I'd try a restore. That will probably fix your problem.

Never done a restore, this is my first iPhone.

Yes, you would have to re-jailbreak if you restore your iPhone.

It's always done that since the first release.

Mine hasn't, but I wonder if the upgraded map has something to do with it. Mine is USA and Canada. Which one do you have?

The other huge annoyance is that my favorites were lost on this upgrade. I had a bunch of really useful locations. Mostly rental car return lots at various US airports that I'd saved via GPS location rather than address (which is often wrong). Be warned.
