for someone who uses the keyboard A LOT..

you should at least comprehend the reason it's called a QWERTY keyboard.. not QUERTY.

the reason is, the keys appear in this order.
Q-W-E-R-T-Y

not too difficult i didn't think...

Yes, I'm not an idiot. I know why it's called QWERTY. I'm a touch typist and I must have slipped the U in there with my right hand. QUERTY doesn't make sense so it's obviously a typo, correct? I didn't proofread it. My apologies oh great technology overlord.

I know my keys. I can remove them an replace them without error, but thanks. Now if you'll excuse me, I have agreed with your points and you have nothing further to add to this conversation but insult—which you had to return to find after I replied to you. I will now correct the original, if that's OK with you.

Oh and please don't underline "a lot" I rarely make that mistake and usually correct it, and I challenge you to find me typing "alot" in any of my posts in the past few years. Have fun.

Actually I did the work for you. In all of my posts, I made the mistake once, way back in 2003.

lol, no need to get defensive. i do understand that it is human nature to get defensive when you feel threatened or embarassed. however, i am not here to insult or argue. i post my thoughts and move on.

none-the-less, you did type "QUERTY" twice within 2-3 sentences leading me to believe you did not know it was "QWERTY" -- normally someone who understands a concept, doesnt make the same typo twice within a few sentences.

and if you're looking for somewhere you type a lot, just refer to page 2 of this thread, lol.

also.. i thought you'd like to see this. copied from some site
"alot" is not a word in English and is clearly incorrect. "a lot" is the
correct word for most purposes. see below for details:

"Alot" means nothing because it is not a word in the English language
and therefore should not to be used.

"A lot" (two words) is an informal phrase meaning a large portion or
large quantity of something.

ok, i'm done :D

We're both done, which is good because I found a post of yours where you wrote "alot" a few months ago. :D

And yeah, you're right, generally people making the same mistake twice in the same paragraph are dumb. I used my right hand on the "U" and I was thinking of it phonetically for some reason so that may be why I typed it that way—or because I'm used to typing QU since most Q words begin that way. Anyway, yes I did type a lot on page two, lol. I like to allot myself some space in which to make some points! HA! But I should be done with that now. And I do admit, that was an embarrassing mistake and I probably would have thought myself an idiot as well.

I think I might have you all beat...my inbox was full as of last night. Ironic.
So that's...75,000 texts? 100,000? I don't remember the capacity. I go through about 13,000-14,000 texts a month.

Lindsay as in lindsay lohan?

No wonder why you text that much then :p

i don't think you are an idiot, dude.

didn't mean to be insulting, i'm just a very sarcastic person. sometimes it comes off the wrong way, but the main point is to be helpful.. somehow i guess.

It wasn't insulting, just embarrassing. I don't mind making mistakes and being called on them, but to make such a retarded one hurts.

A 4.0 GPA with ADHD? Impressive! I kid. I know I can be long winded.

I don't take much stock in GPAs. They show work, not intelligence. I'd be in Mensa if I wanted to pay them any money yet I never had a 4.0. Why? I often didn't do homework because I didn't need to. Granted I did have around a 3.7AGPA (Honors and AP factored in and religion factored out).

It's pretty sad that your parents text you while you're in school. I guess it's definitely true when they say blame the parents.

My point is that I get good grades. Don't insult my intelligence, and certainly don't insult my parent's.

:p No, just a good friend.

First I'd like to apologize to d wade for the lack of brevity in my response. :D

I wasn't insulting your intelligence. My point was that grades aren't everything. My point was also that GPA is not just intelligence. It also takes work. And congratulations, it takes more work than I was willing to put in so you're better off than I was.

However, this has nothing to do with intelligence or work. It has to do with respect. If you're texting in a teacher's class while they're trying to teach or while you're supposed to be working, you're not showing your teacher respect.

There's not a school in the nation that I've heard of that allows the use of cell phones in the classroom. I'm sure your parents know this as well, and they're breaking the rules by texting you. How can they set a good example for you by showing you that it's ok to break the rules? By texting you they are undermining the authority of the teachers and the school to set rules.

I didn't say that your parents were stupid. I didn't say that you were stupid. I responded like I did because people tend to use GPA as an excuse to cover behavioral problems. I've seen kids with 2.0 GPAs be hardworking and respectful of their teacher and I've seen kids with 4.5 GPAs sleeping in class. GPAs, SAT scores, and ACT scores tell you nothing about who a person is or the quality of their character—that's why many colleges require an essay in addition to test scores.

Look, you seem like a smart kid, but texting in class makes me think you don't have self-control. And the "I only read the first three sentences" bit makes me think that it bothers you to read. You replied and you didn't even know what I said. You're a part of the conversation but you're not listening—you didn't respect what I had to say. It's one thing to skip it because it's too long to bother reading. That I understand. But why start, and then reply without finishing?

Okay, so none of the solutions listed work unless you pay or your iPhone is JB. Can somebody help???? I'd really like to know how to do this.

lol
its fun to look back on your past texts from months ago if your bored though

what sucks is once it gets full, you'll have to delete the whole conversation.. kinda makes you feel empty in a way :p

or if you want to look back on your texts, you'll have to keep clicking "load earlier messages" and at some point, and for some reason, when your close to what you want to see. it crashes on you

Lots of judgment in this thread... I txt a lot but that doesn't make me any dumber, however you choose to gauge "intelligence", like you're implying. And the epic posts are pretty pointless because unless someone really cares about this topic of txting, no one's going to spend the time to actually read what you say because it's really not that important. Txting is simply a form of communication why do you have to hate on the fact that some people use more than you? Getting their moneys worth! haha

Yeah, anyway, who would want to waste their time with a text message when they can post to an epic rant to a message board while managing never to answer the original poster?

I wasn't trying to reply because I accidentally replied in the wrong window, but now I might as well reply. I type about 100 WPM, so it's not like I sat there for thirty minutes writing that. It's a lot quicker than if I texted it.

No one said it made you dumber. But it's not like it's making you smarter either. In my experience, a lot of people who text a lot have poor vocabularies and spelling. Your mileage may vary. Some people have spent the time to read what I've written. Also, my intent was to reply to certain individuals, if you want to read it, fine, if you don't, fine. My rants were on a Saturday morning. It's not like I sat in class or at work wasting my time. You think I've wasted my time typing? I think you guys waste time texting. It certainly doesn't take me the same amount of time to type as it takes you guys to text 75K messages.

I don't hate the fact that people use it more than me. I hate it when people go out with others and text the entire time. I hated it when I was in college and I was trying to pay attention the the lecture and the person behind me had their phone next to my ear pressing buttons for an hour and a half. I just don't see the need for people to text so much and to save the conversations for later. How many times do you reread your 75K messages?

I write and I read, because I want to learn. I'm trying to figure out why people like texting so much, especially in situations where they could just call someone. Why sit around all day and text people, like one poster said, when you could probably talk on the phone for an hour or two and be productive for the rest of the day? You don't think it's a waste to text people from when you wake up to when you go to sleep? What conversation could be that important to waste that much time? That's what I'm tying to figure out.

It still negates the original poster's question. I can type & text at a very sufficient rate of speed. I am certainly not a Guinness record breaker regarding either medium, but I can leave most in the dust. As with typing, texting accurately and quickly increases with use.

And since I too am not answering the original poster's question, I will bow out of this conversation.

Or do we get bonus points for each 100+ word post we make off topic?

I wasn't aware that there was a word limit on posts.

It's not off topic. My question is a valid question to valid responses to the topic. Here it is again. Why text that much?

Because that is their avenue of communication. The cool thing about the world is that it is a multifarious one. Some people enjoy talking on the phone, others enjoy texting...

True. I wonder why that shift has occurred. It seems like every generation uses the phone, and values human contact, less and less. Maybe it's because it's old tech. Old tech is uncool I guess.

I suppose I'm just old school.

So can somebody ANSWER the dang question!!!!!!!!

I really need to know how to do save texts to my computer and the tips listed on the first page don't work or require JB.

PLEASE HELP!!!!! :)
