Try Your MMS

I'm confused how those using the 5.0 carrier file are able to send MMS. Wasn't the camera icon added in 5.1??
 
iPhone 3G, 3.1, Carrier 5.0 and no mms. Then again, I'm not expecting anything until tomorrow. I check once in a while to see if they are staggering the rollout but nothing.

It's been hard to figure out. People have claimed MMS is working for them - only to find out they've hacked the carrier file.
 
MMS just started working for me here in Louisville, Ky. Reset my network settings and it worked I have 3.1 with 5.1 ippc.

Only thing is that it wont send on WIFI??
 
Do you all think you'll have to update to 3.1 in order to use MMS? I don't know about most of you but I like having my phone jailbroken and its not worth losing that for MMS
 
now working in downtown dallas and the suburb I live in (15 minutes east of dallas)

It did not work last night.

it does not appear to work over wifi with the carrier file 5.1.

it does work with wifi connected with the file floating around marked 5.2

I have the Iphone unlimited text plan. On my latest bill it does not say MMS OPT OUT. It did sat opt out on older bills
 
as of this afternoon it is working in dayton, oh. i tried it this morning and nothing tried it after lunch and it worked.. have sent a few and recieved a few. 3.1 with 5.2
 
Quick question:

I uploaded the 5.1 carrier file per the instructions in this thread. Never got MMS to work and killed group texting.

Is the carrier file being made available tomorrow the same one?

If not, do I need to do anything special to update tomorrow, or will the new carrier file automatically update?

Also, how do I get group texting back?

HMMM im stumped....
Myrtle Beach, SC
2 3gs iphones both with 3.0 with tethering hack (not jailbroken)
2 seperate accounts
both with regular unlimited txting
using carrier file 5.0 (have camera icon on both)

account A cannot mms from either phones
account B can send and recieve mms, tether, and visual voicemail on both phones no problem.

Called on account B and customer service rep confirmed MMS_OPT_OUT was not on account. She said i was ready for tomorrow for when i install the new carrier file. I told her I was in the developer group and that I allready had the file updated into my phone and was told to check with AT&T to make sure my account was set up correct. she said hold one sec I will double check everything for you. She did not put me on hold but sounded like she was checking into things and told me she had checked every possible area of my account and it still looks good on her end. Told me to try the new file tomorrow. only problem is im sure the new file tomorrow will require 3.1 which will break the tethering and to me tethering>MMS. anyone else have some ideas? or had the same results?

I can confirm that with firmware 3.0 and with carrier file 5.0 you can have mms, tethering, and VVM all working no prob.

with MMS enabled group txting is done VIA MMS, go into the messaging settings within the settings app. and turn off MMS.
 
MMS works with the 5.0 file that was released a few months ago with 3.0 to activate tethering and stuff for me. Running 3.0, not 3.0.1 or 3.1. Richmond, Virginia! Having lots of service disruptions today, perhaps that's why. It didn't work yesterday.
 
^I'm a cocky jeremy, too :cool:

I updated my carrier file a week ago and it started working this morning :D and I have been abusing it. I'll write a message on paper, take a picture, send the mms picture as my text :eek:

Genius. I will be doing that all day tomorrow.
 
i just did network reset (ya... i'm impatient).... let's see if it does anything????

editted to add: MEH... nothing (i'm assuming if i have MMS i'll have the little camera in the lower lefthand corner of my messages screen? or is there another way of knowing?
 
working today

I updated my carrier profile to 5.1 last week but lost the ability to send group messages and mms always ended with an exclamation mark. No go. I than in anticipation of the update coming tomorrow wanted to revert back to the original carrier profile 5.0 so I did a restore-setting the phone up as new and the carrier profile changed back to 5.0 but still had the camera icon and no ability to send group sms or mms. This morning it works fine. Im running 3.1 with 5.0 carrier on a 3g and am in Chico, CA.

Did you download and update to the new carrier file? That is what adds the little camera.....
 
Mine is working here in NJ today. Installed the carrier file from this thread (5.1). Hasn't worked for a week or two prior to today.

oh.... :eek: no.... don't want to do the hack version... i thought a lot of people were getting it just by doing a reset... no hack.... :(
