I distinctly remember iOS 7 beta 1 had really bad battery life too. This was solved in beta 2. I think it best to wait to beta 2.

Can't remember how ios 7 beta was in regards of battery life but like you said hopefully beta 2 will improve, first time I've had to charge my 6 plus 2 times a day.

Screenshot of my iPhone 5 with iOS 9 since yesterday.
It's not my daily driver and data connection is disabled except wifi and runs good I think. No update, I did a restore.

Anyone know if Watch OS 2.0 will work with 8.3? Really need to get rid of 9Beta. Even after all of the suggestions my iP6 is suffering badly.

I'm an active developer but I can live with simulator for now. Never has a beta been this extreme!

I disabled search on the iphone 6, and this time the drain went from 86% to 42% overnight. I disabled BT but left WiFi on (and it may have been feeding the Apple Watch somehow).

On the ipad air 2, went from 69% to 35%. In just 6h.

Still pretty bad. I know it's a beta, and I didn't expect a battery improvement as advertised... But this drain? It's crazy!
Apple should know this already. This horrible power drain is intolerable, even for developer. Now the only thing we could say good is: it does not drain power as fast as you can see the percentage number decrease in less than a minute. Ok. I know this is more than horrible. ;)

I thought apple could do better. Even this is a beta, did they test all devices in power cord free state? I suspect.

The battery drain is listed in the known bugs for iOS 9 Beta 1 in regards to iPhone 6 & 6 plus.
What's worse is the charging, it takes ages.

I'll monitor my 6 plus further then. Only installed the Beta yesterday and four or maybe five hours after installation my phone was around 10% so I plugged it in only to notice it was stuck at 47% after two hours of being plugged into my rMBP.

big difference between yours and mine. mine is saying usage for every minute the phone is on. the phone was locked for most of that time. unusable atm

I had to downgrade back 8.4 (Beta 4). I love iOS 9, but the battery life was hoooooorrrrriible! Expected, though. 8.4 Beta 4 is running great for me, though.

Based upon the latest comments, it appears that this battery drain issue has zip/zero/nada to do with everyone's assumption of indexing.

Well this can't be helping the battery. I've apparently used 17.4gb of mobile data since I installed the beta when it was released. I haven't downloaded anything or streamed anything so god knows why so much data.

Yeah for some reason, my phone has been using crazy amounts of data in the background since updating to iOS 9 but nothing near 17.4gb

My Battery usage is starting to get better and my iPhone also stopped getting hot.
So I think it really was just (re-)indexing everything for Spotlight and Siri and finally finished doing so.

I take it you have unlimited data...I hope...

Thing is, even though this is a beta - how can Apple quote longer battery life as a feature of iOS 9 when at this stage it's killing the battery at an alarming rate? If the beta has this problem surely they can't know they can improve battery life??
