Those of you who cannot stop complaining about new MBA. What do you all want?

People are keep complaining about

1. no i3 processor
2. no 4GB ram standard. It is upgradeable.
3. no SD card slot on 11.6 model.
4. no backlit keyboard.
5. Too expensive

What do you all want apple to do? What specs u all want and how much are you all willing to pay for it?

I would like a 13" Macbook Air with:

- 64gb flash memory (-$200 from base price)
- 4gb RAM (+$100)
- 2.13Ghz Processor (+$100)
- Backlit keyboard (like every previous Macbook Air, and every Macbook Pro)


Only the 4gb RAM option is actually doable right now on the base model 13". To get the faster processor you have to upgrade the flash memory confused

This feels like the 2.0Ghz Aluminum Macbook all over again. In a year they'll come out with one with more options and bring back the backlit keyboard.

Demanding consumers get great products. People who don't care about quality, settle for garbage like Vista.

PS I don't see many complaints, looks like an overwhelmingly positive response.

Specs aside.....

The people that keep complaining are people that are not even intended for Apple's target demographic, which is NOT creative professionals or PC enthusiasts. This, coupled with the new consumer price point, seems to have not yet sunk in with those folks yet.

And not to sound like a fanboy/troll/whatever, but I always find it amusing how people constantly complain about a company who's generated more than 20 billion in profits last fiscal quarter and who constantly keep pointing out what Apple is doing "wrong" with their products.

My gripes on the 13" model Rev D

1. Bring back the matte display (Update: apparently it's still matte even though Apple describes it as "glossy" on their website?)
2. Bring back the backlit keyboard
3. Put the MagSafe, DisplayPort and USB all on the same side so the Cinema Display cables run to just one side of the machine
4. Something beefier than Core2Duo
5. It basically weighs the same as my Rev B
6. No USB 3.0

The jury is out on whether they've reduced the heat with this new thermal design and been able to bring the fan noise down. Color me skeptical on both counts.

Basically the trade off right now (Thanks to Intel's borderline monopolistic policies lately) is that you can either have a Core 2 Duo plus a third party chipset (like the NVidia 320M) or you can have an i-series processor and are stuck with Intel's chipset and graphics.

The only way to have an i-series processor with decent graphics is to add a dedicated GPU like the 330M that the higher end MBPs use, plus an extra chip on the board to handle the GPU switching. This creates a bigger battery drain, heat load, and requires more space on the board.

It's probably an issue of heat dissipation. Otherwise they could offer the faster processor options at a premium and make more profit.

In all seriousness though, the 11' is going to be the home runner. Since the days of the 12" PowerBook G4 people have been wanting to use OS X on a small sized computer with some even resorting to hackintoshing netbooks.

I can already see Apple withdrawing the 13" model in the future simply because users would probably move towards the MacBook Pro 13' that still has a great battery life, has a fast (abiet outdated C2D) cpu, cd drive and up to 8GB RAM for the same pricepoint as the lighter and faster booting MBA.

I'm perfectly happy! There will always be whiners and complainers who fail to realize that there are *gasp!* computers that DONT fit their needs! Ok, then get one that does, thats why there are many models to choose from.

What do we want? What did we expect? How about 4gb ram standard, 128 flash standard and a cpu running 2.4 GHZ. The 1.4, 1.6 are useless. They already had the 2.13 chip that was proven to be overtasked at running any simple business applications.
