This is simply a rip off of VNsea minus the on screen display! Its even the same menu on the bottom! Anyone who thinks that using there iPhone to control their computer is "great" when their full sized mouse and keyboard are just as close, should be slapped. I use VNsea all the time to do the exact same thing, but usually when I'm miles away from my computer.

where can I get VNSea? What source do I need to add?

I don't know how practical this particular app is, but I think it shows some of the possibilities for whenever this SDK comes out.

Once big time developers start creating software for the iPhone, there could really be some pretty amazing stuff out there.

I see the 100% CPU usage right now.

How do you turn this off? My iphone is turned off, but this thing is still running? What's the easy way to shut it down? Thanks!

Well even if you turn off the app, you need to turn off the server. For Windows, there should be an icon near the time at the bottom, right click on that, and click something like close server...

I for one have tried it, on windows pc and found no spiking cpu usage. I will use this in place of my RF keyboard on my media pc connected to my plasma in the living room and instead of having to grab the laptop and use the mouse in the bedroom while watching a movie on the wall mounted tv in there. I can see this being used in place of VNSea because the reaction time is much quicker. I have no lag and would possibly use this for PowerPoint presentation remote over a wireless network. Sure it would work with an adhoc wireless set up on a laptop also.

For those worried about someone getting access to your files, just make sure that nothing in your router is pointing at the computer you are using.

By the way, I have my iphone jailbroken and will probably keep it that way until apps that I use come out via itunes or what ever the delivery method is.

Well, I'd like to control my TV computer from my sofa. I have a wireless mouse/keyboard of course, but I see value in this. Does VNSea also have a keyboard? I've not tried it and am unclear as to the differences.

Question, is there a way to get the computer's screen to simultaneously show on the iPhone to make moving the cursor around easier to view/control?

VNsea allows you to do anything you can do with a regular keyboard and mouse. It has the usual iphone keyboard plus the other keys (alt, control, apple, tab... etc.) It allows you to see what you're doing on the screen with the option to zoom (pinch) and pan (two fingers). The screen refreshing is a little slow sometimes so watching movies and videos isn't really that great. If I could only have one 3rd party app, it would be VNsea.

I just tried this on a nice big keynote presentation and it worked perfectly. Bring up the on-screen keyboard when you start the session and you can use the top section to tap for next slide with the backspace button available if you need to backtrack. Actually, oddly, felt better to use than a mouse as the slight (VERY slight) delay forces you to wait a second to make sure it picked up the click which can help avoid getting overanxious and skipping through three slides with multiple clicks.

Thinking about it, I'd use this for presentations and leave the iPod / iPhone on the table. Looks REALLY good, just a slim black monolith that you tap to move on, like something out of Tron :D

I'm sorry. Not following you well. It sounds like you're saying with VNSea, I can control the screen like this Touchpad app but also view the big screen on my iPhone like Telekinesis? ??

Brian - with VNSea I can see the computer screen on my iPhone. Streaming video screen to screen seems a bit faster than Telekinesis but it's still in stop motion. I'm interested in seeing live cam from my computer screen on the iPhone in real time. Is there any way to increase the frame rate, etc?

I'd probably be happier if I could to this with Telekinesis because I'm finding it impossible to manipulate the screen with VNSea. Zooming is impossible because it recognizes most all touches as a mouse click and I just keep opening apps/windows.

Seems to me "Touchpad" is very different from VNSea. To be used as a remote mouse/keyboard and so far, it's working 100% better for that purpose than VNSea - Unless I'm missing something.

Anyone got an easy how-to for setting up both the phone and PC to get this to work?

The documentation is a little vague.

Go to iClarified.com Instructions are in picture form which helps me immensely.

reminds me of the good ol days of using "salling clicker" on my treo. i have to say im not impressed at all. since i have been controlling my mac from my phone for years now. what i dont understand is why apple does not bunddle its own :apple:version of this with the iphone/iPtouch. and whats this buisness with the URL, if this is a web based app then your pretty much giving controll of your computer to the writter of this app, and/or limiting it use to whether you have internet access thus heavilly limiting its use with the iPtouch. keep in mind the author of such a web app probably cant see your mac desktop but it still has lots of malicious potentail we all need to keep an eye on. hopefully apple will become more friendly towards the idea of 3rd party software and unlocking of iphones/iPtouches so we dont have web app paranoia with apps like this

Of course you are not impressed... because you haven't even taken the 30 seconds it takes to read the whole post / watch the video. This application is not a "web application", It's simply a modified VNC client.
If you are not going to even bother to understand what is in front of you, then why even comment yet?

This is pretty cool, been testing it out and it seems to run well. No crashing or lag issues. There is a bit of a bug if you will involving the keyboard. If your computer's keyboard is an international one the one in the program will not reflect that. I have a Swedish keyboard on my laptop and the keyboard in the Touchpad program was a standard iPhone one. When typing from Touchpad I tried to insert an apostrophe, however on my computer's keyboard the apostrophe is replaced with a Swedish letter. Easily fixable by changing the keyboard layout in your preferences. However there should be some synchronization between the two directly inside Touchpad.

Also needs to add a keyboard in landscape mode, then it would be a solid app.

BTW I'm convinced that these type of cool apps won't be the kind of thing we see from the official SDK.

Yes...also when I tried to type on my PowerBook keyboard it used some type of symbols instead of my USA keyboard letters...
It went back to normal when I shut off the app...strange...

how would i do this? what IP would i use? i am using an airport router. how do i relate my router's ip to my local ip for my mac to access my computer outside of my network?

If Apple can incorporate this technology with the iPhone via official download, it would be awesome. They could probably run it through bluetooth too.

Yes, you need Jailbroken unfortunately...

Why unfortunately? It literarily takes under a minute to jailbreak the phone and your not make any harmfull changes to the phone. You get tired of it you can just restore the phone to it's original state.

Only Partially works for me

Got it to connect, screen turns black but it won't control my mouse. All I can get to work are the "F" keys when the "more" button is pressed. Any ideas?

cool app i suppose, but like someone else had said earlier, have none of you ever controlled your computer with your cell phone before? i've used at least a half dozen SE phones in the past that do the same thing.
not saying it's not fun to use sometimes, but is everyone amazed simply because it's on the iphone?

How about having that work with this?
