Don't get me wrong, the lighter weight and form factor was nice. The speed seemed decent, but it just seems to be overpriced for what you get.

I was debating getting one, and the fact that you only get 10gb for $500 after iOS is just not enough space for anything. You can literally put on a few apps and games and a movie. Going up to $600 your looking at $650 out the door with tax, plus $99 for Apple care because you don't want to spend $600 and then accidentally drop the tablet and have it break. So now your at $750 and then you will want a cover for it, which will bring it up to about $800.

For $800 I would expect to be able to get a device with 128gb of memory, 2gb ram, a cover, and warranty.

These things are not selling like hot cakes, theres tons of them at every store i have been to. I'll wait for the next iPad and if Apple starts at 32gb with 2gb ram, then I'll buy one. Otherwise, I am happy using my $229 kindle hdx that is just as high quality and a fraction of the price.

Just released earlier this morning. . . plentiful supply... how many stores have you been too and why?

These posts are awesome. First of all, this is all common knowledge and has been around since the iPad 1. This is not a device based on computing power. It's a consumption device first and foremost that has the potential to be used in business and other areas. It is powerful enough for 99% of what it will be used for. If that's not good enough for you, why the hell are you even trying it out?

Secondly, just because Apple was able to get enough stock to meet demand this time does not mean they aren't selling. It's obviously a sick tablet that will sell like crazy in the next few months with the holidays coming up even if it doesn't completely sell out in the first weekend. But, you're right, we'll just take your word for it since you went to three stores and they had iPad Airs in stock.

Cool! Have fun with your Amazon Kiosk.

Thanks! I love being able to download movies, books and tv shows for free rather than paying $10-$20 per movie and $5 per book. In the end I imagine I will save a lot of money.

Also theres no need for cellular because I can just download the shows or movies I want to watch ahead of time. I also enjoy being able to play all the same games on my kindle as what is on the Apple apps because game loft and all the other game makers make games for kindle too, and they run just as well. Hmm, I guess I miss out on typing papers or making power points but I have a 15" rmbp for that so oh well.

Having quick access to buy things and have free 2 day shipping is also great. I appreciate your comment!

I've been to every store in the area! Um... NOT looking for iPad Air. And they're EVERYWHERE! I spent hours playing with them every place I went, pushed little kids out of my way, oggled and goggled the store displays until my greasy paws left marks on all of them.

Now I'm off to look for more!

Buy one? No way! I hate Apple.

I'll let you know more about the abundant supply and why I DON'T want one (yet am racing all over town for one anyway) later.

:apple:

Out shopping this morning, happened to be at a target and best buy and they both had plenty. Best buy employees were practically begging me to buy one. Every model every color they had it. A few people messed with them but they also decided not to buy.

why the opinion now? nothing has really changed since the 1st ipad all that much besides lighter and faster etc. space has always been priced like that. now it's an issue?

The iPad has been out since 2007 and the OP has just now decided to tell us he doesnt see the value in one. Hahahahahah.........tell that to the 170 million people in the world who do buddy.

When iPads first came out, it was worth it to pay $500 for 16gb of memory and the form factor as nothing else was out that could compare.

Now its the same old song and dance by Apple selling 16gb for same price and $100 per increase in memory when competitors are starting at way cheaper for 16gb base models and only charging $40 per increase in memory. Apple is behind the times on pricing. It used to be that they priced competitively and you got a good deal for the money but now it just seems meh.

I was so hungry and bought a $15 hot dog and it wasn't worth it. Going up from the $2 hot dog because you know, you need 3 of them to fill up your stomach if your hungry so that is automatically $6 for three hot dogs. But then, who wants just a hot dog with just mustard, you need eat it with chilli and cheese to have any taste so that is another $2 a piece on each hot dog totalling $12. But then, who doesn't get thirsty after eating 3 hot dogs so you have to tack on $3 for an extra large soda.

For $15 I don't expect a simple hot dog, I expect a gourmet meal.

I'm sorry, did I miss when the iPad became a portable hard drive?

This is Apple tho. Why do people think Apple is going to compete dollar wise with what other companies are doing? It's simply not the same experience as going with another tablet. People are willing to pay that...that's why it hasn't changed. For some reason people think bc samsung or google is doing something cheaper that apple needs to follow. They do whatever they want, when they want. People still buy.

It's just funny bc the iPad Air is the nicest design yet, but people are complaining about it.

You realize you can use Amazon Prime on the iPad also right? And no...you do not have access to all the same games availible on the iPad.

Bestbuy doesn't beg , they just don't care.

This wasn't my experience when I went to Target, Walmart and BB this morning. BB was the only store that had them and there were several people there buying them.
