I pull all of my photos and videos off of my phone, onto my MB, arrange them in folders, and sync back to my phone. I keep all of my photos and videos local in my photos app, categorized in folders, and never let my camera roll go above 300 pics/vids. I don't like relying on stability of my network to get something from the cloud. So that is my use case, albeit likely not a common one.
I do it exactly like you. And I also do this with my iTunes music library that I've curated since 2009. It contains all of my CDs and online music purchases. I share my Apple ID with my son. So we both don't use any cloud services in order to keep our phones private and separated. The benefit of having all your music on your phone is being able to listen to it offline at any time. Same goes for having acces to your photos at any time, even when there's no service. I also download podcasts, movies and audiobooks to my phone when I'm traveling.

It really isn't. Some western states are really big and really empty. There are people but we live in smaller pockets on more land. That isn't where the telecoms are investing so we can struggle to get a good signal even near a highway.
Yes, that's me. Living in a lovely, remote and rural area. Every Apple device I own has high storage.

Day 1 of 1TB iPhone 15 Pro Max, coming from a 256 gb 11 pro max.

So glad I sprung for 1TB. Downloading photos and music with reckless abandon. I have recently upgraded my iCloud to 2TB too and now have access to basically my entire Mac Files as well. It just feels liberating and worth a few hundred bucks. Over 3-4 years of having this phone, it really doesn’t matter imo.
