Yes U R right so use the pencil instead of you finger I find it working very well.

THIS. Now that I finally got my pencil, I find that I am using it a lot now as a regular stylus. As much as I love just using my fingers, it is a pain to constantly keep cleaning the screen after it gets filled with fingerprints. At least now I am doing the cleaning a whole lot less.

To me this is a defect....this is like a 7th gen product that we are paying a premium price for and the performance in terms of the screen coating which was on previous models is a failure....so many aspects of the iPad pro seem somewhat half baked to me....i.e. The slower Touch ID, no battery saving mode, ridiculous charging of Pencil, half baked split view multi-tasking roll, super long battery charging time.... Does anyone here think they may have not added the coating on the screen to maybe the first batch of these devices, or is it all of them? I really want to like this device as a musician, but since it was so darn expensive for me I expect a lot more

Its not a defect. Any glass surface will do that. ANY. I don't care what coating you have on it. Oils and **** on your hands are going to leave marks on the screen. Just how it is. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Seems you're unhappy with the IPP in general.

The key question for me is, with this protector installed is it easier to remove the fingerprints? It's incredibly tough to remove fingerprints from the actual IPP glass I am finding...if yes, I'm gonna order it...unless anyone else can recommend a better protector in terms of fingerprint minimization

Just got in from trip, to answer your question, yes this one makes it easier to remove fingerprints. I really like this protector, I'm not exaggerating when I say that I can't even tell I have anything on my screen, it's really clear, and reduces the fingerprints and easier to remove them with a quick swipe of microfiber cloth.
I don't think you would be disappointed with this one in any way.

A glass full of ice leaves rings on the coffee table. Does this mean the glass is defective??

I definetly don't think the screen is defective!! I really just put an inexpensive screen protector on it because I use mine outside quite a bit and didn't want tiny grit/dust to make any scratches. The fact that it reduced the fingerprints was a plus. I think any glass screen is going to get fingerprints, the IPP has a much larger surface area, I think that's why they are so noticeable, compared to previous IPads anyway.

Don't get me wrong...I just want it to be the best iPad I've ever had given the cost...its just bothersome there are these deficiencies. Of course every iPad or iPhone I've had picked up fingerprints. But by seemingly not having the same coating it is MUCH harder to remove fingerprints on iPad pro...I love the screen size and resolution. As a musician this seems much more like the size iPad I've always wanted. Just wishing it were more perfect. Many days I wish I could work at Apple.

Im still not sure there is a difference in the coating; it is possible the fingerprints are more visible because of the bigger screen, and that my hand is resting on it a lot more (when sketching, for example).

If there is a difference in coating, it would be by design and to do with the apple pencil. The rubber tip is actually quite rigid, and i could imagine it damaging the coating on other devices. I have got fine scratches in other devices which were actually in the coating. These could be removed by using alcohol (which also removed the coating). To call it a "defect" seems a little exaggerated.

As for the other "half baked" elements you noted - its hard to agree with them (as an owner of the IPP). Charging of the pencil, for example, is a highlight for me. I can charge it on a cable using the adapter. Or, if im on the move, i can pop it into the unit itself and charge it up. It charges so quickly, its really a non issue.

The only thing on your list that they may have been tight with is the touch ID - they could have included the faster one. However, for how I use the iPP, i cant imagine it making any difference whatsoever to my workflow (i.e. im not locking / unlocking anywhere near as much as an iphone).

My super expensive rMBP screen picks up fingerprints as well. So... is that a deficiency as well? Nope. It's just how glass works. Cleaning the screen is not hard either. It's the same as any other device.

Also find out the a case with front screen helps too.

I'm not sure why some people get so defensive with criticism of the iPad pro. My only argument is that it could have been way better especially if you wanna call it a "pro" device. I would have to agree that I have this feeling with most of the product releases under Tim Cook's reign. I never found fingerprints or their removal an issue on any other iPad or iPhone until THIS device. What part of that is confusing for people?... Maybe you guys are right but I thought it was just me who had concerns until I found this thread.

I found a damp microfiber cloth took care of my greasy fingerprints. The only difference between my iPhone and iPad Pro is that the latter has more area.

Sorry, but that is silly. The rMBP's screen is not intended to be touched. The iPad is.

Its not only about scratches. It is about making the user experience better. There is literally no more wiping the screen, and it just feels better to the touch.

Yes the process is daunting and scary the first time doing it, it was my first time using these types of protectors as well. I was regretting it midway through the process as I saw all that solution on top of my screen. I was thinking what have I done? Just make sure to watch videos, and prep before doing it.

After the first time Im sure the 2nd time around for me will be easy.

Argh, I still may end up naked but I'm going to try this. I got the back cover for the iPP and the screen cover for my iPhone as well, so that by the time I get to my iPP screen protector I'll be on my third installation. Hopefully I'll have worked my skills out.

I'm feeling conflicted about this, but I think I'm going to return my defective glass protector to Amazon. Aside from being not quite clear, the edges are rough and separating into layers at the corners, so even with a good install the corners show air--which over time has let in a few dust specks. I feel bad sending back a product that will end up in the landfill, but I'm not sure I should have to eat the loss either:/

Do it, make sure you go with Matte. Never had to wipe my screen even once.

One tip i can give you is make sure you fully spray the protector so that all the sticky area is wet. Dont be afraid to spray alot, but after, you just hold it vertically so that the excess solution can drip off before you start applying to the screen.

My mistake when doing it was I was spraying the protector, thinking I got all the contact areas covered, but not every area was hit with the solution, so when I went to apply, there was alot of resistance in trying to position the protector on the screen, because these dry areas were sticky. I had to lift it up and start spraying again, which kinda of cause a bit of dust to start getting caught, but I was able to sqeeugee almost all of it out after I positioned the protector on.

Need more advice just ask.

I installed a Zagg clear (non-glass) protector and that did the trick. I too hated the pile of fingerprints; I had to clean the screen by mid-day on a normal office day.
Thanks.

I had a zagg glass on the iPhone, but replaced it with something else on amazon that had 5 stars...new one is hot trash. Fingerprints, highly reflective, and filled with those sparkly rainbows you see on old Dell monitors.

I don't recall fingerprints being an issue with the zagg, so I'll try one of those. My poor pro looks horrible after a half hour with it.

That said there's something satisfying about touching the naked glass. The sound it makes?
