OK then, do something with this uninteresting pic -

Cheers :)

Cheers :)

Farm Junk

Hugh, here's an attempt to bring out the junk a bit and to add to the depressed air of the image. Comments always welcomed.

I'd post an image for y'all to edit, except well…I take photos of women and those women don't want you perverts (re)touching them. ;)

Oddly enough, three of my relatives became infatuated with this while I was testing browser compatibility:

So how about another go?

I've got this cool sunset shot from the Azores, it's got all the goodness your heart desires: right into the sun, lens flare, cows, the works. Despite it's shortcomings, I really like it.

The camera produced JPEG looks like this:

QRS_0488.jpg

Which is a whole lot better than what I managed to get out of this raw file.

If you have the time and desire, please download this NEF file and have your go at it. If you feel particularly generous, include brief (or very detailed) instructions of what you did to it. I suppose I gotta learn how to do it and the day might have come.

By the looks of it, the best results will probably come from selective editing (with masks), and perhaps I'll have another try and post my own results after getting some education on the topic.

Much better colour! Not a fan of the crop though...

Quick edit using luminosity masks in CS6.

You had to go at it with a knife too, didn't you? ;) Interesting rendition, very warm.

After messing around with Aperture (which I'm pretty much ready to put in the trash), I figured maybe I can just open the nef in Photoshop. Lo and behold, the Camera Raw converter window offered me lots of seemingly useful little sliders to play with. The result is below, and no offence to Jake and TheReef, but strictly subjectively, I like this one better :)
