I'm tired of so many people hating on apple. I'm talking about my friends on general, so I don't know if you guys can relate. They're all the type of people who want control over everything and that's one of the reasons why they dislike apple or always complain to me about it since I'm the one guy in the group who really loves apple. I still find it funny how they own iPods or iPhones though. I gave one of them my 4th gen iPod touch when I got my iPhone 4s and he complains so much about it even though he said thanks for it. And then the other guys jumped on the iPhone bandwagon but now he talks about how he can't wait to move over to android. Sometimes I think they complain just to get on my nerves but I really hope they all buy their windows stuff and android phones so they will shut up!

Sorry for that rant, I needed to get it out of my system.

I have friends like this. If they like Windows/Android great, I could care less. I don't criticize them for their choices.

Yet they feel the need to criticize for mine, which is when we have a problem.

Honestly OP the best way is to ignore them, and they will get bored eventually. If they still don't stop talk way above their head on why you don't like their particular hardware/software and why you chose what you did. I did this just this morning to a friend of mine telling me I need to get off of my "toyPad" and get an Asus Transformer tablet. After giving my very long and detailed lecture on why I prefer iOS to Android he eventually shut up and made the comment "geeze remind me to never talk to you about tech again".

He now knows that if he brings it up again he will hear a very long, very technical, and very in depth speech on why I prefer iOS.

It is very annoying though, the worst part is is almost all Apple haters really don't know a thing about Apple or its products. I still have people I know who think Apple computers aren't compatible with things like the internet, or that Apple mandates what applications you can install on your computer. Silly.

I had a guy at uni who started complaining at me for having an apple logo as my desktop saying how stupid it was, he opened up his laptop and it had a big ass windows logo as his desktop, I laughed, he didn't see the irony.

Point is, either way guy, you've gotta just not care, that's the best way to get through life, just not giving a crap about other people like that :)

Try not to lose sleep.

Lol alright I may of exaggerated a bit but I really do enjoy my apple products. However other companies also make great stuff and I think that they should be less bias.

Apple can be frustrating at times because since it's one company that controls the ecosystem, you're sort of stuck with what they give you. That being said I have no idea why people care what brand of electronic device that you use. The only thing I actually like about Android personally is the little robot they use in their commercials ;).

I have a few friends with MacBook pros at uni and I'm usually the one getting flak for having an HP laptop. When they start that crap though, I rip into them about the flaws and faults of their laptop. I never preach to people unless they provoke me, its your choice what you use, theres no need to ram in down peoples throats.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I'll make sure not to let their negative attitudes bother me. You're right, it's just a computer company and I shouldn't give a crap about the products, it's just expensive stuff without a soul. I should probably find new friends while I'm at it.

Watch the documentary Macheads....it is SUPPOSED to be just a product, but if you look into it deeper, Apple products are more than just that, they come with the collective community of the people...just look at these here forums :)

But it isn't *just* a product. That's what's great about it. Apple treats tech like a lifestyle extension, not some cold circuit-filled commodity. This approach is completely unlike the approach anyone else in the industry employs. That's why Apple gets results (and loyalty) like no one else in the industry experiences.

This makes sense.

I like it in my case where I see my Apple products as something as a useful tool which looks nice at the same time. What I don't like is when the Apple lifestyle becomes a cult to somebody. It's OK to make Apple a part of one's life but to extend it to worship is just what makes many people hate the company. There are too many weak people with poor self esteem who get the wrong message from Apple and take it up as a religion even though it was never the intention of Apple. I don't blame Apple but the fanboi culture that popped up around Apple representing themselves as the company/life/cult.

A good majority of my friends are great guys I met in college. Most of us were studying for our masters in computer science and electrical engineering. So the point is we're all geeks with varied tastes and preferences in the platforms we use today. Some platforms are dictated by the companies we work for, some like myself are in cross platform environments.

We tease each other for fun but it's never personal. That's because we have mutual respect and true friendship.

We _all_realize it's just a bloody computer :)

They Hate Apple Products Casue They Can't Afford Them

They can't admit Apple products deliver superior user experiences because they cant afford to buy them. This helps them cope with their inability to have them. Are they still dissing Apple for not supporting Flash?

Exactly, and Apple actually did make me new friends, and a wonderful girlfriend (met in the iPhone line none-other), so I don't know about you, but Apple has helped me out in may ways other than giving me a great computer ;)

It's just Mac envy ... Yawn ...

This is the kind of attitude that makes me judgmental towards Apple product users. People don't -hate- Apple, their irritation towards people like you just happens to be tied down to Apple. If people would stop acting superior with a hipster attitude and smug grin every time they use an Apple product in public, there wouldn't be such negativity with Apple. Even Apple could use a little work. Those commercials of theirs is the epitome of d**k-sucking ego-boosting vain pride that people hate about Apple as well.

Also, let's get something straight -- PC definitely has its advantages. You'd be lying to yourself if you denied the fact that Apple prioritizes form over functionality. That doesn't mean their computers are bad, just that tech-savvy PC users care more about their performance and bang for the buck which is why they're so critical of Apple.

Just to be clear, I've owned 6+ ipods in my lifetime, owned 3 iPhones, a magic mouse, wireless keyboard, and will soon be an owner of a Macbook Pro. I love all my Apple products dearly and use it accordingly, but I don't flaunt about it everywhere to everyone.

You are going to get a Macbook Pro. That is a great computer but you may find yourself hard to not be an evangelist. ;)

Seriously though, the products that I have found that make a person woo over Apple are the iPods and iPhones. I don't own either, but have several Macs, but I can already see where either an iPod Touch or iPhone would be very useful in my life. The iPod Touch was what I one day envisioned a multi-function mini computer to be one day and that day is here. But again, the latest couple of iPhone renditions fit that description, too.

After owning 2 MacBooks, a MacBook Air, 2 iPhones, an Airport Express, a Apple Cinema Display (for 2 weeks... long story there), a mighty mouse, an Apple Keyboard and 2 iPods, I can safely say :

I don't find it hard at all to NOT be an evangelist. Plenty of issues with Apple corporate and the products themselves to relate. The experience wasn't overall different than any other gear I've owned and I've been doing the PC/electronics thing for close to 2 decades now.

Frankly, people that find the need to "evangelize" about Apple scare me. Either they really have never used products outside of Apple's fare or they are in deep denial about the quality levels. It really is "same stuff, different package".

I suppose PCs and Macs have their good and bad points. I will never buy a PC laptop again though.

Sure with Apple products you pay more but you get WAY better customer service.

When my iPad broke down while still under warranty, I took it to the genuis bar and he sorted it out for me there and then for no charge.

This alone is why I'm purchasing a 17" Macbook Pro from Apple, as I know I can get into a store if I have any problems and they will fix the problem while it's under warranty or Applecare; but I've had no problems with my PC laptops too.

I'm still using a PC laptop that I've had for 3 years; but it's time to move on next year.

I'm tired of all the Apple love.

I honestly have no understanding of how people make these relationships with silicone and metal. They're not works of art.

I honestly have no understanding of how people have love with latex paint and a fabric canvas. They're not works of art.

(One can perceive anything as Art, so that means all abstract art is pointless?)

I never had any issues with the 2 Dell Inspirons I owned, so I can't really comment on their after-sales service. However, I had an issue with my MBA's display and my MacBook's fan assembly and frankly, I hate going to the genius bar. It's always crowded, it's always a mess, and your appointment time is never respected (always have to wait 30 minutes+).

Also, you have to leave your computer there for 2-3 days, so frankly, not much different than "drop-off at depot" service you get from Dell.

My next laptop will probably be another MacBook, maybe an 11" air this time. However, I'm not fooled into believing the service and quality are somehow superior. Apple has good service, on par with the competition if you ask me.
