Really hope they add some indication of if you downloaded an album by the next beta. Yes I know which ones I downloaded but there's no indication of this when scrolling to download other albums.

I'm wondering if the new "Optimize Storage" option in Music for iOS 10 (see screenshot) maybe was something it always did but now have the option as a way to turn it off. (Could be why things have been deleted.)

I don't have this option, not that I can find anyways.
I wonder if you have to have iCloud Music Library turned on.

You knew Steve Jobs personally? How do you know that he would share you personal opinion on the matter?

It's funny how people complain all through out iOS 7-8 that the music app sucks, then complain it sucks post 8.4 and want it back to 7-8.3 days. And now want it back to 8.4-9.3 days.

Make up your minds.

I never complained. But I am very much complaining about iOS 10's Music App and Apple Music. Number one thing missing: THE MUSIC! Search Gucci Mane on an iOS 9 device and an iOS 10 device and your will get about 12 albums on the iOS 10 device and countless albums on iOS 9. What's the deal? And where are the artist bios?? I loved reading about new artists with those bios.

Hi guys, hoping someone could answer a question about the music app, it's a bit hard for me to explain but here goes:

So before the update that included Apple Music and all that jazz, the "shuffle all" feature would play all songs in my library, one by one, in a random order until it had played them all once, then it would start again. It would say something like "playing 7 of 677" on the screen.

But with that update, shuffle all has changed in that it really is truly random shuffling and often will play the same song twice just a few songs apart.

Any chance in iOS 10 that it's gone back to the old "don't repeat songs till it's played them all" way...?

That tends to be the case with all iOS betas...I remember it clearly ast year and was so frustrating. If I started random play on a song that began with the letter A it would never get to a song that started passed the letter E for example...it's like it only grabbed a small selection of the total to play randomly.

Good news...it was fixed by the time the full version was released. Some sort of coding thing that just comes with betas I guess.

There are only "Shuffle All" buttons within individual albums and playlists. You can't do it with your entire library or for a single artist. It's really irritating as I regularly shuffle my entire library or an artist's full discography.
There is a shuffle all button in iOS 10 Developer Beta 2 \ Public Beta 1 .

Today just a brief use, I find something, what should I say, stupid enough for me to imagine if staff in music app design team is ***** s**t while developing.
For songs having lyrics, I need to SCROLL ALL THE WAY TO THE END OF LYRICS before seeing shuffle/repeat button. What the... I say, what the heck this mean? Is there anything fundamentally wrong to put "repeat/shuffle" button within the first page of now playing interface? Why we are punished to keep scrolling all the time? Is this iOS 1 release when only thing Steve Jobs could show was "scrolling" everywhere? Serious, Apple?! I would like to give this a BAD APPLE. *followed by screaming*
Even if I can first hide lyrics before seeing those two buttons, I can hardly see why Apple punishes users to keep scrolling. This is fundamentally different from pressing home button twice to unlock device. Fundamentally different.

Take a valium. The design and layout aren't final, as we already have seen literally dozens of times in x.0 betas.

The thing is that such flaws should not even make it to Beta 1. I said it before and I'll say it again, the new music app is a mess. I really like iOS 10 in general, but the music app is far behind the competition feature wise and on top of that, it looks awful. No excuse for that from a big company like Apple.

There's lots of place to put the repeat/shuffle buttons id they reduce the size of the font and the play/rewind buttons. We'll see what happens in the coming betas.

So, I would love to read about why Apple has decided to redo Apple Music from the ground up. Anyone have an article? 15 million subscribers in year one and for some reason the iOS9 version wasn't cutting it? So now Apple wants 15 million people to be confused on their workflows once again by changing every aspect of the Music app?

Am I the only one that doesn't get why Apple is doing this?

You are not the only one.
Apple has made a huge mistake here by assuming "starting from ground up would result better outcome than optimising exisiting stuff", which in many cases, is not.

There was a lot of places to improve the app but from the ground up? No I don't understand. IMO, some of the changes they made are great but the overall look of the app is awful. Add that to missing features like crossfade, can't detect a song already in a playlist, ... There was nothing wrong with the Now Playing screen. I liked it a lot because it had a full side to side album cover view compare to what they have in the new version. Actually, it's one place were Apple Music looked better than Spotify and they're changing it. All that red & white is too much.

Really hope they add repeat and shuffle buttons on this screen.
