Regards,

Sara

Dropped my 27" off yesterday, screen was replaced this morning, unfortunately the yellowing is much worse now, covering a larger part of the bottom of the screen.

Excellent service by the repair agent though, just a shame the new screen hasn't done it.

How are the screens on the replacement machines?

According to this poll they are still yellow.

absolutely
hope I get one like yours

That screen totally has the yellow problem. Believe me the issue is much more apparent in person, especially at angles on the partof the screen. This issue is just aweful for customers with attention to detail, and Apple can/will never fix it.

Apple is coming to replace my screen next week. They told me flat out that Apple Care only allows for 1 screen replacement, and there is a "small" chance that the issue will persist, but they will not replace the screen again. I'm fine if this fixes it or atleast makes it better, but I will not be fine if it goes the opposite direction and is a worse screen.

Apple has given consumers an ultimatum.

You either accept it as is with ONE screen replacement or return for a full refund.

They are not going to fix this. You either keep the yellow screen of death or get a refund. There are many sheep out there wiling to settle for a yellow screen that Apple doesnt need to compromise.

The new era of Apple products.

The Apple bashing is getting ridiculous in here.

Just stop, it's getting old..

It's not that Apple doesn't want to fix it, it's that they don't know how.

I've spoken to several reps and went through 5 iMacs before just giving up and getting a refund. If you're not happy, return it. If you can tolerate the difference (which is NOT that bad at all in most cases), keep it and be done with it.
