Agreed..... I have not said anything different. They are doing just fine with the marketshare they do have......

I guess time will tell..... Lets see whats happens in the next couple of years....

You original statement was "So if the IOS is so much better why does it get trounced globally?"

Very very different from what I was saying.

This has actually been predicted for years. It's getting nutty where can get an S5 just for eating at burger king and using their app.

It's mirroring the PC industry in a big way, and at the end of the day Apple is motoring along with a tiny OSX market share in comparison, and is content to remain so.

They may not have enterprise contracts like HP and Dell, but they get on.

Because the poster I replied to always comes here and puts Android down as a platform. His prerogative...to each his own. But still globally it gets trounced by Android. So that is the context.
Plus I would not assume IOS is better. The people that buy a lower cost phone cannot choose IOS. Apple choose not to participate in that market. Their choice.........but so? If they could would they? Who knows....until it is available.

I'm not saying which platform is better. But saying that if IOS is that good, then it must maintain or increase their GLOBAL market share, which maybe only 20% is their market segments, doesn't seem right. It's like saying if Ferrari car is that good then it should have bigger global market share in car industry than Toyota.

That picture means nothing..........could be one ivory league school with a bunch of rich kids with Macs their parents bought for them. So how did we transition to the PC platform? We were discussing Mobile OSes.....
How about actual numbers......

So just for grins....... If you gave most people an Ferrari and a luxury Toyota........which one do you think would get used more? Which one would get sold right away and which would end up being used more because....well it is more functional and fits more people lifestyle? Its your analogy.....
Granted some would keep the Ferrari.....if they could afford the upkeep and insurance. But most would keep the Toyota after reality set in.

You realize you're validating my point in the way Apple handles their own business model and why this whole market share premise when applied to Apple vs whomever doesn't hold up very well.

What the hell are you talking about?

Your initial statement was if IOS was good then why their global market share is declining. And than you pointed out an article that you probably didn't read which clearly say that the reason Android market share increasing is because there is a growth in <$200 smartphones sales and the reason iPhone sales is declining is because, well there is a growth in <$200 smartphones sales which isn't Apple's (or any top smartphone maker, except Samsung) area. Nothing to do with whether IOS is good or bad.

My analogy is that iPhone to those who are planning to buy a <$200 phones is Ferrari to those who are planning to buy a Toyota. Different market segments!

Because he'd like to compare iPhone sales to every android make and model out there instead of each separate android oem.

A long time Apple customer I've had every iPhone made.

Yet I'm a Tech enthusiast that enjoys variety and choices. I've been using Android and iOS since their inception, that's what I prefer. Both of these phones have their pros and cons.

It's simply a matter of personal preference.
