The problem is not what storage do you choose, is that the entry price is to expensive. In last years you could get the best Iphone for 600 or 700, now you have to pay at least 1000 for the "real" deal. I am sure that the cost for Apple is the same overall ($350) . So yes, it's expensive. You could buy it cause it's great, but if you look the numbers is expensive. No matter what is new on the phone.
For example: 7nm processor IS GREAT AND FASTER, BUT CHEAPER TOO.

The problem is for us, like me. We live outside the US and here the prices will be close to 2k.

Some of this is what I was getting at in my post. I was really hoping to see the price back in the iPhone 8 range, not the iPhone X range... BUT at the entry price point, the difference in cost between regular and max and 64 vs 256 feels less significant

The 512GB is a lot of money, but relative to the cost to go from 64 to 256, its pretty cheap.. sort of.

Last round when I went to an X (which I returned) I got the 64GB, and when I returned it I bought the 64GB 8+. I wanted a bit more size in screen and the X just didn't have that.

Coming from a 6s, I was only using 46GB of 64GB in that model. After moving to the 8+, it's now more like 55GB. Everything is bigger on the 8+ including apps. That's probably not whats eating it up so much but its some of the increased storage. And, every DAY apps just get bigger.

So, whichever I get, I'm not letting myself walk out with less than 256GB from here on out.

Learn to basic economics. It's supply and demand, and the demand curve is clearly *not* linear.
