I thought the iPhone could multitask?
iPhone could multitasking just as palm OS classic can.

It will need numerous ***** s to call it multitasking. Since multitasking is a generally defined term.

Thats if you max out the plans. All 3 carriers have cheaper plans.
yeah

cheapest plan on sprint is $70/mo (450min+unlimited text and data)
cheapest plan on ATT is $40+30+20=90 (450min+unlimited text and data)
cheapest plan on T-Mobile is difficult to say, because its plan is so strange and I couldn't found one that is comparable to above two.

so over 2 years, Sprint saves about $480 over ATT on cheapest plans.

Sure if you let go txt, they would be same, if you let go the data, att would be cheaper actually, but iPhone without data?....lol

Sprint and Tmobile are still generally less expensive.

450 minutes + iPhone data + unlimited messaging from ATT is $90 a month

450 minutes + Everything data plan (includes messaging) from sprint it $70 a month

Of course in my world both plans are still to expensive for my tastes. Right now I am paying $55 a month for 450 minutes, unlimited data and 1000 text messages :)

I don't even pay anywhere close to that for my monthly plan, these guys are assuming every iphone user is paying the same amount monthly. You can go up or even below that amount depending on your usage.

Sprint has LESS COVERAGE. That's why it cost less for their plans.

You are paying less for less coverage. I guess that's too difficult for some people to understand.

Less coverage how? Sprint has just as big a network as ATT and Verizon.

I've been with them for years now, never had a problem anywhere in the country.

Hell they were one of the first companies to get 3G out into the burbs in my area.

AFAIK the plans from Sprint available to be used w/the Pre also include roaming on Verizon's network at no charge. The plans from Sprint also include unlimited use of their TeleNav service (voice, turn-by-turn GPS directions).

The G1 seems to come off badly there given that its open source and only has 1GB of memory. I suppose expanding it will be cheap.

But wait, iPhone is the only one without multitasking? So who is right about the battery life being drained, Apple, or seemingly every other smartphone manufacturer?

The reality is too complicated for you to make such simple (and in this case, wrong) assumptions, sprint allow users to roam on Verizon for both voice and data for free. I was listening to streaming of KERA on a trip to Wyoming all the way.

Its telenavi is also great.

I dunno how many people would be concerned about less coverage, how many people actually travel frequently to areas of low coverage? And are AT&T charging every user the same for coverage that they are unlikely to use?

I'd happily pay less for coverage I am going to use.

Actually the iphone does multitask, people should stop parading that myth, just not with 3rd party apps.

I'm tired of apple fans redefine the commonly understand term all the time. What benefite does it serve ?

"I can run these 3 specific apps together!" get real. If that's multitasking. 6 years of bashing palm for not supporting multitasking in its classic OS must be insane! And guess what, nobody in smartphone/pda industry considers running 3 specific app at the same time as "multitasking".

The android is a wonderful phone. A 16 GB MicroSD card is only 40 bucks. A 32 GB model is coming out soon.

The only rip I have on it is the shape of the phone. For some reason they didn't make a single block, but made it have a piece diagonal to the rest of the phone.
