This is a journey I'm realizing that every Avid iPhone user has to take IMO, whether it be sooner or later.

It's something about the rock solid performance of an iPhone that can rock us to sleep.

I took my 15 month hiatus away from iPhone in the form of the Galaxy S3 & S4 and in all honesty, it only made me appreciate the iPhone more.

So go ahead, do what your curiosity requires... just don't too suprised when you're ready to come back in a year or so.

I have heard this "you'll be back" argument on many occasion on these boards, but TBH have no desire to return myself. It is going to be natural that on an iOS led board that those few that do not get on with Android do post that they are back, those, like me that stay with Android are not going to post every month "still with Android". My time away from the iPhone (3GS, 4,4S and 5) unlike you, has not made me appreciate the iPhone more, in fact, quite the opposite, shows me what I have missed.

I last used an iPhone as my daily driver in 2012. After 4 years I switched it Android getting the original galaxy note and then the S4 . I enjoyed android a lot but in January of this year after 22 months of Android, I put on my rose tinted glasses and decided to get the iPhone 5S. After 2 weeks I was missing android and after 28 days I threw in the towel and went back to Android. The iPhone is a great phone however it just isn't for me anymore. I guess I've moved on. I have no desire to go back.

That's for sure. The s5 is an inferior device to other phones on the market but will most likely be neck and neck with the iPhone for most sales. Samsung's marketing might is spectacular.

Well in my opinion it's not which has nothing to do with Samsung's marketing. I look all the features of every phone and then work out which one I prefer, based on my own needs and preferences.

The moto X wouldn't even make my top 5, but we are all different.

Yes, you don't owe anything to any company. You don't owe a lifetime debt to them.

I've been wanting an S5 as of late because I'm heading to Hawaii this weekend and will do alot of water activities. And where I live, it rains even during a season we call summer. Just now, it is raining and it isn't rainy season for us yet.

Water-resistant phones is starting to get more appealing. No waterproof cases needed. No ziplock bags.

That is what matters most.....how the phone fits your lifestyle and how you are going to use it. What is most practical........

I spent 2 years on Android because I got bored with my iPhone 4.

It wasn't a very good experience.

In stock form it was laggy. In ROM'd form it was still laggy.

Hated the force closes and random reboots.

I've been back in the fold since November '13 with the iPhone 5S.

It may get boring every once and a while, but you can't beat its rock solid performance.

I have had Moto G, note 3, and now using M8 & S5 and not one force close and random reboot:roll eyes:
My 5S needed to be shutdown power and home button often.

On speaking to a few friends recently who happen to have iPhones I have been quite surprised that quite a few of them have changed or are planning to change to the new S5. Those that have changed have said they will not be going back to the iphone and that they should have made the jump sooner and those who are planning to change state one of the reasons for the change is due to iOS just being boring!

I think apple do need to up their game tho

Android is also less stable in my experience: I have to reboot my nexus 7 from time to time, and it is vanilla android KitKat ....

I was an iPhone user. Had every model up to and including the 5.
I had previously dabbled with other phones, WP7 and Android, but always went back to the iPhone.
It was the Galaxy S3 that finally hooked me, then a few months later the Note 2(and now the Note 3). I did have a brief encounter with the iPhone 5, but it didnt last long.I don't think I could ever go back to it again,I love the Note series .It will take something special to tempt me away, and I just don't think that will be the iPhone, although I would never say never. That depends on what they do with it.

The S3 is what kept me on Android too. Before that I've tried random Android phones and it was always one negative that was too big to overcome. Now I'm using the S4 which is the longest I've been any phone for awhile. I'll be getting the Note 4 next.

iOS just seems to impersonal and like a one way road with no turns.

I cannot agree with this more. Prior to using android I felt bored with ios.

I then purchased an S2 (2011) thinking id like the openness of it and all the options. After 6months I was hankering to come back to ios.

Things that ******* me off about android:

Inconsistent updates between devices
The haptic buttons being pressed when holding phone.
The lock screen continually being unlocked when taking phone out of pocket
Crappy build quality if the S2 (Samsung issue I know, but not something I have to worry about when using ios)
Having options just for the sake of having options - it slowed down my workflow

Go free and try android. It may be to your liking and we will never see you again. Or like myself it might just reignite why you were with apple in the first place

You could easily get the Nexus 5 or HTC M8 GPE and you'd never have these specific problems.

If you're planning on keeping the phone stock, I don't see much difference between Android and iOS. Play with an S5 in the store and see how you like it. The build quality of Samsung devices is not bad at all. Mine has been through a lot and still works fine.

If you're like me and want to root it the second you take it home, then get the S5. My S3 runs far better with Cyanogenmod and tons of cruft removed than it did with the stock ROM. I would never leave a phone stock, so it would be an easy decision if I was in your shoes.

No I could not. I did my "experimenting" back in 2011. The s2 had its chance to impress and I found it to under perform compared to my 3G. Sure it was faster, but that's about it.

I am lost to apple now....

If you haven't used android since 2011 you really wouldn't have much to offer in this thread.....android has improved immeasurably since then

While I do agree with that I also understand him, first impression is very important and I can see how a lot of people won't give android a second chance.

Only if your phone supports the update :D

(And yes I do realise not all apple phones can be updated to the current OS. It was a joke based off one of my gripes)

My thoughts: If you are really that bored with the iPhone than sure switch on over. But just know that the very amazing Galaxy S5 Prime is on the way with 2K QHD screen, 3GB RAM, and Snapdragon 805 processor with LTE-A radio.

I switched to the S5 from the iPhone 5S and I love the move personally. The screen is so good and the CPU plenty fast. The phone is so nice to hold, the battery is great and I am loving the return of the Swype keyboard. The camera is really good and having so many options for live filters makes it a lot of fun to use.

Cons are that I miss iTunes and the syncing of my music with the Mac. The apps are also not quite as polished as on iOS especially the photo ones. One of all time favorite apps is Waterlogue and the one on the Play Store is ripoff scam that I stupidly paid for only to find out it's not even remotely the same as the iPhone version nor is made by the same Devs.

All in all though I would take the plunge. Don't worry about storage either. My 5S was a 64GB and I was able to get a 64GB SD card for about $50 at radio shack. You can even go as high as 128 if you so choose.

Ditto. Android is far from perfect, but at this point now switching back to an iPhone seems unthinkable.

While I don't doubt that there are few genuine folks here who gave Android a good shot and still decided to go back, I think the majority who say they are switching back simply couldn't get over the "shock" of the transition and jumped back before anything sunk in.

On my S5 right now actually.

No I will not be going back to my iPhone 5S.

Let's see what Apple does with iOS 8 and iPhone 6 before talking about any homecoming.

For now, I like the S5 a lot.

^^^ what he said......for me IOS8 and IP6 has to hit it out of the park to get me back to an iPhone again.
