Now I've had my M6 for a week or so, I haven't once regretted the extra outlay - it is a stunning little camera and puts out landscape photos pretty much as good as my micro 4/3 camera to my uneducated eyes.
I sold the M2 yesterday as I won't miss it, because the low light capability in the M6 is so much better. The max. aperture of 2.8 is acceptably good, and the longer reach is excellent.
Focussing speed and accuracy are miles better too, as is the IQ and colour rendition.

I say go for it @Donka :)

Cheers :)

Cheers Hugh. I’m still tempted but thinking about a new Mac purchase this month as well as possibly the new Fujifilm X-T3 if that makes a grand entrance. I’m loving the mark 3 for the time being though.

Andy.

Nice!

If Canon release the EOS R and Fuji land the XT-3 then it is going to be an interesting few months indeed!

Glad you got the RX100 M6, Hugh! It IS a great little camera, isn't it? I love mine!
Yeah, I blame you for that :D

It is a great camera though; I am questioning the need for anything else, which I would never do with the old M2.

Cheers :)

If by interesting you mean expensive then yes I agree! Something new for Mrs Donka to roll her eyes at! :D

Sorry, I'm not going to buy an RX10 - sticking with my Panny for now, but you did get me thinking about one!

Cheers :)

It was when I started following threads on DPR (DPreview.com) that I saw various comments and samples of images from the RX10 M4 and my curiosity was aroused. It also happened to be at a time when I was looking ahead to a beach trip and knew that I would not want to take along a DSLR and be fooling around with changing lenses, and yet needed more reach than I would be able to get with my new RX100 M6. Next thing you know, I found myself in a local store handling one, buying one, and quickly becoming acquainted with it before my trip — and it performed well, beyond my expectations, so I am very happy with it. Not planning any more trips in the immediate future but the next time I’m traveling, both of these cameras are the ones which will be going with me. In the meantime, there is plenty around my home area to keep them busy, too!

The RX10m4 is an awesome camera, actually so is the m3 if you don’t need the phase detect and improved performance. That combination of sensor and lens is certainly a winning one. That’s partly the reason why I haven’t plumped for the RX100m6 yet.

I really love both cameras and they do complement each other nicely. For instance, on that beach trip one day we were at the bay and there was a boat parade plus fireworks.....I used the RX10 m4 most of the time. The next day we were oceanside at the beach itself, on the boardwalk, and in the evening were going to be attending a concert, so I reluctantly left the RX10 M4 behind and carried just the RX100 M6, as I knew it wouldn't be a good idea to go into the concert with the larger camera, as photography is usually forbidden at such events (it was not a rock concert!). Everything worked out really well and I got some nice images on both cameras. Around home, if I want to take a walk around our little lake, either camera will do nicely, and both have been on excursions with me and will be going on more once the weather cools down a little.

If I could have only ONE of the two cameras? I probably would choose the RX10 M4......
