It would be really nice if you could swap the gestures for reachability and spotlight search. Personally, I would rather swipe down in the middle of the screen for reachability and have spotlight search gesture at the bottom of the screen.
The only problem with that is reachability is supposed to be accessible from everywhere, even in apps. But a middle of screen pull down wouldn’t work for a lot of apps.

Not hyperbole. Just very difficult to type cramped on that screen now that I’m not used to it anymore...
I wouldn’t sell yourself too short though. I think it surprises people how quickly they can get used to things.
Not trying to convince you to do anything. Just saying.

Can't anymore. Carpal tunnel's a pain. I mostly just use my phone for camera and calls. Most of my typing's done on the iPad. Even phone calls, I often just answer on iPad speakerphone (I'm just by myself in the office these days).

Will most likely go from X to the new SE, reasons are size, weight and Touch ID. But I will keep the X as a backup phone.

I sold my XS on eBay and jumped at the SE Product red 64 GB. I used that XS for a year but before that I used the original SE for over 2 years and boy was it hard getting used to the XS. It often slipped out of my hand as I was working on my phone while power walking. I waited anxiously for months for the SE and had it in my hands on Friday. Perfect size for one handed use. Battery life is not terrible but between charger in car, at home and when I d go to the office I am covered. My wife sold her 11 Pro for the SE. She does not like the SE screen as the 625 nits is not nearly as good as the 11 Pro 800 nits. But she does love the size as it reminds her of her 6S.

I wouldn't do XS to the SE myself. If I had the regular X, I would've considered it. The SE is a good phone, but the TouchID design isn't something I am akin to go back to. I am excited more so for the 12.

Ah yeah carpal is no fun.
I don’t use my phone at all at home, just my iPad mini.

Isn’t the X/XS and SE2 pretty close in size (3mm wider, is it)? Does that come out to a pretty big difference in usability?

I just took advantage of Xfinity Mobiles deal the Iphone SE 64 GB Product Red, 8.63 a month do 50% off $199. I'm going to sell My Iphone XS Max.

I'm coming from a 6s plus. Been dying for a smaller form factor. Actually held a 3G in my hand the other day and remembered how much better that one handed form factor is. This is the best I can get with a modern phone but I'm sure it will take adjusting.

The SE is much lighter in my pocket and just feels slimmer during one handed use. Also with face coverings being a big part of this new world we live in there is nothing like Touch ID. The several mm difference is just icing on top of the cake for me. We all must choose what works best for us. My only gripe is that the battery life is mediocre but I am often surrounded by chargers so I can live with that.

This really is the biggest annoyance I have. It drags down clothing and unless you're carrying two phones, the weight is lopsided.

Yes and when I am out hiking in the Florida heat wearing sports shorts the heavier phones really get on my nerves. The old SE I hardly noticed when it was in my pocket. The new SE is a bit Bigger but it is a tad thinner which helps. Overall I am happy to be back to a more manageable phone. My wife misses the screen on her iPhone 11 Pro but she is enjoying the ease of one handed operation and the lighter weight in her pocket book.

I left the S10 for the SE because I'd like back into the Apple ecosystem and Android is a convoluted mess. Nice screens though..

There will be a day where Apple will offer touch ID and Face ID together. Albeit, touch ID will be in a different form with the technology embedded under display, but it’s coming.

The difference is not so much in numbers but for me it is pretty noticeable when using it, especially when for a longer time and/or using it singlehanded.

Size is similar but if you work with safari, lower panel is higher and adress bar is lower because of bezels. Or if you want to go to control center (from down) or notification center. So in user experience it behave as much smaller device...

I had this experience when I got my first iPhone SE a couple of years back. It wasn’t necessarily a “newer” phone but I’d been using a 6” Android phone at the time, but I also had a rather pathetic 3.5” Microsoft Nokia thing because the bigger phone was too cumbersome when going out running.

Going from the massive screen of the Android to the small screen of the SE wasn’t as big a jolt as I expected - mainly because iOS was more uniform in its layout, so it just worked more easily for me.

The biggest issue was battery life. That Android had a 6,000mAh battery in it. It was so big that it even had the facility that it could act as a power bank and power lesser devices. That was cool. It lasted ages, unlike the SE for which I always had to carry a power bank around with me.

I still have that old 6” phone and, other than the crack in its screen (I dropped it - which prompted the replacement that was the SE), it works just fine. I’ve no desire to go back to it, though. The novelty of the big size wore off.

I’m in the same boat, I just can not comfortably text on the SE.
I think this is an interesting point which shows how things have moved on. I sometimes have a need to text when I'm out on a run or, as is the case right now, when I'm running the treadmill. But, on these occasions, I text through my Apple Watch by speaking the text.

The size of the phone in this instance is immaterial. When on the treadmill, the phone is usually still on my desk at the other side of the room. When on an outdoor run, the phone is rarely taken out of my backpack or arm sleeve. Technology is crazy.

On paper a few mm doesn’t seem like a big deal, but in usage it actually is. The weight is probably the biggest difference. I think it’s 30 grams, which is significant when you are taking about 150 - 180grams total. Using the SE for a few days will make most to the new phones feel like a brick in your pocket.

I am just tired of flagship phones nowadays. They pack lots of things I seldomly used. E.g. Pixel 4's motion controls, iPhone X's animoji etc. Most of these flagship phones are huge that I can barely hold them using one hand. The notches are ugly, and the price tags are insane. That's why when the SE came out I immediately ordered one. It does not have anything I don't need. It has top spec processing power that I don't need to worry about it would become slow in a few years. And it is relatively cheap. I hope it could have the headphone jack but I guess that is impossible for Apple.

You can get a basic AirPods together with the SE, and the total cost will still be less than what people are spending for flagship phones.

I purchased a 128gb in silver just to have as a backup phone and to switch back and forth with my 11 pro max. I set up my SE last night and now that I have it and am using it at work, I will be switching back tonight and returning it later this week. Nothing wrong with the phone itself or anything, just way too tiny now that I have it out and about with me.

8+ to SE. More speed and better pocketability. Don't miss the second camera and the higher weight :)

I’m thinking bout doing this, mainly because of size. How’s the two screens compare, besides size of course? I’m hearing mixed things about the SE having a not so bright display, though we are coming from the 8+ and not a 11/Pro or anything too new, so not sure it’d be noticeable.

Nothing of notice. All is well :)

By Touch ID, I meant the home button one. I am not likely to jump on a device that has TouchID in the display. I disliked the one Samsung put out on the S10. Maybe it might be better in the iPhone, but I'll hold off and go for the cheapest 12 w/ a 120 Hz refreshable display.
