I find it amusing that the same folks who ripped Samsung for creating a foldable phone (gimmick, desperate, solution in search of a problem, etc.) are the same ones talking about how awesome and courageous Apple is now that they've released an AR/VR headset. And they're entering late into a collapsing, disaster of a product space no less. Samsung has sold more foldable phones in one year than all AR/VR headsets combined over the past 7-8 years, btw.

Hmm - I know 20 odd people with a Quest or VR headset. Only seen one Samsung Folding phone in real life outside a shop… and that’s a guy that upper management with Samsung UK… and he mostly hates it and misses his iPhone. And a phone is a commodity item now. They have very lititle new technology and are incremental devices. The Vision is like the Lisa, iPhone 1, iPad 1, Watch 0 or Telsa Roadster. All were perceived as extremely expensive But all lead to mass market items in the 2nd / 3rd iteration… and I have zero doubt that in 6-8 years these will be actual glasses with Waveguide lenses and screens Or even direct into eye projection devices - these exist already.

I develop ( not even my real job ) a simple VR game with only 2 channels - Quest / Rift and Steam… We’ve sold about 22 million copies worldwide ( it’s not even AA and it’s very cheap ) so I’d not say it’s Collapsing or a disaster. It’s not mobile phone levels of sales remotely - but there are only a couple of standalone headsets out there and really only one that people know about. Apple will change that.

Also, as someone with every VR headset going, even pre Rift, and HoloLens and Magic leap. The spec alone on this are a magnitude ahead of what’s out there.

Well, you'll know less people with the AVP. If you've only ever seen one person with a foldable, you should definitely get out more and you must not hang around IT/tech folks that make a decent living. Even an 82 year old at my local VFW has a Z Fold 4. You talk 6-8 years from now, I'm talking about the present. This gen 1 attempt will not sell well, period. The iPhone is the incremental smart phone you speak of. Other companies are actually moving forward with tech innovation. Meanwhile, I'm using a smart phone and mini tablet in one daily, folding it when not in mini tablet form, putting it in my pocket and going about my day. I laugh at people with iPhones now, and I'd owned every iPhone from the 4 to the 12 pro max. But enjoy your $3500 trinket. I hope it serves you well.

By Apple fans only. Who ever would've guessed?
So you are saying just because they are positive they are Apple fans? It’s like you would say they were honest if they hated it. Sure, anything to suit your narrative. Get your head out of the duck rear. Most of them are tech enthusiasts and will not hesitate to claw and bite Apple if they didn’t impress with what they announce.

Haha yeah right. Like Apple is going to invite people who are not Apple fans to view a new device and give short reviews on it. Clearly you don't understand how marketing works. Thanks for the laugh though! 😂
